Chapter 30
"Do you need anything from me?" she asked.
"Yes," her boss replied, holding a white envelope near her.
"What exactly is that?"
"Take it for yourself; it's my gift to you as a hardworking employee here," her boss said.
"OK, thank you, and by the way, I'm going to the city," Alondra explained.
"Of course, take your time."
Alondra exited the office with the envelope given to her by the boss, which she knew contained money, in her sling bag. She laughed in her head because her boss seemed to think they were only doing a simple job. But Alondra didn't pay attention to what she said, instead looking for a taxi to take her to the city. Because the bar house is separate from the house where they sleep and stay, no one will know she works in a club. A taxi pulled up in front of her a few minutes later, and she hurriedly got in because Mathilde had texted her that she was waiting for her there.
While Alondra looks at her reflection in the taxi window, the car is moving. Her hair has grown straight and black, and she is now short and brown. Her previously dark skin has now turned white. And she didn't gain any weight because she was simply tired and awake. Even if she wanted to sleep, she couldn't because everyone was watching them. She eventually arrived in the city. After getting out of the taxi, she looked for Mathilde. They were on the phone while she was looking for her, but when their gazes met, she smiled sweetly. Mathilde approached her and hugged her tightly.
.
"I miss you so much, sister. Now I can see what the city looks like. It's so beautiful." what happiness that Mathilde said to her and she let go of her embrace and looked at her intently.
"I told you the city is really beautiful," Alondra answered as she smiled at Hebrew who was behind them.
"But you've gotten more beautiful, sister. And your short hair and color suit you. You like your job here in the city too much." Mathilde said.
Alondra just smiled because she felt guilty. No matter what happens, she will hide the truth from them.
"It's a good thing that Mathilde convince you to come with her here, Hebrew?" Alondra asked as the three of them walked everywhere together.
"I wasn't supposed to come because I had work, but she insisted and then started crying, so I feel sorry for her," replied Hebrew.
"Shut up! You're too talkative. If I didn't know that you always wanted me to be with you, I'd never believe you." Mathilde answered as if she wasn't herself but Hebrew remained silent.
First and foremost, Alondra was aware that Hebrew had a secret crush on Mathilde, but her sister didn't appear to be on her mind, and she thanked her profusely because she still wanted her to complete her education. They went into the large mall and looked for something to buy. Mathilde was the first to approach the clothing displays near the end. While she and Hebrew were out walking. He took money from her sling bag and handed it over to him.
"What is it, Alondra?" Hebrew asked.
"Mathilde has been renting your tricycle for over a month so that's the payment," answered Alondra.
"But you gave it too much," Hebrew said that the money would be returned to her but she refused.
"Accept it. That's not enough for you to take care of my sister to be safe on the way from school and the house." Alondra answered emotionally.
"No problem. We're just neighbors so we should help each other." Hebrew replied.
"Thank you. And one more thing, I might ask you a favor."
"What's that?"
"Maybe you can help them buy the materials to build a new house that is all concrete. Because the father is not very knowledgeable, maybe you can accompany them. Just now, when you get home, I will send money to Mathilde to buy everyone will use it." Alondra said.
"No problem."
"Thanks a lot."
She took money from inside her sling bag and gave it to Hebrew.
"What is it again, Alondra? Has it doubled?"
"That's my advance payment. What I also want is for you to build a house for your parents. Even if it's not cement, as long as they can sleep comfortably without a hole in the roof. Also, so that you can pay me for a long time." Alondra replied smiling.
"Thank you very much for this. This is a great help for us."
"You're welcome. You might also want to buy a phone so you can use something."
"It's possible. I've been wanting to buy something for a long time but it's always short on budget. It's good that you're kind." Hebrew said.
"Thank you."
An hour later they had bought some used by his mother and father. After he paid, they went out and Hebrew looked for a gadgets store to buy a phone. While Mathilde is always digging it. Alondra just smiled as she followed them.
"You have money? Why didn't you tell me?" Mathilde asked.
"I don't want to tell you because you might borrow money from me," Hebrew answered with a laugh.
"You so mean. I'll just pay you." Mathilde replied with a sneer.
"Seriously? You're going to borrow?"
"Of course. What do you think I know how to joke?" Mathilde asked back.
"I don't know about you. You talk too much. The first time we met, it was like you didn't see me." replied Hebrew shaking his head.
"What do you expect to happen if you meet someone for the first time, Hebrew? I'm going to bite you. You know a lot. Choose the phone you want and I'd like to eat ice cream." Mathilde complained.
Hebrew did nothing but go to the store and look for a unit of gadgets that he liked. While she and Mathilde stood on the sidelines.
"I will send you money as soon as you return from the province, and please tell mom and dad that they will buy the materials to build our new house and first pay and buy the lot so that it will be ours for life and we won't have to rent it," Alondra said.
"Sister? We have a new house?" Mathilde asked with a look of great joy on her face.
"Of course. I want to go home to a new house."
"Yes. You can count."
"Good."
An hour later, Hebrew had finished selecting his preferred phone. They went straight to the ice cream shop. Mathilde sat in a corner at first, and Alondra came to the counter and ordered what Mathilde desired. She is unconcerned because she is now better dressed and walking around the city, which is not the case before. She approached their table and sat. The server delivered their order a few minutes later. They ate after that. Alondra noticed that Mathilde's face was filled with joy.
Until it was time for them to go home because it was late afternoon. She had already purchased groceries for their father and mother, as well as Hebrew's family. She is grateful because she has found someone she can rely on to keep an eye on Mathilde. She even dropped them off at the city terminal. She left just as the bus was about to leave.
