Chapter 36

Aurora

I woke up slowly, both of my upper arms throbbing in time to the pain I could feel. I opened my eyes and looked around, my breath releasing as I found Lucian sitting next to my bed holding my hand. He looked exhausted. I felt through the bond that the other guys were sleeping as well, but I sent love through the bond anyways.
Lucian lifted his head and looked up at me. His eyes filled with sadness.
“Fuck, Thank God you are awake,” He said standing up and leaning over me to kiss my forehead. “I’m so sorry Aurora.”
I furrowed my brow, “For what?” I ask.
He brings a straw to my lips encouraging me to drink.
“It’s my fault, I should have been paying attention…”
I pull back from my drink and say, “are you fucking kidding me right now?! We was at our home, on our private property and some assholes came up there and did this, not you. We should have been safe to do whatever the hell we wanted in a safe place. That is not on you, that is on them, and if I ever hear you blame yourself for what they did I will smack your ass like you do mine. Do I make myself clear.”
He smirked and nodded, “Yes ma’am. But the only one who gets their butt spanked in this relationship is you.”
“Well, stop being stupid, and I won’t threaten it again. Or since you don’t want spanked, I’ll deny you access to my mouth.”
He leaned over me and caged me in causing my Omega to whine and tilt my head to the side.
“Baby, you could never deny me, so don’t even try.”
“Rude.” I said, “What happened anyways?”
“Well they got you in both arms luckily missing your bones and it was a quick surgery.”
“The baby?” I rush.
“Baby is fine, They are keeping you for a few more days, to make sure no infections set up and said that you should be healed up within six to eight weeks depending on your body.
I nod and look around, “Where’s the guys and Kason?”
“The guys are checking on Kason now, we didn’t want him to see you like this, so he’s been spending time with Lena, who sent word via Nash about an hour ago that she is sending you a care package for while you are in here. Said there’s soap, shampoo, conditioner, a hairbrush and comfortable pajama’s for you to wear. So once it gets here Nash and I will help you take a shower, the nurses showed us how to prepare your bandages to keep them from getting wet.”
I smile, “She is a God send for sure. I hate being in the hospital especially if I can’t bathe. My hair is so long it ends up looking like a rats nest if I can’t wash it and brush it out.”
He grinned and kissed my forehead before sitting back down and hitting the button to call the nurse.
“I’m calling them to let them know you are awake and need pain meds. You can’t keep hiding the wince every time you move baby girl.”
I pout, “I just want to stay awake. I hate not knowing what is going on around me.”
“Put that lip away it isn’t going to stop me from making sure you don’t hurt. They are giving you something that won’t harm the baby. And thanks to a generous donation from us to build a new children’s ward your stay here is completely anonymous.”
I rolled my eyes then smiled at the nurse her walked in, “Oh good, Miss Aurora, So good to see you awake. Let me take your vitals really quick.”
I watched Lucian as the nurse did what she needed to do. He typed out a quick message and smiled at me.
“Can Aurora have something solid to eat now, or do we need to wait and get her soup?” he asks as she finishes taking my temperature.
“Oh the doctor didn’t put any limits so feel free to get her anything solid that she wants. It would be good for her and the little one.” She smiles at me.
“Your men have caused quite the stir in the hospital since you arrived. They have made all of us go home and want to beat our mates for not showing us half the attention your mates have been showing you. You are a very lucky young woman.”
I smiled, “You have no idea.”
“Now, do you want anything for pain? We are doing lower doses since you are pregnant and we don’t want to harm the little one, so it’s up to you.”
I think for a moment, assessing my body for the pain, “I think I’m okay for now. While it hurts its not so painful that anything stronger than ibuprofen wouldn’t cut the pain out.”
She nods as she notes that on the computer next to the bed, “Do you need to use the bathroom or anything like that? We can come help you shower in a few hours if you’d like.”
Lucian speaks up at that, “We’ve got her covered on that end.” He winks. “We have a care package coming that will help her feel more at ease while she’s here.”
The nurse touches her chest and beams at him, “So lucky.” She says as walks out the door.
I roll my eyes and look over at him, “Shameless.”
He grins, “Nah baby, just know that we want to give you the fucking world.”
I nod and grin when he says, “I’ve ordered you the chicken parm to be delivered in the next thirty minutes, then Nash and Knight will be back to help get you showered and changed into something more comfortable.
I nod and look around the room, “This is a fancy room, it looks more like a hotel then a hospital.”
He smiles, “Yeah we upgraded you to a private room, we were worried that someone would try to break in and hurt you again, and I don’t think my heart could take it if you were hurt again on my watch.”
“Lucian, it wasn’t your fault.” I say, grabbing his hand.
“I know that, I do, but I keep seeing you lying on the ground bleeding and not being able to stop it.”
“You saved me,” I say pushing my hand through my hair and wincing at the pull of the stitches.
“No baby, you saved me. Because if you hadn’t survived, I would have done whatever it took to make sure I made it to your side.”
