CHAPTER 42

CHAPTER FORTY TWO
I grimaced at my reflection in the mirror. Not only am I wearing a dead man’s suit pants and dress shirt but I was pretty uncomfortable with tightness. The shirt sleeves were threatening to break against the tightness of my muscles and if I made a wrong move with my butt, it was sure as hell ready to break through the clothes. From the corner of my eye, I caught sight of Nadia trying to hold back a laugh.

“Don’t have too much fun Nadia at the expense of my discomfort because we both know when I break through these clothes, you won’t be laughing any longer. I’ll have you bend over before you can call my name,” I smirked.

“You are so cocky, aren’t you?” she shook her head but I did not miss the amusement in her eyes.

“I don’t think being this confident counts as cocky,”

“You are definitely cocky,” she shrugged.

A knock on the door resounded in the room and she walked towards it, yanking it open and I caught a glimpse of her bubbly friend.

“There are some guys downstairs asking for Collins,” she said.

Nadia half turned around,” Must be your guys,”

I grabbed my phone, and walked out of the room but I did not miss how her friend’s eyes hovered over me. Well, that was certainly a boost to my pride. Sure enough, Ethan had arrived with five of the best sentinels in the pack.

“Ethan,”

“Who is the assassin? “He did not waste a second in questioning but then a frown deepened on his face as he glanced behind me,” Are you fucking kidding me right now? You lied to me about finding the assassin so we could protect your little fuckmate?”

I grabbed the collar of his shirt,” She is not my fuckmate. She is more than that and if you want me to rip you into tiny pieces, then go ahead and call her that again,”

“You know that you don’t always have to come to my rescue every time somebody decides to be mean to me. Trust me, I can take just about anything,” Nadia said, her sleek fingers wrapping around my wrist. For some reason, her touch calmed me.

I tore away my gaze from Ethan, leaning away. Nadia never let go of me and that feeling, felt way too damn great. I didn’t want her to let go of me, ever.

“Just for both our sake, learn your lanes Ethan. Now,” I turned my attention to the rest of the wolves,” I may not be hundred percent right but not only do we have an original hybrid werewolf on loose but he may actually be the one killing the wolves,”

Trevor chuckled with the rest joining him,” No offense Alpha but you don’t actually expect us to believe that an original hybrid werewolf exists. Look, it was a good prank while it lasted but now we have more important things to worry about, like who the hell is killing werewolves in town. We are supposed to be preparing for Bane’s burial right now,”

I was about to explain it to them when somebody else beat me to it.

“I see you brought your little cub team. Uh, it would have been one delicious evening if I didn’t happen to have other pressing concerns,” My eyes snapped to the man standing on the now wide open door, wearing an irritating smirk.

Instantly he was met by a loud, united growl from my pack. He remained unfazed by it but I felt Nadia’s grip tighten around my arm, a scent of fear swaying over her. Even though her face remained passive, the fear was evident.

“I know you are the one who killed those wolves,”

“Me?” he scoffed,” I would have been honored if I had killed those wolves. The thing is, you are not exactly smart and even after I gave a clue before, you still can’t figure. Trust me, the past is the definition of Karma. It’s really biting your ass right now and you have no idea, just how pleasant it is to see you being so worked up like. Finally, the end of your family line is here. I can almost smell it,” He chuckled.

“You think you can play around with me like that? I know you are the one killing the wolves and one way or the other, I’m going to prove it soon,” I seethed, trying to hold back my agitated wolf from taking over.

“Don’t be so full of yourself Alpha boy. To be honest, I don’t even blame this….assassin for killing your wolves. You started it first and he is going to finish the entire packs in this town. Well, maybe not all since I want some left over for my own hybrid pack. So I’ll give you a little more time just so I can watch you get worked up and in dire pain. Oh, and one more thing, I warned you before to stay away from her and you didn’t listen. There won’t be a second warning,” he then sped out of the room.

“That was a hybrid,” Ethan was the first one to recover from his shock.

“The original one and you all heard him,”

“How can we defeat someone who is both a werewolf and a vampire? Do you have any idea just how hard that is going to be? He’d probably kill us all or drink our blood,” Trevor pointed out.

“The hybrids were defeated once before and I know that somehow, we can defeat him. Right now, we have something that I’m pretty sure he wants,” I paused, watching everyone’s face.

“Trina,” Ethan said in realization.

“Yeah. Now, you five are going to stay guard and entire night and Ethan and I will go back at the pack house, carry out a meeting and see what next. Agreed?”

Trevor glanced at the other sentinels,” For the pack, yes. Besides, if he shows up again, we are going to teach him a lesson,”

“Don’t get to cocky Trevor but just so you know, we’ll get him,” I patted on the shoulder with my free hand.

When I turned around, there was a distant fear in Nadia’s eyes but when my lips parted to say something, she stopped me with her index finger on my lips,” Don’t say anything. Go back to the pack house and figure this out,”
Take me Alpha
