Chapter 40

After Alondra enters the house. She went straight to the restroom. She had no idea why her stomach ached so suddenly, and she couldn't bear the pain. Leandre must be wondering why she is no longer paying attention to him. And it assumed he was angry once more. Then her phone rang, which was already inside her sling bag, which she had forgotten she had brought with her when she entered the restroom. Alondra showered and left. Her phone was scratched inside her sling bag. Mathilde had called, so she answered right away.

"Hello, Mathilde. Why?" she asked.

Her steps were slow as she ascended the stairs because the pain in her stomach did not go away. The bedroom door opened, and Leandre looked at Alondra, who came in while on the phone, her face wrinkled as if in pain, and her left hand clutching her stomach.

"Why did you call?" Alondra asked.
While he was listening when she lay down next to him.
"Send me home? Why? Call me later because I have something else to do." Alondra said then lay down next to him.
And Leandre saw that Alondra was sweating.
"Why?" asked Leandre.
"My stomach hurts," answered Alondra.
"What? Why didn't you tell me right away? Wait, I'll get you some medicine for the stomach ache."

Leandre went outside and down the stairs to get some water, as well as look for his medicine kit and stomach ache medicine.
He dashed up the stairs to their room. He went inside and found Alondra sleeping. On the small table, he placed the medicine and a glass of water. And he approached Alondra and used a blanket to wipe her sweaty face. He stripped off her clothes and searched the closet for something she could wear. She looks better after a few minutes.

So he called Lexie and asked her to buy him food and dishes from the restaurant and bring them to his vacation house, which he knew because he had taken Lexie there before. After an hour, his secretary called to say he was waiting outside the gate, so Leandre dashed out the door. He opened it to find Lexie with a man leaning on the hood of the car.

"Good evening, Lexie. I'm sorry to disturb you. Alondra's stomach hurts so I ordered you to buy food because you know I don't know how to cook." Leandre said shyly as his eyes focused on the man.
The man smiled at him and he smiled back. He only saw Lexie with a man now because even though she had been working with him for a long time, she didn't talk about anything other than work.
"It's okay, sir. We were in the city when you called me, so there's no problem. Where is Alondra? Is she okay?"
"Still sleeping but later I'll let her drink medicine," answered Leandre.
"Alright. We're leaving, sir. We'll come in next time." said Lexie.
"Alright. Thanks again, Lexie."

Leandre entered after Lexie had left, carrying the cellophane and disposable Tupperware. He placed it on the glass table in the living room before proceeding up the stairs. He noticed Alondra sitting, but her eyes were still closed.
"Are you awake? Take this medicine first, and then we'll eat in the living room," Leandre said.

He took a glass of water and the medicine and gave it to Alondra afterward.
Alondra drank it and got up.
"Thank you."
He and Alondra went down the stairs together and slowly. And a few minutes later they were both eating.
"I thought you cooked?" Alondra asked.
"No. I disturbed Lexie just to buy us food. Good thing she was in the city by that time." Leandre answered and put food on Alondra's plate.
"Why didn't you let him in? So we could talk."
"She had a boyfriend with her. I think they were on a date and I just disturbed her." Leandre answered with a laugh.
"Is your stomach okay? What did you eat while I was gone?"
"Nothing. Maybe the thin clothes I was wearing allowed all the air to enter my body. Now the pain is just a little." answered Alondra.
"Good to hear that. I thought you were mad at me again that's why you don't want to talk to me. Whatever you feel, you'll tell me so I know what it is." said Leandre.
"I'm sorry. Cheska and I met in the square. Did she come home when you left?" Alondra asked.
"Yes. And she was upset with me because I left you alone," answered Leandre.
"Leave her alone. I already told her that I was the one who decided not to come."

Leandre took their plates and washed them in the sink for a while. He and Alondra then went upstairs together. They sat on the bed, wrapped a blanket around themselves, and hugged each other. They were both exhausted by the end of the day and had nothing to say.

The next day, Leandre awoke late because his body felt heavy. He got up and went into the bathroom to take a shower because Alondra was no longer by his side. After a few moments, he went outside and looked in the closet for office clothes. After a few minutes, he descended the stairs and went straight to the kitchen. He noticed Alondra making their breakfast.

