Chapter 74

My duffel bag is already waiting to be loaded into the car downstairs. As I go down the stairs, I run into Gabriel in the kitchen. Thankfully, he has donned a shirt, otherwise I would have been swooning over him till I left. He sets a dish of French toast just in front of me, and I give him an appreciative grin. I tuck in since I need to eat before I go. I finish eating and wipe my dish before checking my phone to see what time it is—6 in the morning. It didn't take long to go to the airport, which is good. Gabriel asks whether I'm ready to proceed and then twists our hands together. As he leads me to the garage and removes a key from one of the hooks to open a Mercedes Benz, I gently squeeze it. I climbed into the passenger seat and buckled in, setting my duffel bag in the rear. He grabs my hand, kisses the top of my knuckles, then intertwines our hands on his thigh as he pulls out of the driveway and onto the smooth strip of tarmac.
"You need to check in every day and have your phone on at all times." He says, gravely, and I nod in agreement as I look out the window and watch the woodland smear into a mass of green. If something happens, call me right away. "Don't worry, I will. In addition, your troops are with me, so I'll be OK. " I turn to face him and grin comfortingly as he growls.
"You are a significant person; a Queen—since you are a Lycan's mate. Given that you recently suffered an attack, I shouldn't be letting you leave my territory. There are individuals out there who solely wish to undermine me, and using you is the most effective way for them to do it. Keep your phone on, please, okay? " When he stares at me and then turns to face the road, he begs with anxiety in his eyes.
"I understand you, my dear. I swear to keep it on and be near my guards at all times. " I mutter, softly grasping his hand in an effort to calm him down.
We finally reach the airport, where many students are waiting, after about twenty minutes of driving. I can see several of the friends from my group waiting at the entrance's glass doors as we get closer. Before getting out of the automobile, Gabriel puts it to a halt. Theo parks are close by. He wanted to be assigned as my personal guard because we belong to the same buddy group and he is ostensibly preparing to be a warrior.
When I turn around, I notice that both of the men's eyes are glazed over, suggesting that they are speaking through a mental connection. I awaited their conclusion. I cross my arms and lean up against the vehicle, picking at the ends of my sweater. Gabriel finally gives him a nod before handing him my duffle bag. I only nod in answer as he gestures at me and heads towards the door, informing me that he'll see me inside. Some of the students are observing Gabriel and me with curious eyes. mostly directed towards Gabriel. His menacing appearance and powerful frame have the boys scowling; they can see how much power and strength he possesses. But the girls are looking at him like he's a piece of meat. I suddenly get a wave of envy, shocking me as I glare angrily at the females. My stream of thinking is interrupted by a husky laugh, and I look up to see Gabriel, who has moved closer to posing in front of me.
"Are you jealous, mi Rosá?" (My Rose.)
"No!"
He lifts an eyebrow as if to ask, "Really?" and I snap, looking up at him.
He moves in close till our lips are only a breath apart and looks into my grey eyes.
"It's alright. I'm totally yours, my love. There is nothing to be concerned about. " My words are interrupted as his lips touch mine and I begin to object. But the loud honk of a passing bus interrupts us, causing me to scream and break away from Gabriel before he could intensify the kiss as I anticipated he would based on his lusty growl.
He growls and glares in that way before turning to face me, making me flush violently. He groans and draws me in, putting his forehead on mine.
"I think it's about time for you to go."
Standing on my toes, I murmur and put my arms around his neck.
"I'll see you Monday," I said. I mumble before hastily pecking his lips, then I back away. He remains there, determined to stay until the jet takes off, watching me leave with an unidentified emotion in his eyes. The passionate looks I get from the girls make me smirk, while the boys just seem defeated.
I mutter, "Good," and smile inside. They probably couldn't ever make me happy the way Gabriel does. Kayla is waiting at the check-in line for me, so I say hello to her and giggle as she grabs my elbow and raves about how "Mystery Man" is the "coolest and sexiest guy she has ever seen." I turn to wave at Gabriel as I turn to look back for the final time, and he responds by staring back with granite features and steely eyes.
In an effort to cheer him up, I blew him a kiss and shook my head. To my great joy, I am successful. I observe as a tiny smile appears on his lips before it quickly fades away. I smile at my buddies who are waiting to board on the black recliners next to each other as I go forward in the line and go through the security checks. Kayla's hand is in mine as I lead the way. She settles down next to Max, and I take the last available seat next to Kaden.
"Let's start this celebration!" My companions yell and celebrate as I make my declaration, and I giggle. We had a lot of energy for a Friday morning. When I poke Kaden, he shakes his head and rolls his eyes at me. Finally, grinning, he jumps in on the applause.
Here we go to Rome!
