Chapter 72

"Are you coming along?" I smack Theo's hand away, glare at him when he attempts to grab some, and merely grin at him in response as I ask Kaden and shovel some fries into my mouth.
He dismissively shrugs." I've been there quite a bit, so I don't think so. "

"Come on, it'll be fun! And since you are familiar with the area, could you show us around? "
Before he sighs and says he'll come, he shakes his head, and I pout.

I squealed with delight as I put my arm over his shoulder and pulled him into an embrace. He pats my back as he laughs, and I smile broadly as I yank myself away. I hurry through my lunch since I know the bell for class will soon be ringing, so I leave the cafeteria with everyone else. Our history teacher, Mr. Alvaro, is already in the room when I enter, so I hastily find a seat.
He begins the lesson after everyone has calmed down, and it appears to go on forever. I consider Gabriel's reaction when I tell him about our trip tonight while I look out the window. The lecture is about to end, and Mr. Alvaro walks around his table to take a front-row position holding a stack of papers. "Okay class, as you're all aware, we go off to Rome on Friday." Unfortunately, it will be a three-day trip—"he stops speaking when he hears loud groans and puts his hand out to stop us.

"We'll make the best of it despite the principal's directives, which is disappointing. I'm giving everyone a list of items to bring and a brief description of what we'll be doing. Please remember this and be well-prepared. Class dismissed! The plane takes off at precisely seven o'clock."

When the bell sounds, everyone leaves the classroom and heads for their homes. Before saying goodbye, I have a brief conversation with my pals. I then take my books from my locker on the way out and wave to Linda and Kelvin as they leave the school grounds.
I am heading to Gabriel's apartment, which seems to be turning into a permanent residence given how things are going, after unlocking the door of my own vehicle and buckling myself in.

I heard him calling me in, so I knocked on the brown wooden door of his office and peered inside. Even though I'm terrified, I need to address him about the school trip since I've dragged my feet long enough. As soon as I got inside, I grabbed my lunch and hurried upstairs to lock myself in my bedroom, where I busied myself with my studies while avoiding him like the plague.
When I entered and closed the door, Gabriel glanced up. When I go back to the last time, I asked him to let me go, I try to control my blushing. Although it seems so long ago, I can still clearly recall the event. In order to evade his stare as I glance around his office, to which I have gotten used, I cough and fidget with the hem of my t-shirt. After a little while, I give in and turn to face him. His emerald eyes first briefly skimmed my body twice before burning so fiercely that I had to gasp.
"Come on in." When I get close enough, he pulls me forward while making hushed requests, waving me over. My nose brushes against his chest as he pulls me onto his lap, and I yell before gazing at him.
"Ouch."
In response, he merely kisses my nose before putting his warm lips on mine. Even though it was done quickly and firmly, I still find it wonderful. While he continues working, I toy with his fingers, measuring how big they are in comparison to mine before running my fingertips over the calluses and the pronounced veins. I kissed the back of his hand and joined them while listening to his approving grunt from above. He puts his arm around my waist and pulls me closer into his body as I sigh and rest against his chest. He has become incredibly protective of me since the event with Charlie and hasn't let me be alone by myself at any time when he isn't with me. He did this after seeing my nightly dreams of him becoming more frequent.
Because of his cousin's attack on me, Gabriel's vampire side has reawakened once more. As far as I'm concerned, the mood among the pack has changed to one of tension and caution. He gets irritated if I'm not close to him and will snarl at any man who even glances my way. When I finally succeed in calming his eyes to the lovely green, he wanders about with a physique that is perpetually tight.

Gabriel spoke with Charlie's pack elders and the sacred council to choose a punishment for Charlie. He was given a death sentence, and even though he is no longer with us, I still occasionally feel uneasy simply thinking about what occurred. In an effort to reduce the security and the pampering, I had fought with Gabriel, but he was unyielding. I will admit that it can be irritating at times, but I choose to ignore it because I know how angry he will become if I refused to let him take care of me.

I slowly begin, "Gabriel," while scribbling random designs on his gray shirt. "There will be a school excursion to Rome..."
"No." He asserts forcefully, never pausing or turning away from his computer.
"The consent paperwork has already been completed by Elizabeth and William, so I wasn't asking you, I was just going to inform you." I explain, shifting so that I am now straddling his waist, preventing him from writing so that he can focus entirely on me.
"Everyone else is going; it's only for three days."
"I firmly refuse, Amanda, and that's it."
He grunts and presses his hands firmly on my waist as his eyes get enraged.
"You're still getting well after the attack," I said.
"You must remain at home, where I can watch over you and provide for you."
"I'm recuperating rapidly, according to the doctor! "Crossing my arms, I declared "
“No, you won't, I assure you. “
"Yes. I yelled, clearly pronouncing each syllable while staring at him with narrowed eyes, "I am.”
