CHAPTER 50
CHAPTER FIFTY
I paced beside the bed, casting a quick glance at the woman lying on the bed. If something happened to her, that Drake guy was going to pay with his head. Right that minute, William budged in. So he was now awake after God knows how long? Everyone had long left and it was way past midnight but I could not leave until Nadia was conscious again.
“What the fuck did you do to her, you bastard?” I didn’t see the balled fist coming until it hit me on the jaw, making me totter back on impact. Well, the guy was quite a good puncher.
“And who is this mortal now,? Right. I almost forgot about Drake sitting on armchair at the corner of the room, one leg crossed casually over the other. His presence of course irked me so much but at this point I really had no control over it. More importantly its because it had struck me that he’d never do anything to hurt her and as much as I did not trust him, he seemed to know about this assassin.
“Fiancée and who the hell are you?” William bit back, shooting a onceover at Drake.
“You mean ex-fiancée,” I corrected him, crossing my arms.
“That wouldn’t matter once I take her away from you. I don’t know what you did to her but whatever craziness you’ve got her entangled in, I’m going to free her from it, “He said as he walked over to where Nadia was lying, attempting to pick her up.
“I wouldn’t do that if I were you William,” I snapped. He wasn’t taking her anywhere. At least not while I was still alive. Considering he was just a mere mortal, he was the one in danger of not leaving alive.
“Put her down,” Drake thundered, a second before the same words almost slipped off my tongue.
“Try and stop me,” Even I would not dare mess with hybrid.
“I was only being nice,” In a second, Drake had him by the neck, forcing him to drop Nadia back on the bed. The hybrid apparently wasn’t done and in an instant, he pushed William against the wall, his fangs sinking into jugular. Oh God! This was why I hated vampires and hybrids. I covered the distance between us and using every ounce of energy in my body, I pushed him off.
“What the…” William didn’t get to finish his sentence as he sagged forward unconscious, his fingers closed over his jugular.
“Seriously?” I snapped at Drake, feeling like I was just about to lose the last bit of control I had. Tolerating his presence was hard enough but him coming after a mortal was making it extremely difficult for me to keep my fangs and claws in check.
“What? He should have kept his hands to himself,” he shrugged then grimaced as he glanced at his stained suit,” It was the only one of its kind. Where am I supposed to get another one when the designer was such a tasty meal?”
“Can you just leave before I lose my temper?” I seethed through grinded jaws.
“I’d love to see you lose it,” he smirked as he resumed his earlier position on the armchair.
Choosing to ignore to him, I crouched down to check the intensity of his bite on William. The fangs had not sunk deep but there was blood seeping from it. Fishing for my phone, I dialed Jaden’s number.
“This better be good. I was just about to propose to Selena Gomez in my dream,” he grumbled.
“We have a situation that may involve a mortal,”
“Did Drake turn another mortal into a hybrid?” his voice was now alert.
“I don’t think so or at least I hope the venom isn’t enough to turn him or kill him. Look, I need you to get at Nadia’s place and bring whatever medical tools you have. The fucking Hybrid went rogue and almost tore a mortal into pieces. I mean, the wound isn’t deep and so I’m hoping that nothing bad happens,” I said, one hand resting on the arc of my waist. This was supposed to be a fucking merry night but things just had to go haywire and ruin everything.
“Just give me ten minutes,” he cut off the call.
I resumed pacing, this time double stressed. On one hand was William who just didn’t know when to quit and on the other hand, was Nadia, a woman that kept on growing on me every second I got to take in a breath.
“You know, if I were you, I wouldn’t get my hopes up. Nadia and I were destined for each other. Once she wakes up, I can guarantee you she’ll be different. Let’s say, she’ll be more of herself. I thought of ripping you apart for getting that close to her but then I realized something. Nothing would bring me much satisfaction as watching you lose her to me. See the way her face glowed because of just mere fireworks? Well, that is just the beginning of it all. Nadia is my destined mate and I will have her,” it was not a threat but more of a promise.
“Well, we’ll see about that. You maybe a hybrid and blabbering shit about her being your promised mate or whatever but at the end of the day, I’ll be the on taking her out for coffee. So you are the one who shouldn’t get your hopes up. It would be such a shame for an original hybrid to lose to a mere Alpha,” It as my turn to smirk.
“Keep on dreaming boy,” he smirked.
A slight groan had me turning around, rushing to her bedside. Her eyes slowly opened and for a second, they remained unfocused but then they widened as she started back.
“Stay the hell away from me,” she screamed.
“Nadia. Its me, Collins,” Her brain had to be a little mugged.
“Of course I know who you are Collins. I remember now. I remember every single detail of that night when you father murdered my entire family. I had an older brother Greg, my best friend Harry, my mother and father but I lost them all that night because of him. So if you value yourself that much, walk away before its get bloody right now,” Pain and rage flowed forcefully in her tone.
My father did what?
