Two days later/Kemi's first trial
Lara opened her eyes as the smell of hospital disinfects, invaded her nostrils. She blinked at the light that was above her. She looked around the white-painted room and it did not take seconds to realize that she was in a hospital. She groaned and sat on the bed.
A nurse walked into the ward and quickly called the doctor. When the doctor entered the ward, Lara was already standing on her feet.
"Miss Johnson!" the nurse shrilled and earned a glare from the doctor.
"Miss Johnson, I need you to come to the bed so we can examine you," the doctor said in a calm tone.
"How long was I out?"Lara asked as she stared at the doctor and nurse suspiciously. "Who bought me here?"
"You were out for two days as a result of the heavy blood loss. A man bought you here," the doctor explained.
"What man? Who was the man?"Lara questioned.
"He didn't give his name instead he said he was your guardian"
"Describe this man," Lara requested.
"He is about 181cm tall. Muscular and well-defined body. Lovely back and... "The nurse explained but, Lara cut her off with her hand.
"Did he come with another man?"Lara asked to make sure it was who she thought of.
"Yes, Miss. There was another man, "the doctor replied.
Lara thought about who they could be and then he realize that it was Jeremy and Yomi.
"When are they coming back?"
"I have no idea. They wanted you to be taken care of before their returns."
"What is today's date?"
"July 24th, "the nurse replied and exchange glances with the doctor.
"Is she suffering from amnesia?" the nurse whispered to the doctor.
Lara sighed and touched her head to recollect a memory and when she did, she stared blankly at the nurse and doctor.?
"Today is kemi's first trial. I have to leave"
"Leave? You can't leave yet. I will have to check your wounds to make sure you are safe to leave." the doctor argued.
"I am leaving and you are not going to stop me. Today is an important day in my life. I will be back for the check-up or whatever "Lara informed them and walked out of the room with the doctor and nurse exchanging looks as they watched her leave.
When Lara got to the hospital reception, she stopped walking and looked up at the news on the TV.
"A detective's body was found close to Han's rivers today. The detective identified as Kayla brown was a detective in the langose police department and her death had left the police department in shock. No one knows the cause of her death yet, but the videos released today by one of her reporters showed that she was shot on the forehead. The shot didn't look fresh and it was concluded that she had been dead for two days now."
The screen showed as Kayla's body was lifted from the ground into an ambulance. Her face had loosened all color and her lips were purple.
Lara bit her lips to hold back the tears and the scream in her throat. She looked at the TV screen again before walking out of the hospital.

Two days earlier.
After Jeremy and Yomi bought Lara to the hospital, they left after the doctor had attended to her and made sure she was freed from danger.
The next morning, after Jeremy had returned from the hospital. He got a surprise visit from Leonard Philip.
"Sir. A man is here to see you, "Lisa informed.
"Who is he?"
"He said he is Leonard Philip, "Lisa replied.
"Leonard Philip?"Yomi opened his eyes wide at the recognition. "He is the chief judge of langose and also one of the feathers"
"Well."Jeremy exchange looks with Yomi. "Let him in Lisa."Jeremy requested.
"Yes sir" Lisa bow and left the office.
"What are you thinking Jeremy?"Yomi questioned in a concerned tone. "This could be a trap."
"It's not a trap yomi. Do not conclude yet. Even if it was a trap, you'll be in this office with me."
Yomi sighed in relief and nodded.
Just then, Leonard Philip walked behind Lisa into Jeremy's office with two guards accompanying him.
"Have a seat sir" Lisa offered a chair.
"Thank you," Leonard said and took the chair that was opposite Jeremy.
"will you like some coffee, sir?"Lisa questioned Leonard.
"No. That's won't be necessary, "Leonard replied.
Lisa nodded and left the office.
"So. what is a chief judge doing in my firm? Jeremy questioned.
Leonard smiled and stared closely at Jeremy. He thought about how to bribe Jeremy and how the case would be close so that, the feathers won't have any more problems.
"Well. I heard you are in charge of an old case that was reopened and... "
"And you decided to come here to see the lawyer who is taking the old case?"Jeremy cut him off with a question he knew Leonard wouldn't have an answer to.
"You are right. "Leonard chuckled. "I came for something more, "Leonard said.
Yomi stared blankly at the judge and waited patiently for what he had to say.
"I'm here to offer you a lifetime opportunity"Leonard offered with a smile.
Jeremy smiled and raised his brows at the man in front of him.
"So this is the infamous chief judge of langose."Jeremy thought as he stared at Leonard.
"Drop the case and you will be rewarded"Leonard drop the bombshell Yomi and Jeremy were expecting.
"A reward? How much are we talking about here?"Jeremy decided to play along by asking Leonard a question he already knew the answer to.
"100 million dollars"
"100 million dollars? "Jeremy asked again to make sure and Leonard replied with a nod.
"That's a huge amount of money," Jeremy said with a smile on his face but, the next thing he said made Leonard's eyes almost pop out of their socket.
"I don't do bribes chief judge. the money you just offered is huge but, I would never sell my legacy because of money that would never last."
"How dare you refuse such reward?"Leonard stood up from the chair and slammed his hand on Jeremy's desk. "Who do you think you are to refuse such offer?"Leonard shouted.
"I'm a man who is bent on sending tyrant like you to prison and making sure they rot there" Jeremy replied with a smirk.
"How dare you?"Leonard held Jeremy's collar and pulled him up. "I could end your career in a blink of an eye."Leonard threatened.
Yomi tried to pull Leonard away from Jeremy but the two guards who had to accompany Leonard pointed guns at him.
"You can not end my career because I did nothing wrong. You came into my office, offered me a bribe which I refused, and threatening to end my career!"Jeremy yelled. "If you want it that way chief judge, I have a CCTV camera here in my office and it wouldn't take me two seconds to post it online for people to see the kind of person you are, "Jeremy threatened.
Leonard loosen his hand around Jeremy's collar and told his guards to drop their guns.
"You think you are special?"Leonard questioned, and continue talking. "There were lawyers who were once like you but do you know what happened to them?"Leonard whispered the last question to Jeremy.
"They all die because they thought they were special. I just gave you an opportunity which you refused to take so I'll see you making efforts in court."Leonard laughed and walked outside the firm with his guards.
"Are you alright Jeremy?"Yomi asked as soon as Leonard left.
"Call a meeting with the justice and invite Lillian too" Jeremy ordered, ignoring the question yomi had asked him.

