CHAPTER 53

CHAPTER FIFTY THREE
COLLINS POV
“Dammit!” I groaned, clutching my head as I attempted to sit up but instead found myself flopping back against the softness of the mattress, another groan leaving my lips. My head hurt so damn bad and it almost felt like someone was hammering the skull in my head with so much force.

“If I were you, I wouldn’t try to get up,” Danny’s voice sounded like he was speaking next to my ear in a damn microphone.

“W-What happened?” I managed to slip up the question, my eyes falling tightly shut as I tried to repress the pain in my head.

“Isn’t it obvious? You had a little bit too much to drink. So not only are you a weak werewolf but you can’t even handle a few bottles,” Wait, that was nowhere close to being Danny’s voice.

My eyes shot open and at the sight of the person standing right in front of me in a mere bathrobe, I instantly forgot about my throbbing headache as annoyance and disdain instantly taking over.

“Drake,” I sat up, stepping off the bed in a very unfamiliar place, my body feeling as much alert as my nerves. How the hell did I end up here and with him of all people? Backup, where exactly was I in the first place?

“I see you’ve now fully woken up,” He sat down on a couch, a glass filled with fresh human blood in his hands. The mere sight of it was as revolting as the scent. How the hell does one even take the pleasure in sucking the life out of an innocent human being? I wasn’t one to judge anyway because my father had gone ahead and done the exact same thing to Nadia’s family.

“What is going on here?” I questioned. Last thing I remember was that I was confronting him at the bar and then…why the hell couldn’t I remember anything after that? Had I really been that drunk?

“Isn’t it obvious? I played the knight in a shining for the damsel in distress,” he took a sip of the blood, a smirk growing too obvious on his face. Damsel in distress? He better not be talking about me.

“Cut the bullshit Drake,” I gritted my teeth, afraid I’d lose my temper and crush him into pieces if one more word was to slip off his lips.

“That is no way to speak to a man that brought your drunk ass to his house. I mean, I could have used that chance to crush your skull for all the stupid things you’ve been doing lately. Poisoning my meals with vervain, really? Do you know that I had to drive outside town just to get a decent breakfast?”

“I’m out of here,” I began walking out.

“I wasn’t stopping you,” he said, making my eyebrows narrow in suspicion but I chose to let it go and instead stepped out of the rather lavish mansion.

The very bright morning rays were not exactly favorable to my eyes and I had to squint just to avoid the unwelcome sudden heat. My eyes ran around the place, scanning the neighborhood and just to my utter dismay, this was the same neighborhood I used to live with my parents before they moved back to the city. They called it the Elites Estate because only the top one percent of the rich people in Woodcave lived here. Of course, Drake would go for a place like this. He was a part vampire after all and if there was one thing very common with vampires, it was their insatiable quest for the luxuries of life. Ugh! I hated vampires.

Wait, my phone. I searched in my pockets and thankfully found it in my front pocket. There were seven missed calls and several messages asking where I was from Danny, typical best friend, two missed called from Jaden, one from Xander which was pretty unexpected and none from my father and Nadia. A sad sigh escaped my lips. What was I expecting anyway? That she’d call me and ask me to come over? Fuck it! I dialed my father’s number and this time he picked up on the second ring.

“You know I do not appreciate you-“ he began in his usual abrasive manner which was nothing short than what I had expected. After I refused to listen to him about Laila, we had a huge fallout and I’m pretty sure if he found out Laila and I were no more, he’d be very happy.

“And neither do I appreciate having to pay for your sins father,” Rage was once again flooding every brain cell in my body and nothing I did could make it come down a notch.

“What are you talking about?” He questioned.

“You know I had one good thing going right for me. It was all going so great but only for you to ruin it. Why the hell did you do it?”

“Do what?”

“You killed the entire Dela Fuente family and now the woman I want hates me just for having blood relations with the man that slaughtered her entire family in cold blood,” I snapped.

“What are-Did you say the Dela Fuente Family? H-How do you know about them?” There was a certain edginess to his voice right now. Instead of sounding shocked, he sounded more of scared.

“Does the name Nadia Dela Fuente ring a bell Dad?”

“But that’s impossible. S-She is not supposed to be alive. Are you sure you are speaking about the one Nadia Dela Fuente?” He stuttered. I could almost picture him breaking into a sweat.

“Just what do you know Dad?” My impatience was thickening.

“I’m coming to Woodcave and whatever happens, stay away from Nadia or whoever she is. If it is really her, then she is no friend and she only means death,”

“I’m not-“

“Listen to me for once Collins. In a few hours, I’ll be in Woodcave so stay put,” he instructed as he cut off the phone call.