"Take care, sister. I love you very much." Mathilde shouted at her as she was about to get into the car.
"I love you too."
The taxi runs along the highway. Only now does Alondra feel the fatigue and pain in her body from her one month of work. So he could close his eyes while leaning. She immediately told the driver where she should be delivered so that she would not get lost. A few minutes later she heard the driver's voice.
"We're here, Miss."
So Alondra paid right away as she was leaving. She walks in slowly because she thinks she's going to fall and she thinks she's going to get a fever this time. So she'll take the medicine later, assuming she has any on hand. The corridor leading to their room was deafeningly quiet. Those who were their colleagues couldn't even speak to her because, over time, they seemed to hate her even though the fact that she hadn't done anything wrong and didn't see the girls anymore, possibly hanging out in the dressing room or wandering around the city.
It's a good thing they dealt with their situation, but if someone wanted to talk to them, they couldn't because they'd become waitresses. After all, she had inquired of Madam Gretchen. It's not a good idea to make someone do something they don't want to do. Instead of getting dressed, Alondra lay down on the bed and closed her eyes. She hadn't realized she'd been sleeping for so long until she heard someone knock on the door, which opened and let her in.
"Where have you been?" asked Dianne.
"Somewhere," she answered but she didn't even bother to face Dianne because she seemed to be feeling bad.
"Do you have a date?"
"Nope. But at least I hope there is and I can find a man who will take me out of this hellish place," answered Alondra.
"There is that for sure. But maybe he hasn't come yet," answered Dianne.
"It tired from waiting for him a while," Alondra complained.
"Wait. Don't get too excited."
Alondra just laughed.
"Where are they?"
"Hang out in the dressing room."
"I see. Why did you come back? You want to sleep?" she asked.
"It's late, Alondra. That's why there are many customers at the bar house. Madam Gretchen said when you're coming, I want to let you know that a customer has booked you. Then he paid a lot." said Dianne who looked at her with worries.
"Okay. I'll be followed later," answered Alondra.
"Are you sure? I sense that you are very tired." Dianne said.
"Yes. I'm fine. Go back there, maybe they'll find looking for you."
"All right."
Alondra slowly got up after Dianne left, looking for something to wear today. She doesn't appear to be in the right frame of mind, but hopefully, that will change once she takes the medication. She went through her medicine cabinet, looking for headache and body pain relief. She drank it all at once and returned to her bed.
While Leandre couldn't believe that he saw Nicholas outside his building. He was leaning on the hood of his car while waiting for him. He approaches him.
"Am I the one you're waiting for?" he asked.
"Anyone else besides you?"
"Damn you! I'm asking you properly," said Leandre.
"I answered you well. You know a lot," replied Nicholas.
"Why are you here?"
"Let's unwind. I'm tired of the office and I also want to see another place," replied Nicholas.
"Okay."
Leandre followed Nicholas into his car, and the two of them drove away together. Leandre had no idea what was going through Nicholas' mind or why he had asked them to go out again. This friend didn't seem to have a problem in life, and he had no idea he was fighting with his wife. So there's a lot of feeling and ease in married life. For him, the entire world is a burden. Even though it is not raining, the night is cold. They came to a stop once more at a place he recognized as a bar.
If Nicholas wants to drink, they can go to his mother's house, but he prefers to go here to this type of place. He got out of the car and parked it on the side of the road. While many customers were about to enter, the two of them were standing in the front.
"Why are we here?" he asked.
"Of course. Let's drink," replied Nicholas.
"We can drink at mommy's house," said Leandre.
"Sure but this is a new open bar so I want to try to enter."
Leandre didn't say anything else and just followed Nicholas inside. Just by looking around, he could tell that this was not a typical bar; something unusual was going on. Because he sees bikini-clad women dancing on stage and men holding their feet. Leandre did nothing but shake his head. The world becomes increasingly filthy as time passes. He didn't like the atmosphere of the entire establishment. But he followed Nicholas into a large room quietly.
"What are we going to do here? Don't you notice anything in said place? It's the worst scenario." he says.
"We're not young enough to pay attention to such things. The important thing is that we have fun now," replied Nicholas.
The door then opened, and a young waitress, about sixteen years old, entered. Leandre smirked. What is this girl doing in such a place? Are her parents aware of this? After the girl had gone, Nicholas took a beer and began to drink. After a few hours of staying inside, Nicholas said goodbye for a while, intending to go out and return. But it took half an hour and he still hadn't returned, so he considered calling him but couldn't reach him. The door swung open unexpectedly.
"It's been a while since you returned," he said, but his brow furrowed when he saw that it was a very beautiful woman in front of him wearing a red tube and a short skirt who had entered, not Nicholas. Despite her attire, he finds her attractive.
"I believe you entered the wrong room, Miss?" he asked.
Leandre's jaw dropped as the woman smiled so sweetly. Her face, however, showed signs of exhaustion. He wonders why these beautiful women want to work in places like this when they can work and find decent jobs elsewhere. Dammit. This woman is so stunning that he will never get tired of staring at her for hours.
"I'm sorry, but someone paid for my service tonight," he said as he sat in front of him.
Leandre cocked his brow. Perhaps Nicholas did this so that he could leave immediately and not be angry with him.
"I'm not sure about this; perhaps your customer is different," only Leandre responded.
But he wasn't comfortable where he was because he knew this woman was nearby.
"Aren't you Leandre Harrison?" the woman asked.
"What?"
He was taken aback. He never rented a VIP room and spent the night with a woman. But if this woman isn't lying, Nicholas has been duped yet again.
"I have no idea about this, Miss. My friend just made it and put my name on it, and one more thing, I'm not here to have sex," Leandre stated flatly.