Leonard's driver drove him straight to Daniel Hamilton's mansion as soon as he left Jeremy's firm.
"What do you mean he rejected the offer?"Daniel yelled after he heard of what transpired between Jeremy and Leonard.
"He refused and also threatens to send me to prison. The nerve!"Leonard shouted.
"What is the name of this lawyer?"
"Jeremy Akinsola "Leonard replied.
"Akinsola? Is he related to the Akinsola we know?"
"I doubt it. All the family of Akinsola Abraham perished that night twenty years ago. There are tons of Akinsola's in the world and from what I heard, he was born and bred in London and he won the case? against? LAN the notorious killer in London."Leonard informed.
"What do you think he is doing in??mecianda?"Daniel questioned.
"That is for him to answer. What do we have to do now concerning the case? If that young man could win a case against LAN the killer, what would be our fate? "
"Get Kyle Falana on the case and offer him a huge amount of money, "Daniel ordered.
Kyle Falana, a renowned prosecutor in mecianda was the only person,? Daniel could think of to tackle and win the case against Jeremy Akinsola.
"It would be done, "Leonard agreed. After exchanging few words with Daniel, he left for the prosecutors' office.

The day of the first trial of Kemisola came and the justice came prepared for the trial.
The press filled the langose supreme court when they heard of who were in charge of the case. Prosecutor kyle falana and Jeremy Akinsola.
"Hello, good people of mecianda. We are at the supreme court of langose for the case that was closed now to reopen after five years. The shocking fact about this case is that two renowned lawyers are facing each other. Prosecutor kyle falana, a popular prosecutor in mecianda and some parts of the world. He is known for winning cases against numerous crimes while on the other hand is Attorney Jeremy Akinsola, a popular lawyer back in London whose fame rose after he won the case against LAN the notorious killer. These two lawyers are both great and we are expecting this case to be a tug of war. What should we be expecting from the first trial? Who will win who? I'm Mary adedeji,? reporting from the langose supreme court.?
Jeremy and the justice had a meeting before entering the court.
"I had no idea that the prosecutor is kyle fauna. We are going to lose this case, "Mary complained.
"Look, Mary, I have known Jeremy for a long time now and he had never lost a case. Let's put all our hopes on him"Yomi spoke for Jeremy with confidence.
"All my hope is on you because I want justice for my sister and Kemisola, "Lillian encouraged.
"Thank you all for your support. We will go with the initial plan. "Jeremy told them and they all nodded.
"Thank you so much for helping with my sister" James appreciated.
Jeremy pats him on the back and they all walked to the entrance of the courtroom.
"Jeremy Akinsola" someone called his name at the entrance of the courtroom.
"You guys go, I'll meet you," Jeremy told the justice.
"So you are Jeremy Akinsola? "The man asked but Jeremy gave no reply. "I must say that I was expecting someone older"
"I'm must also say that I have no idea who you are. Care to introduce yourself?"Jeremy asked staring at the man in front of him.?
The man in front of him was a tall, slender, white man whose face had wrinkled and hair had turned grey.
The man chuckled, "drop the pretense Akinsola. Everybody knows who I am."
"But I don't, "Jeremy replied.
"That a first. Well, I'm kyle Falana the prosecutor in charge of this case"kyle offered his hand to do a handshake but Jeremy ignored him. kyle smiled and dropped his hand into his pocket.
"So Akinsola, "kyle continued. "You are a young and promising lawyer so I'll advice you to drop this case"
"I don't answer to you or anyone"Jeremy replied with no emotions.
"I'm a famous prosecutor and I show no mercy"
Jeremy scoffed at what kyle had Just said before replying to him. "I do not care because all I care about is making sure the girl gets the justice she deserves."
"You think the brain works in this world?" kyle questioned and laughed. "Brain is useless in this world boy. What works is power. If you have the power, you will rule the world."
Jeremy smiled and walked closer to kyle. Standing face to face with him, Jeremy told him a shocking fact. "Power might work for you but as for me, justice always prevails. I? am done with this conversation "Jeremy bow and walked into the courtroom.
