CHAPTER 19

CHAPTER NINETEEN
I looked at her, wondering what the hell she was talking about. A reckoning for our kind? That instantly sparked my interest. Did she know something about the serial killings of my kind?

“Look, you are my elder and I respect that more than anything. But you are also forgetting that my kind can get quite…ravenous when humans do not comply. So once again, I’m asking you for the last time; could you please come with me? We really do need to talk very urgently,” My patience was wearing out and there was no someone dangerous than an angry, impatient me. It was like all my common sense just stopped working.

“Go to hell Collins,” she spat and was about to walk away when just my least likable person just had to show up.

“Looking beautiful Heathers. I brought your favorite blueberry muffins,” Xander said, setting the basket on top of the counter. Then he turned to me, smirking. What was he even doing here? Unless he also figured out about Nadia’s supposed visit.

“Oh, look who we have here,” he dragged, the smirking admittedly deepening.

“Not now Xander,” I was really not in the mood for a useless banter with his right now.

“You can be such a darling Xander,” She smiling picking the basketful of blueberry muffins, putting them somewhere behind the counter before she leaned forward, both her elbows resting on the countertop,” But it’s a no. I’m not talking to you either. Just as I told your Alpha friend here, no ghost house talk and yes, a reckoning is coming for your kind. For what you all did to us back then, you will all pay for it,” She seemed confident and that just made me all the more curious. Did she have anything to do with the killings? Or did she know who was responsible?

“Trust me Heathers, if I were you I would be very careful of what I say. As much as I can be a little bit merciful, my friend here cannot hold back when he gets mad. Statements like those…just trigger him off,” Well, that was one thing I had to agree with Xander much to my annoyance. My temper was quiet overboard most of the time.

“Well, none of you can touch me. An alliance was made years ago and as matter of fact, I should be reporting you for interfering. So get out of my coffee shop before this blows over,” With that she walked away.

Fuck!

“I can’t believe that some old lady is not scared of a werewolf. Does she even know how lethal we can get?” Xander questioned when we stepped outside the coffee shop.

“Instead of focusing on your hurt ego, how about we focus on what she said, little Wolf?”

“You know that one day you are going to give me the respect I deserve, right?” He was still so confident about that. Damn! He was really something to be honest but I would be damned if I admitted that aloud.

“Suck it up little Wolf. We should focus on what is important right now, “I said as we began walking away from the coffee shop.

“Right. So you think she might know something about the killings? I mean, she did say that there was a reckoning coming for us and what the fuck did we even do to the humans? Last I checked, the humans- well, the few that know of the existence of our kind- were good with us. After all, don’t we all protect the town?”

“It looks like there is more to the story than we know. I guess I gotta give my old man a visit in the city,” I said with a shrug.

“Wait, you cannot just leave right now when we are in the middle of a fucking crisis! All the packs have got to stick together and whatever this is all about, we need to figure it out before it’s too late,” His voice sounded a little bit scared and that was pretty hilarious. Should he not be the bad wolf trying to be as powerful as me?

“Relax little Wolf. Do you really think I’d leave my pack with no Alpha right now?”

“Great. So what’s the next step? Because to be honest that woman knows something but she won’t tell,”

“Then we’ll make her,” I smirked.

“How?” For an alpha, he was really naïve but he’d learn soon enough that in this world, there was no fairness as long as one got what they wanted.

“We’ll go just a tiny bit rogue on her. Meet me at three fifty five p.m. outside the gates of Woodcave High. If she won’t cooperate, then I guess with her granddaughter in our hands she will have no choice. Now, do me a favor and do not spit this to another soul; especially not to the other Alphas,”

“Why not? So you can take all the credit?”

“No dumbass. Because the less the number of people know about it, the less risky it is. We cannot afford to have another soul know about this. Now go have plenty to drink because it might get bloody and I doubt your frail wolf can take it,” I patted his back before getting into my car.

Take me Alpha