"Good morning. How's your stomach ache?" he asked and came closer to her and kissed her on the lips.
"I'm fine. Thank you. Have a seat. So you can eat."
"Okay. What are you going to do here at home now since you're not dressed to go with me?" Leandre asked.
"My online class has already started. That's why I'm here at home," answered Alondra while putting food on her plate.
"Have you registered yet?" asked Leandre as he started to eat.
"Yes and have already enrolled and passed payment," answered Alondra.
"Wow. You did all that without my help?" asked Leandre.
"Of course. I won't rely on you all the time. How can I learn if I don't try? It's easy when you do it on your phone." Alondra answered in a cheerful tone.
"Good for you."
"Thank you," Alondra said and kissed him on the lips, and approached the sink.
And Leandre also stood up.
"I have to go. Be careful here, Alondra. Don't open the door when someone you don't know is there." Leandre says.
"Yes. Be careful."

She accompanied Leandre to the gate. After he had gone, she went inside and got a reed broom and a dustpan to sweep the dry leaves that were all over the place. And she noticed that there were wooden benches in the shade of massive trees. She considered taking an online class here later.

They only gave her assignments to write or do when she first opened the link. She began cleaning, taking all the dry leaves with her and putting them in the big drum in the back, which she knows is a trash bin, or she can burn them or turn them into fertilizer for flowers, but there isn't a single flower in this house, as she discovered.

The sun is shining brightly, but Alondra hasn't finished yet, and she's already sweating. And she read behind her even though she had just gotten out of the shower. But she came to a halt when she heard the gate slam. She dropped what she was doing and went outside to see who the visitor was. When she opened it, she was surprised to see a woman with short hair smirking at her from head to toe.

"Who are you?" the woman asked her.

Alondra was unable to respond. She wanted to ask who it was, but the woman walked ahead of her as if she was still perplexed as to why she was there. As she looked at her, the woman gave her a death glare.

"As far as I know, you don't look familiar to me, and my husband has no relatives who look like you," the woman said, shattering Alondra's world.

So Leandre is the man she refers to as her husband. Because no other man lives in this house except him. Was this woman sending the messages she had previously read? It's a wife, not just a girlfriend.

"I'm his cousin from his father's side, which may explain why I'm unfamiliar with you. Nice to meet you," Alondra replied.

She is in pain, but she refuses to get into more trouble because she hit a married man. But, in any case, she can't be held responsible because she just paid the debt, but something is going on between her and Leandre.

They made love because they truly loved each other. Alondra noticed that Leandre felt something for her in every kiss and caress towards her, and she felt the same way, but she can't forget that she was only here to repay Leandre for the money she stole. So she is confronted with reality. She is the true owner and legal wife of the man she loves.
"Okay. Nice meeting you. And, by the way, where's Leandre? I keep contacting him but he doesn't answer even in my messages," the woman said with poise, and she noticed a wedding ring that caused her vision to blur.

But she inhaled deeply, she didn't want to cry over a man, even though she adores him, and now she knows he's off-limits.

Leandre was speeding down the road when he realized his phone had been left in his drawer. Instead of calling Alondra, he reversed his car and drove back home. He was about a mile into the house when he noticed a black sedan car outside the gate and two women talking seriously, none other than Jade and Alondra.

So the one he was afraid of was already happening. And Leandre knows they went so far and talked so much because he saw Alondra's face harden. He is terrified to death.

Now he sees that his happiness is eroding. Now he knows, whatever the truth was that was being buried for it not to be revealed. The truth will always win out. He had no choice but to exit the car after parking it on the side of the road.
As he approached the gate, his gaze was drawn to Alondra. He was met with cold stares that made his heart race. And when Jade looked at him, she fainted and fell. Fortunately, he has her arms in his grip. His mind and heart are at odds over whether he should console Alondra and explain everything, or bring Jade to the hospital.

"Bring her to the hospital, Leandre. Don't wait for her to die in here." Alondra said emotionlessly.

Then Leandre loaded Jade into his car and drove away. Leandre's car was invisible to Alondra because she was holding her chest. She punches her chest slowly to relieve the pain, but it does not go away. She's not going to cry. But she didn't want to see Leandre before he left. She was hurting even more because she had been betrayed.

It's always easy, to tell the truth to her because she understands how difficult the truth is. Reality slapped her, and she wants to flee as quickly as she can to avoid embarrassment and pain. All of her dreams vanish in an instant. She dashed inside, grabbed her sling bag, and carried it outside.

And she didn't want to bring anything Leandre owned. She wants to start a new life without him in her system. She wished to be free of those painful and negative memories. She took the credit card from her sling bag and placed it on the living room's glass table.

