Chapter 12
Aurora
My hands were shaking and my pulse pounding. My skin felt hot and achy as if my body was going into an early heat. But that wasn’t right. When my designation came in, I immediately went to the doctor. They had told me there was no way my body would go into a natural heat. I would only be able to have medically induced heats unless I met my scent matched mates. Knowing how rare that is, I knew I would never go into one. But this felt like one. My core ached for relief, but I refused to believe this was happening.
Could Lucian have been right? Could the three men who ruined my life, who ruined my entire family really be my scent matched mates? There is no way fate would be that cruel.
I shook my head. Of course fate would be that cruel look at what fate had already done to me in the past. All I have wanted for years is to get revenge on the family and secret society that had destroyed my family. And now fate was going to be a bitch and say, nope you will not want to do that because the three boys, and yes I’ll even admit they was just boys when they did what they did, are my fated mates.
Could I truly walk away from years of wanting revenge just to be with my fated mates. Was Fate strong enough to take away all the pain and anger I had.
I looked at my phone as a message came through from Nash’s number.
“It’s been done, Aurora.”
I dropped my phone, and my heart started racing, my eyes wide in fear. There was no way. They couldn’t know it was me. I had faked my death. No there…
A knock on the front door tore me away from my panic attack and I rushed over to the door, peeking through the hole to see three large alphas standing outside my door. I covered my mouth as a squeak threatened to escape. This can’t be happening. Kason was playing in the next room; I don’t have my breasts bound and I don’t have my wig on. I can’t let them see me like this.
“We know you are there, Aurora.” Knights voice came through the door, “we can smell you.”
“We know you aren’t a male. We know who you really are.” Lucian said, his voice sounded closer than Knight’s as if he was leaning against the door trying to get as close as possible.
“You have every right to hate us baby but give us a chance to prove we are on your side. That we are your mates and that we can protect you.” Nash’s voice came last.
My heart lurches as if wanting to come out of my chest and into their hands. Is this what it feels like to be near your fated mate? This all-consuming feeling that nothing can stop true love from conquering all evil.
I nod my head and make the decision. I slowly open the door and lean against the door frame.
“I guess coming back from the dead wasn’t a good choice on my part after all.”
“Fuck,” Nash whispered. “It’s really you.” His eyes took me in from my pitch-black hair to my sockless toenails currently painted blue.
“Damn, you are beautiful.” Knight said as he took me in.
“Thank fuck, You are safe. I was terrified I had hurt you.” Lucian said stepping toward me.
I took a step back. “Don’t come closer.” I say softly holding my hand out.
“Mommy!” I close my eyes and tilt my head back. Here come’s my biggest secret of all. Kason, their little brother.
Lucian
My whole body froze.
“Mommy?” There was no way. She was younger than us…it couldn’t be. I looked down as the boy came up behind Aurora and hugged her leg. It was already a shock to see that Montgomery was really Aurora but now…I felt like I had punched in the gut. This couldn’t be anyone but a Wolfe.
“Kara’s baby?” Knight whispered his eyes locked on the boy.
I looked up and watched as tears fell from Aurora’s shocking green eyes. She nodded. Her mouth closed; I watched as she swallowed hard. As if she couldn’t force the words out.
“I think we need to come in.” Nash said looking around.
Aurora nodded and opened the door wider.
“Mommy can I have an ice cream?” The little boy asked.
“Yes, baby go ask Lexi to get you one.”
“Yay!” he ran off deeper into the house as Nash closed the door behind all of us. Aurora just nodded then turned her back on us and started walking away. We looked at each other than back at her before following close behind her. Her scent was everywhere in this house. I could feel my alpha under the surface, dying to claim his mate.
We came into what had to be a den with a large grey sectional with a huge television over an gas fireplace. I looked around and found pictures of the little boy with Aurora all over the room. I walked over to the first ones and saw her holding him in the hospital as a small baby. This was right after what I had done to them. I could feel tears coming to my eyes. I know my father had always said real alpha’s don’t shed tears. But how could I not. I had lost time with my brother. I had killed two people just to satisfy a secret society that I never really wanted to be in in the first place.
“That’s Kason and I when I first woke up from the coma 16 days after he was born.” Aurora nodded at the picture I was looking at.
“What happened?” Knight asked, taking a seat, his hands between his thighs as he looked at her.
“Dad, Kara, and Kason’s twin died that day.”
“No.” I whispered to myself, so I had killed three that day. There could be no way she’d ever forgive me. And now I don’t think I can forgive myself.
She looked over at me then looked away.
“I woke up 16 days later. Found out everyone was gone except for me and Kason.” She sniffled and scratched the side of her nose. “Dad had contingency’s in place, you know. In case something was to ever happen to him. Kara and I had identities ready so we could hide from Gravin’s. We had the ability to get all the money without anyone finding it and we was to hide.”
She twisted her hair with her fingers lost in the memories. Her sweet scent is souring.
“I took my housekeeper and groundskeeper, had them sell the old house, pull all the funds and hide it in an account under my new identity. I got Kason’s birth certificate and had my name put down as his mom. Legally he is mine. No one else’s.”
“We wouldn’t never take him from you.” Nash said leaning toward her like he was about to reach for her hand.
“But I didn’t know that.” She said. “I have spent years plotting my revenge against you, and suddenly you’re claiming I’m your scented mate. That you want me and love me because fate has deemed it so. And I feel guilty for wanting it. For wanting all of you when I should hate you right? I should hate you for what happened.”
