CHAPTER 22

CHAPTER TWENTY TWO
“You need to get out of here,” His expression had changed from shocked to blank, with no trace if there was ever an emotion on his goddman glorious face.

“I do not understand. What the fuck are you doing here? D-did you kidnap that girl?” I did not want to believe it but still I knew that had to be the only reasonable explanation. It was one thing to meet the man you had a one night stand with but it was a whole other thing to realize he was freaking kidnapper.

“You know this monster?” Mrs. Heathers questioned as she approached us with curiosity written in her eyes. Monster? That proved he kidnapped that girl. Oh God! First I had a one night stand with and he is some kidnapper? I was definitely going to keep my legs closed before I find myself on the hands of a serial killer.

“We might have had an encounter a few days ago. Is he the um…Collins guy you mentioned?” I questioned, my gaze straying from hunky kidnapper to Mrs. Heathers who was now standing beside me with hands resting securely on her waist. I needed to be sure even though my premonition was clearly right.

“He is the monster that would not rest until he has wiped every one of our kind off the face of the earth,” Mrs. Heathers muttered maliciously.

“Why would you kidnap that girl? She is just a teenager living with her grandmother,” I questioned, noting how his upper jaw grinded on his lower one non-stop.

“Stay out of this Nadia. You do not know a single thing about what is happening,”

“Stay out of this? Mrs. Heathers is like family to me and you kidnapped her granddaughter. So if you really expect me to stay out of this, then put a collar on your dog, untie that girl and we’d be on our way. Trust me, I’m already tired enough from the journey and a tired me, is far more heinous than that dog of yours,” Maybe it was how naïve I suddenly felt that made this guarded and angry in a way.

“If she really is family to you, then I bet she told that is not a dog. That is the Alpha to Creek Moon Pack, one of the strongest packs in Woodcave” he pointed at the circling dog.

“What? Is that now some sort of biker gang that I’m supposed to know?”

“No. That is a werewolf pack,” then he snarled, his eyes flashing bright green and a scream left my lips consequently when I noticed the fucking canines on his teeth.

“A-Are you on some sort of drugs?” I questioned, stepping away from him. What the fuck was wrong with this town and the people in it?

“Wait, werewolf? Like fantasy novel creature werewolf?” Trina questioned, her voice a little shaken up.

“Yes and now if you know what’s best for you, leave. I’ve got business to settle with the old Lady,” his voice was cold and almost abrasive. Werewolf? I was having quite the trouble wrapping my head around that. I had sex with guy-animal or whatever he was just a few days ago and now he is not only a kidnapper but some mythical creature? Sure, this town was known for its stories about mythical creatures and heck my mother told me about them when I was just a kid but it was impossible to believe they were actually here.

“I have a gun with me and I’ve called the cops too so if you lay your hands on my friends then-Oh hey, Mr. hot Alpha guy. I certainly did not expect to see you here. What are you doing here?” Sasha questioned, looking surprised at the presence of my all too familiar one nightstand guy.

But then her gaze fell on the werewolf circling Mrs. Heather’s granddaughter,” Fuck! Is that dog on steroids or something?”

“You’d be surprised to know that it’s a werewolf. Like a fucking actual werewolf Sasha and Mr. Alpha guy is in fact one too. So yeah, once again, your rush decisions to push people into having goddamn one night stands, worked out pretty well,” Trina bit sarcastically but clearly Sasha did not believe her.

“Please, I know you’ve read a lot of Stephen Meyer and Nancy holder but Werewolves do not actually exist,” she pointed out. All this while, I was standing, my brain still trying to come into terms with all this and actually realizing that I never knew my hometown at all. What happened to the quiet, innocent town I grew up in until my whole life came tumbling down right in front of me at the age of nine?

“He is a fucking werewolf Sasha and that dog there, is a goddamn werewolf too,” Trina was getting more exasperated by the second.

“She is right Sasha. That thing right there, is no human being,” I pointed at Collins, my voice soft.

Then I turned to Mrs. Heathers who had been quiet the entire time,” Is this what you meant that I would see things not common to a human eye?”

“Yes and I’ll explain all of this later when we get my granddaughter back. Now Collins, give me back my granddaughter,” she said in a stern voice.

“Not until you tell what the hell you were talking about. I bet you do not want Nadia and her friends to know that you are in compliance with a serial killer, now would you?” It was impossible to imagine that this man standing before me was the same person who had been so damn ruthless as he took me inside that washroom and I had not given a fuck then.`

“I’m not saying a thing Collins and so give me my granddaughter back!” she was really determined.

“Look, no offense but I think this town is weird. First a kidnapping, then minutes later I learn that werewolves actually exist and your one night stand guy is one of them. Before we can even absorb that, there is some killings happening? If we make it out of here alive, we are driving the hell out of here,” Trina whispered rather harshly.

“I cannot believe I’m saying this, but I agree with Trina. We cannot celebrate your twenty fourth birthday here. All this is fucking phsycho shit and I do not want to be part of it. I love drama and such but this is next level,” Sasha whispered back. Ah! My birthday. I had forgotten that it would be two nights.

My gaze for a second connected with Collins and even though it was brief, I saw his expression soften a bit. Maybe Trina was right but I needed to find the person who took my entire family down and I was not going to just back out like that. Taking gamble, I stepped closer to Collins even though I could feel severy part of me painted with dread.

“Look, I only got here today and I still cannot understand what the fuck is going on but I just need you to take a look at that girl strapped onto that chair with that wolf of yours. She is scared and something like this, could scar her forever. Now, you may not know a thing about living with a scarred memory feels like but I do and that shit make you wanna kill yourself every single morning. So please, if there is even a bit of humanity in you, let go of that girl and you can talk to Mrs. Heathers about whatever the hell it is,”

For a moment, his gaze remained hardened and I was afraid that my tactic had not worked. Maybe there was indeed no humanity in him but then suddenly, he sighed, walking over to the wolf circling the scared girl.

“Alright Xander. I guess we’ll have to resort to something else and for the record Heathers, this is only just the beginning and for my pack, I would do anything to protect it from that fucking serial killer you are protecting,” he then turned to the wolf, signaling to it with a flick of his head before he walked out of the warehouse with it in tow.

“You did not actually call the cops, did you?” Trina questioned.

“Please, I do not even own a gun. I was just trying to be careful and scare him off,”

“Now I need a full explanation of what the hell is going on in this town, Mrs. Heathers,” I spoke, as I helped untie her granddaughter.

Take me Alpha
