Chapter 37

After such an hour of terrible pain known as detention, I arrive home. After putting the empty dish of food on my desk, I turn off my laptop and stretch, pleased with myself for finishing my weekend assignments. I walked out of my bathroom and grabbed my laptop after changing into my jammies and sliding on some knee-length socks because my bare legs are chilly.
While I waited for my laptop to turn on, I settle in beneath the covers and make myself comfy, getting a bowl of popcorn just from the bedside table. I browse Netflix for a while before settling on a decent-looking film and pressing play. My evening is gonna be extremely dull. So I reasoned. I wake up to loud thumping reverberating throughout the house a few hours later. I realize I'd dozed off at some point during the movie. I sit up, grumbling beneath my breath, and hate whoever it is who woke me up.
As the commotion grows louder and more furious, I stand fully awake, my pulse racing with panic as I cautiously descend the stairs and enter the kitchen. I tip toe toward door and press my ear against it, snatching a knife along with a saucepan, my sole weapons at the time. "W-Who is it, exactly?" My voice shakes. "Amanda...me, it's Gabriel," says Gabriel. Please open the door." At the end, his voice becomes softer. I exhaled a sigh of relief before opening the door and returning to the kitchen. There is silence after he shuts the door behind him. When I got to the counter, I placed my "guns" back where they belonged.
I turn around and take him in the same way he does with me. His dark brown hair is ruffled, as if he ran his hands on it a thousand times, and he's developing a little beard that makes him look even more macho than he already does. His green eyes are sad and dull, and his clothing are crumpled, as if he doesn't care how he appears. "I'm sorry, but the loud hammering frightened me." I wasn't expecting you to show up." I fidget with the base of my pajama shirt in shame. As he twists me around to face him, the classic sparks as well as those tingles flutter on my skin, then I bite back a gasp.
I decided I won't look up at him, his hypnotic eyes could make me do anything if I kept my head down as well as my eyes closed. "I've been missing you, Mi hermosa dama," I pull back to stare into his eyes as he speaks quietly. (My beautiful lady) "I'm sorry," I confess, caressing his cheek. "I wanted to meet you, but I had so many class tests this week, so I couldn't." I was planning on coming over tomorrow because today was my final one."He grabs my hand and leads me for us to the couch, where he makes me to sit upon his lap while forcefully hugging me from behind.
His fingertips trace a lazy path across my arms, causing me to sweat profusely. Whatever this guy does to me, my God. It's as if I'm always cold and yearning for a source of warmth, and he's always available just to supply it. His hand lowers from my cheek, sliding down till he grasps my hips. I opened my mouth trying to say something, but his lips descend upon mine, cutting me short. They're sweet, soft and tender, just as I remembered, and they make my stomach flutter everytime they come into contact with mine.
My mouth reflexively opens and lets him in as his tongue goes across my bottom lip. Before I let him win, we fight for dominance, the formerly frantic and desperate kiss slowing down to passionate pecks. Before he starts speaking again, he caresses his nose to the curve of my neck, bombarding it with kisses. "Amanda, please don't abandon me. I'm not sure I'll be able to take you rejecting me." He speaks in hushed tones, as if expressing his thoughts aloud seems physically painful.

His tongue swipes across my bottom lip, my mouth opening automatically and letting him in. We fight for dominance before I let him win, the once rushed and needy kiss slowing down to passionate pecks. Pulling away, he nuzzles his nose into the crook of my neck, peppering it with kisses before he finally speaks again.
"Please don't leave me, Amanda. I won't be able to handle you rejecting me." He whispers harshly, as if stating his thoughts aloud is physically hurting him.
"I wouldn't turn you down." When he draws away to look at me, I shake my head and look up at him shyly. "I was actually planning on telling you tomorrow that I've accepted you as my partner. That is, if you will have me."In between pecks, he grins and pushes his lips into mine with a passionate kiss, saying thank you's. But then he stopped and backs away, staring at me, perplexed. "When you say if I'll have you, what do you mean?" "Well, I'm a human, and members of Chris' pack have been discussing -"
"And you were taken in by their words." He finishes aggressively, which makes me squirm. "Trying to pretend I could not hear them hasn't always succeed; it had an effect on me." I shrug before begging him to pay attention. "Gabriel, you are deserving of better. I only want you to consider it and -" "I've already considered it. You are my Luna and Queen, as well as my mate. Do you hear what I'm saying? Nothing anyone says can change it." He insists, his hand on my chin, forcing me to focus entirely on him. He snarls angrily and pulls me up against him if I remain mute. "Are you following me, Amanda?" "Yes." I give a brief nod, sensing his relaxation.
A sigh escapes his lips as he leans his forehead against mine then closes his eyes. "My angel, you constitute everything I desire and more. Never question how much I care for you." I stared at him, certain that everything will work out. Isabella informed me that he had a difficult childhood that had moulded him into the cold, harsh guy he is, but with me, he seems to melt, which I adore. I don't think I'm the best for him, but I'll do everything I can to make this relationship work. "I'm not going to lie, this is terrifying for me." I took a hesitant breath and looked up at him.
"I see what you're saying." He murmurs, his eyes a little worried. "But remember, if you have any questions, all you have to do is ask. Amanda, I'll definitely chase your anxieties away." I give him a delicate kiss on the cheek, observing his green eyes brighten and his lips lift up into a little smile. I'm drawn back into his hug, and we sit for a bit, just taking it all in. I'd read books and I also questioned Linda more about the mate connection, and it's evident that it's had a negative impact on both of us.
