CHAPTER 57

CHAPTER FIFTY SEVEN
“Sorry won’t change a single thing. We did this to her and we need to change it before it gets too far. She never wanted to come here and I was one of the people that pushed her into it. Look, I’m sorry I got mad at you for calling that vampire guy fro back-up but…what if this hybrid person is the only one who can actually help us with Trina? He is exactly like Trina and he would know what we should do to revive the old her,” She pointed out.

My mind flashed back to Miranda’s words in the car a few minutes back.

“You know, you are more naïve than I last remembered. How could you trust a hybrid more so an original one with vampire blood so blindly? Drake is known for his selfishness. He only cares about himself and I don’t care if he made you believe he gave a shit about you but you need to steer clear of him,”

I wanted to believe her but at the same time, I was torn between taking my time to prepare like she’d suggested and going after Carson White at this very moment. Even though I would never admit it out loud, there was something about Drake that made me want to trust him even if a bit. Yet I knew better than to trust someone like him when his intentions of me were not clear.

“We can’t trust anybody, Sasha and you were actually right about me being impulsive. My thoughts weren’t clear because I was raging and its kind of hard to deal with the fact that the guy I actually like is someone’s whose father I want to murder in cold blood,” I sat down, releasing a sigh. Yes, I definitely liked Collins and I wanted nothing more than to let that piece of hunk do the dirtiest of things to me but my hatred for his father and his kind entirely was slowly surpassing whatever I felt for him.

“What happened to you back there?”

“Let’s just say I met the devil himself. He was standing right in front of me and I’ve never thirsted to end someone’s life like I did at that moment,” I paused, closing my eyes briefly before opening,” I wanted to kill him, Sasha. I didn’t stop to think that I could get hurt or my friends could get hurt too. All I cared was to see him drawing his last breath in dire pain. This is why I need to get prepared to see him without losing my shit,”

She reached over the table, placing her palm on mine as a crestfallen look dressed over her face,” I can’t say I understand how exactly you are feeling but we actually do need that Hybrid and as soon as possible. I know you want time but trust me, that’s the one thing we actually don’t have. We need Drake right now. How else are we going to get Trina back before its too late? We can distance ourselves from him after that,”

“Actually, Drake already has her but I have no idea where he took her,” I pointed out.

“Wait, what?”

“Well, in my moment of distraction he slipped away with her. I have no idea how he got to the basement without notice and left with no trace but we need to find him. The problem is that I have no idea how. Where does he even stay?” I questioned, throwing my hands in the air as I shrugged helplessly.

“Fuck! So now not only do we have Murderer who son you are infatuated with but also our friend on the loose with someone whose intentions are not very clear. Oh, here comes Mrs. Heathers. I sure hope she’d got some good news,” She said just as older woman came int view bearing two coffee cups.

“You know if you are going to sit at my coffee shop, the least you can do is actually drink the coffee,” She did sound less of the strict woman she always was. Maybe she was a bearer of good news.

“I do hope that coffee comes with excellent news. Did you talk to the witches?” I asked, taking a sip of the drink. Its like she knew how bad I needed that coffee at this moment. Everything was spiraling so fast around me and I was having a hard time grasping the reality of what my life had turned into suddenly.

“Unfortunately, the coven I was reaching out to, finds its extremely hard to believe that you are alive. Not to mention, apparently the witches signed a treaty with the wolves never to interfere with anything in Woodcave. Magic is basically forbade here and so now we have no witch on our side,” How was it possible that this day could get this worse?

“And here I thought maybe something was going to go right today,” Sasha said the exact thing running through my mind.

“Can’t I just get my memories back without a witch? I mean, in movies they always do some medical procedure and boom! The person gets all their memories back,”

“Only in movies,” Sasha sighed,” But we don’t have time to wait around for her memories to come back. We need a plan and fast,”

“Wait, witch. I think we actually have one right here in town,” I paused, taking in their curious expressions,” Miranda Townsend,”

“She won’t eb of any help, trust me. As much as her family has been acquainted with magic, they signed off the right to practice it in town. See, before the supernatural beings in this town separated, there were some minor…disparities of power. Your family, The Townsends and The Millers, were quiet close and-“

“Sorry to disrupt you but who are the Millers?”

“Oh, Harry’s grandparents. Both the Millers and Townsends came from a long line of witches and since they didn’t want to move out of town, Carson White forced them to sign a treaty declaring they will never practice magic. Miranda won’t eb of any help to you because she basically knows nothing about magic and nor would she risk her neck for that,”

“Well, you are wrong. Because just a few minutes ago, she saved me from being torn apart by Carson using magic. I think Miranda will help and since she is my childhood best friend who happened to hold a very deep loathe for Carson for killing Harry, I know we can count on her. Maybe even talking to her about my childhood might help recover some of my memories,” I pointed out.

“Miranda used magic?” Mrs. Heathers seemed to be in shock.

“Yes. She had apparently been teaching herself in secret but that’s good, right?” I shrugged.

“Good? You just put the poor girl’s life in danger along with her entire family and everyone she associates with it. I always knew Miranda was somewhat of a rebel but I just never thought she was that reckless. If the wolves caught even a glance of her, she is dead,” The worry in her voice and eyes made me realize maybe I was underestimating how dangerous the werewolves were.

“But she is the only one with magic within reach that we know of,” I pointed out. Maybe I was risking her life but she was the only witch I knew. I needed to unlock my memories and know what it is exactly I was that made the werewolves kill my entire family.

“And do you think having her blood or anyone to her in your mind for the rest of your life is worth it?” She countered.

“Fine. I’ll just have to go old school and figure it all out without my memories,” I paused,” you said that I had a twin brother. Adrian, right? Could you tell me about him?”

“I don’t think this is the- “

“It is the time, Mrs. Heathers. Look, I’m running out of time, options and patience. The only clues I have about my past is that the fire that was supposed to have killed me and Adrian was a cover up and two, Drake once tried to warn me about the Whites and the one clue he gave me was Adrian. So I want to know what he meant by that,” At the mention of Adrian I noticed some sort of look cross Mrs. Heathers’ eyes but she was quick to cover it up before I could decipher its meaning.

“Look, there is nothing much to tell about Adrian. He was only eight when the poor boy lost his life in that tragic fire. Maybe we shouldn’t talk about someone who is dead and instead focus on our immediate problem which is Carson White. The nerve of that man to show up in this town after the mess he made with the hunters,” It was kind of suspicious how she suddenly seemed so guarded up. She knew something and whatever it was, she was not going to tell it to me easily.
