Chapter 27
I'm now arguing with Indigo in the parking lot of the school. He was leaning against his automobile, waving his hands as if ordering a driver to back up their car, and had called my name, rather loudly. I walked over to him, rolling my eyes and looking at him suspiciously. "Hey, come on in." "Didn't your mom ever warn you about stranger danger?". I replied, my gaze narrowed at him. "Dumbass, you're one of my friends." He mutters something. "Anyway, let's get this party started. Gabriel – I mean, the Alp – wishes to see you." "Tell him that he needs to let it go. I'm weary and hungry, so I'll be leaving now." I mutter under my breath, my arms crossed across my chest.
He gives me a fake amazement expression. "I enjoy it when you do get all sassy, but go in now before I force him to come down here personally." Before circling the car and dragging myself inside, I toss my head back then sigh exaggeratedly. When Indigo grins at me as I buckle up, I roll my eyes at him before igniting the car and drive out of the gates. The radio is playing an unknown music, and Ryan's window is open, causing my open hair to bounce around madly. When he spots my hair, he looks across at me with a guilty expression on his face and closes the window.
"What is it that he wants me to do if I go over to his house? Isn't he aware that there are other coffee shops and other places where people may meet up? I do not want him to murder me at a place where no one will ever hear my screams." I babble, a little nervously. "What makes you think he'd murder you?" Indigo's brows furrow in bewilderment as he casts a sidelong glance at me before returning his gaze to the road. "I'm not sure if I labeled him as a fat-ass." "You said he was fat?" Ryan laughs loudly, which makes me mockingly twitch my finger. "Fat-ass, my beloved friend,". I lean back in my chair, nodding in agreement.
"We had a disagreement." He asked me to meet him within school hours to chat, but I'm currently in hot water with the principle, so one thing got into another, and I called him a number of things before sending him on his way!" Indigo's body trembles as he attempts to contain his laughter, and I give him a cheeky grin. I can't hear him whisper something just under his breath since it's so low. The car rattles as we approach the woods, traveling down the dirt track until it spreads out onto clean asphalt, just as I'm ready to confront him based on what he had said.
I look up at the enormous homes I saw the last time I was here; I'm not sure why so many people live in such close quarters, but I might not have much time to worry about it as we race past the buildings and approach a familiar mansion by a gleaming lake. My tummy flutters with butterflies at the prospect of seeing him again, but anger rises as well. I'd attempted to ask him regarding his eyes again again, only to then be gunned down and diverted.
We pull into the garage and park alongside the long walkway which leads to the front door. I sigh and pout at Ryan, who responds with a giggle and jumps out from the car. Gabriel perplexes me to no end! I'm not sure what I'm feeling for him. Tingles, sparks, and all that nonsense are only found in literature, not in real life! I straighten up as I approach up the steps then into the home, almost coming to a halt when I see his delectable body on the sofa, typing away using his laptop. He's dressed in a navy blue shirt along with the sleeves pushed up to his elbows, showing his strong arms' visible veins. His legs are hidden behind a pair of black jeans pushed up right on top of the coffee table.
I grin and begin heading closer to him, the sounds of my sneakers on the tiled floor causing him to raise his eyes to me. When he sees me place my luggage on one of the sofas and come over to him, he gets a pout on his kissable lips. When I reach him, he lifts his legs away from the table then sits up taller in his seat. I smirk at him as I lean down to examine his features. When he scowls at me and swats my hands away, I teased, pinching his cheek and chuckling. "Amanda, that's not funny."
"It belongs to me!" Before wandering around the huge living area, I shout with laughing. "Don't tell me you're upset about it and now you expect me to apologize. To be clear, friend, you walked right into that one." My gaze is drawn to a picture showing six people in a frame. I observe a younger Gabriel and immediately recognize it as a family photo. I can see he got his father's looks from him. While I'm staring at the photo frames on the mantle, I don't realize that Gabriel has grown unusually silent.
I turned around to see him already watching, but his green eyes flashed with apprehension. As his palm scratches the back of his neck and his eyes flutter about the room, he almost appears afraid to speak what's on his mind. He lets out a sigh and crosses his arms at the same time. When he pushes up his chest to try himself look more frightening, I nearly laugh out loud. "You'll be staying with us for a some days." Gabriel declares, leaving no opportunity for further debate. If it hadn't been for my brain yelling at me to comprehend what he had just stated, I would have lost myself in admiring him. My eyes bulge and I look at him, puzzled. "Look, when you're not around me, you'll be in danger, and that's something I don't want." It's difficult to put into words. Please just remain here till it's all finished, okay?" "No." As he glares at me, I shrug. "I'd like to know what kind of danger I'm in. I'll remain if the situation is serious." Otherwise, I'm returning home." "I already told you how tough it is for me to –" "Bye!"
As I turn to leave the home, I give a wave. He appears in front of me in an instant, blocking my progress. As he looks down at me, his dark green eyes flash with passion and rage, and his lips contort into a grimace. He bends down quickly, clutching the front of his nose, and slings me onto his shoulder.
