Chapter 29
After a brief moment of silence, I lean back in my leather chair also clasp my hands together. "Despite the fact that you only had one sister, your family asserted guardianship of Amanda." I watch as Chris nods and both son Dave and his father . "I'm guessing you're here to discuss Amanda?" When he pauses for a few moments to collect his thoughts, I wait for him to continue while William walks across to stand behind him.
"Amanda Thomas's parents and ours had been friends for years before her parents died in an accident not long ago. Nina and I had invariably treated her as if she were our sister, and we were extremely close." His fingers clench the edge of the mahogany table as he takes a shuddering breath. "Amanda was present that night Nina was assassinated by thugs." I take a deep breath and tighten my grip on the armrests. My poor baby was witness to a murder, and her parents died not long after. What the hell is going on with her that she's holding it up so well? I would never have known if Chris hadn't told me since she hides her sadness so well. Knowing how a person can be torn apart by death, I am in awe of her strength.
"Amanda and I were there for each other, to cut a long tale short. Our friendship was reinforced by her death. As a result, I'm more protective of Amanda. I'll be dammed if I can't protect her if I cannot save my true sister. She's always been as a second sister to me."
I pause for a long time, my gaze fixed on the paperweight on his desk. During Nina Valentine's funeral, I recollect seeing a younger female standing beside Chris. For some reason, she had fully captivated me. Now I understand why. "She's mine," the narrator declares.
"Everyone is aware of Elizabeth's situation." Chris laughs without a sense of humour. "And you think I'm going to give you over to my sister? What if the same thing happened to her as well?"
I snarl harshly, the pendant under my shirt pulsating hot and fast. My blood boils and rushes, yearning for violence and the Alpha's blood to be spilt. What right does he have to say that?
"Assassinate him!" In my brain, my animals growl.
I lunge forward and grab him even by shirt collar, bringing us face to face. "You see why I treated Elizabeth the way I did. " Is your sister similar to her?"
"No!" He stands up and pulls my hand from his shirt. "Amanda is innocent and pure, and she was not created for a beast like you! You haven't earned her!"
"However, the Moon Goddess has a different opinion, doesn't she?" I adjusted my suit, a wicked grin on my face as I looked up at him. "Only if you want to walk up and ask her yourself? I might be able to assist you."
With a frown imprinted on his face, William observes. "Once she realizes who you are, she won't even accept you as quickly, if at all.
"I'm hoping you're familiar with that young man."
"Believe me, I've given it some thought. But she is mine, but I want her to remain with me. "Not at her place, where she's at risk." When they protest, I raise my hand to hush them. "I've received news from the vampires that they want me to rule over them once again, but I've declined." "Do you believe Amanda's brother or her own partner, who has firsthand experience with vampires, will be better at protecting her?"
As Chris sighs and resigns from his chair, I can feel their disappointment. I think of my tiny kitty waiting for me on my bed when I get home, and I smile inside.
When my thoughts of her start entering my mind again, I groan lowly, every atom of my being yearning for her. What is she up to with me? "All right, she'll accompany you." William nods, jolting me out from my lustful reverie. "What?! No! I can safeguard her here; she will not really require his assistance." Chris screams his displeasure. "Son." Once their eyes glaze over, William warns, and they both clearly talk in the mind link. Chris finally gives in after a few minutes. He nods at me, but when I stand up to leave, he extends his hand. "If she's staying there, I don't want calls from you on her pranking and such. She is now your responsibility." With a recognizing glint in his eyes, he smirks.
"What do you actually imply by pranking?" I growl, wishing I could use my fist to wipe the grin off his face. "Amanda is drawn to trouble in the same way that she is to food. Don't give her excessive sugar because she's a troll." She flies like a kite and reaches incredible heights." Before standing, they both smile at me. "Good luck, Silva. "When it comes to my sister, the Moon Goddess knows you'll need it." I roll my eyes as I walk out from the office, stalking across their pack house and paying no attention towards the females who, as they always do, look at me with infatuation and awe. My mate is the only thing on which I'm focused. I scoff, "Good Luck." My friend, based on what I have seen of her, She's just a feisty little brat. I'm not afraid of her. I get into the car, scowling as I see numerous missed calls from Ryan and a few of the guards I've placed on Amanda as well as my siblings when I turn on my phone. I return the call to Ryan and wait for him to answer while backing out from the Valentine's garage and onto the street before speeding away. I'm getting a strange feeling inside of me, and I do not like it, particularly since I suspect it has something to do with my mate.
"Gabriel! Amanda is no longer with us. Paloma and Valeria, as well as his car, are also missing." He pants, causing me to growl angrily and speed up. When it relates to Amanda Thomas, I clearly need every luck I can get.
