CHAPTER 37

CHAPTER THIRTY SEVEN
NADIA’S POV
One definition of how I feel about my life right now was I that I fucking hate it. Sasha had arrived pretty much ten minutes after Collin’s abruptly left the room when he called me an imposter for whatever reason. As I changed into one of the dresses, I quickly narrated what had happened and by the time I was done, Sasha’s jaw was hanging on the ground.

“So…um…you are saying Trina is a…werewolf just like Collins? Like with claws and fangs and fur?” she questioned as we made our way to the basement. I had no time to waste. I needed to see my friend. I had to see I done to her.

“Well, according to Mrs. Heathers, she is something else like a half vampire half werewolf. I don’t even know how it works,” I said as we stopped outside the basement where Ethan was standing, talking to another man. A scowl immediately crossed his face.

“Oh, great, the human is here and she is bring another human, “the sourness in his tone was evident. Sometimes it made me wonder why he hated me so much when we barely knew each other. For all I cared, I was the one who should be loathing him and his kind. They killed my parents so brutally and literally took my childhood away from me. Yet, here I was, barely tolerating them just because my best friend was unlucky enough to cross roads with one of them.

“Good morning to you too Ethan. We are here to take Trina with us,” I stated point blank.

He chuckled,” Are you being serious right now? You cannot take Trina,”

“Why not? It cannot possibly be that bad,” Sasha shrugged.

“Oh, you have no idea,” Ethan chuckled as he led the way inside after nodding to the other man.

A shriek escaped the back of my throat when my gaze landed on the woman behind the glass wall. There was blood all over her dress with some of it tainting the side of her mouth. Gut wrenchingly enough, she was ravenously drinking from a blood bag. At the sound of my voice, she moved so fast, throwing the blood bag aside, growling and if it were not for the glass wall, she would have sped right through. Her growling was animalistic and very scary as though she could anyone apart.

“T-Trina?” A tear escaped my eyes, rolling down my cheeks but I was only met by another growl.

“It’s us Trina. Your best friends Sasha and Nadia,” Sasha attempted in a shaky voice but Trina only growls louder, growing very agitated with each growl.

“For now, she doesn’t recognize any of you. Her emotions and every brain activity is on a high speed right now, trying to fit in. My advice, go home, take a bath and wait. She’ll eventually calm down. The last thing she needs, is you two around. I know you obviously want to stay around for your friend but right now, you are both not good for her. As much as it irks me to say this but I’ll see to it that your friend remains in great hands,”

“But-“I started but Sasha beat me to it.

“You know he is right. We are human and if the legends say it right, she obviously wants to tear us apart. The wolf-guys have better advantage at fighting but we are technically defenseless,” She said.

I glanced one time at Trina, tears cascading done my cheeks as I whispered,” I don’t know how but I’m going to make this right Trina,”

On our way out, we ran into Collins on the verandah of his house. He seemed agitated as he talked to Mrs. Heathers but right now, I did not want to deal with both of them anymore. The moment they both sensed our presence, they turned their full attention to us.

“We need to talk Nadia,” Collins jaw was drawn tight as he seethed. Mrs. Heathers wore the same expression, her usually pale cheeks, red with anger.

“No, I don’t need to talk to any of you. This-whatever this sick twisted world of yours is, I don’t want any part in it. Once I figure out how to get Trina out of this mess I dragged her into, I’m leaving. One thing though, when I find that Drake guy, he is going to get it from me. Nobody messes with my best friend and lives to tell it,” That was a promise I tended to keep.

“And I’ll be there to support her,” Sasha backed me as we walked past the two people but Collins grabbed my hand.

“You don’t understand how it works Nadia,”

“You are right. I don’t and I don’t care either,” I pulled my arm from his tight grasp and he let go of me.

As I sat in the front passenger seat, I could not help regret touching ever part of mine. I should have listened to Trina and not set foot in this town. Now she was paying for my blind choices. We stopped at a coffee shop and as I sipped from a cup of coffee, all I could picture was just Trina looking like a blood murderer.

“It’s all my fault,” I spoke softly, trying to push back the tears threatening to fall out of my eyes.

“No, it’s not. We just happened to be in this town at the wrong time,”

“You don’t get it. She didn’t want to be here and I still dragged her into it. I’m to blame for this Sasha,”

“Stop blaming yourself Nadia. If she didn’t want to be here, she would never have tagged along. Look, I’m a bit hurt though that you didn’t tell us the truth about your parents and why exactly you wanted to be here,”

“I didn’t want to burden you with my baggage. When I met you guys, you became family to me and I swore that I would not make you bear my messed up childhood baggage. Around you, I began feeling that I actually belonged but now I’ve messed it all up,” I sighed sadly.

“No, you didn’t mess anything up. We are going to fix all this and go back to our normal lives. We are going to do this together. We are strong women and this should not change that,” I smiled a little at that.

“Great. First thing, I need to find this Drake guy,” I said, my tone laced with determination.

“Did I hear somebody mention my name?” I spun around, my gaze falling on a man probably in his mid-twenties, wearing a suit and a dashing smile. He was quiet good-looking but there was something about that dashing smile on his face that screamed danger in a way.

“Sorry?” I stared at his dumbfound.

“Hello Mate,” The smile never faltered from his lips.