Then she heard the front door open but she didn't pay attention to who entered.
"You go somewhere, Alondra?" Emerald asked, whom she didn't notice standing behind her.
She look at her and then she saw Francheska smile at her widely. She forced herself to smile but it felt bitter.
"The two of you visited me today? Is their good news?" she asked, cheerfully but her whole body weaken.
She wanted to sleep and hide all day in a place where she became alone.
"Nothing. Francheska is the one who invited me and asked where you staying so we're here." Emerald said, laughing.
But Alondra wasn't felt happy seeing them. They are nice to her and good people but they are lying to her about the truth that she didn't know why.
"Where is Leandre?" Emerald asked.
"He rushed his wife to the hospital since she fainted earlier when she came here," Alondra replied, casually.
Then she noticed Emerald and Cheska's eyes widen in disbelief.

"You mean. You already know?" Emerald asked looking worried.
"Yes. The two of us talked since when I opened the door her face appeared outside. You know what the craziest thing I do just to cover up my wrongdoings is I introduced myself as your brother's cousin. Oh my, Emerald. Why did you even bother to not tell me the truth? We're both women, aren't we? I wish you'd at least thought to tell me so I'd know." Alondra said.
She wants to cry and squat on the floor because of the pain he feels. But she has to be strong.
"Didn't my brother tell you?" Emerald asked.
"No. Would I react like this if I knew what was going on? Probably not." answered Alondra.
"They've been separated for a long time, Aunt Alondra. And Uncle didn't love her anymore because the woman cheated. There's nothing wrong with Uncle planning a divorce soon, so maybe he didn't tell you but it happened earlier." Cheska interrupted.
"Even though they are separated, they are still married since they didn't have a divorce yet. Even so, I do not want to be a mistress or another woman. It is painful and difficult. But anyway, we don't have a relationship. I am only here to pay what I owe to your brother and now that's over. I'm going to leave and leave his credit card." Alondra said.
Emerald looked away.
"My brother might be angry when he finds out that you left and you didn't wait for him. You two talk and I don't believe that there is no relationship between you two." Emerald replied.
"Let me go first, Emerald. I'll go home with us first. I can't wait for him any longer. Thank you so much for being kind and for the short time we spent together." she said and hugged Emerald.
"Please stay, Aunt Alondra," Cheska begged but she was determined to leave.
Maybe he has already paid what he owed Leandre.
"I'm sorry, Cheska. But my family needs me too. I'll be back soon." Alondra replied smiling.
But she won't come back. Her eyes only smiled when she left the gate. And she walks slowly and hopes that Leandre won't see her. And after a couple of minutes, she heard a car beep from behind but she ignored it. And the car was ahead of her and they were watching. The window opened but she didn't bother to look back.
"Get in, Alondra. Where are you from, why are you walking alone?" asked a voice familiar to him.
So he looked at him and saw that it was Garret and he was staring at him.
"I'm a friend of the owner of that big house. That's why I'm here and walking," answered Alondra.
"Didn't they deliver you?"
"It's not just that I also want to walk for exercise," Alondra answered, forcing a smile to emerge from her lips.
"Okay. Get on board before the walker catches up with you at night."

Before Leandre could catch up with her, Alondra jumped on board. She is upset because he chose to take his ex-wife to the hospital by over-explaining to her, but does she have the right to hear his explanations? She is merely an escort girl at the club. So, what else is she going to do in that house? All she has is a shame, so she can't take it any longer, even if it means losing it.

Leandre pushes himself to catch up to Alondra. When he arrived, he ran into the house, but only Emerald and Cheska caught up with him, and he noticed that his sister was holding a credit card that he knew she gave to Alondra.

So their facial expressions explained everything, and he stopped asking questions.

"So how is your ex-wife, has she died? What were the findings of the doctor who examined her? Is she going to become an oscar awardee because of her ability to create a scene?" Emerald asked, smirking.
Leandre couldn't answer. Emerald was angry for sure.
"I don't know."

"Alondra confessed everything, that you don't have a real relationship, that's why you didn't introduce her properly to your ex-wife? Or are you just afraid of her? So what's confusing me now?"

"Damn you, Emerald. Are you numb? I love Alondra so much but why did you let her go?"

"Why not?" Emerald replied, "because you chose to take that woman to the hospital instead of explaining to Alondra; let's just let her go and give her the freedom to do whatever she wants in life."
