CHAPTER 27
The lovers’ bedroom had wide windows through which the set sun cast long shadows across the room. Sink to her bones, and eyes staring at the dwindling light outside the glass pane, Amelia stood like an iron bar by the window. Grimacing, Bruce watched her from the other side of the room and his look made him appear concerned.
Only after several minutes of the silence broken, Amelia said, ”I don’t trust her, Bruce. “ “I can’t shake the feeling that Ema is up to something at the sudden change of her behavior. ”
Bruce sighed and ran his fingers through his thick hair full of gel. Given that Ema had decided to let Amelia stay with the pack after her contract’s expiration, he had waited and prepared for this moment. Why are we harping on this Amelia? We have grown and moved on. ” Thus, Ema has chosen what path to take. Did we not want that?
Amelia looked back at him her eyes shining with the ethereal light of her half celestial form. Her voice looked very solemn as she said, ‘What we wanted and what we get, can be two vastly different things. "Bruce, just think about this’. For the last few months, Ema has been waiting for any reason to force me to leave. These two aspects of her personality have always been manifested; she does not trust anyone, and she does not want anyone to control her. And all of a sudden she is committed? It is quite confusing, It does not seem to be adding up."
Bruce got up and crossed the room to stand behind Amelia, where he gently lay his hands on her shoulders. He commented, “Or perhaps it does. ” “Then realizing the truth about you and the struggles we are going through has provided her with a sense of purpose. A war to fight."
With her palms spread out on the table and her elbows leaning forward, Amelia stared at the floor and shook her head, then she said in frustration. “Don't you think that it is convenient?” it is all so orchestrated after learning that I am a hybrid and threatening to blow our identity, she changes her mind and wants to join the squad.
Bruce softly reminded her, “You are the one who wanted to tell her everything. “ “You said that we have to be united and build trust.
Amelia realized what she had said and replied, “I know what I said” but her tone was not as sharp this time. ‘Sorry, but I just cannot get the notion out of my head that we are going to make a mistake. ’
Bruce felt her stiff before her and embraced her tightly. Oh, I do see where you are coming from, really I do. Still, Amelia, we have to take the Bus to stay open for the good in people. . to permit them the raw chance to take a shot at surprising us. "
Clinging to him, Amelia felt comfort from him whom she had always relied on. "And if we're wrong? Should Ema be protesting to be something she is not?
Bruce was still defensive, then with an emphasis he said, “Then, if and when that happens, then we will deal with that. ” “But for now, we have to prepare ourselves for what is coming. ” whether we like it or not, Ema was fighting with us in your visions, and every help counts. ”
Amelia pulled back slightly so that she was able to look Bruce in the eyes. Of course, you know that my visions are not free from flaws They depict opportunities rather than guarantees.
Bruce merely inclined his head then and the barest hint of a smile grazes his lips. Indeed. But they have never misled us in the past and that I believe is why we are still here today. I decided to trust in Ema, our Pack, and the visions that you have received by now. "
It took a fairly long time for Amelia not to say anything, the conflict written all over her face. Minov finally let out a long breath. “Alright,”, she yielded. “I’ll try to have some latitude But Bruce, would you try to be careful? Look out for yourself. ”
Bruce placed a call on her forehead and said soothingly ‘Always’ ‘as we have always done we will overcome this too. ’
Bruce and Amelia, quickly, flanked one another, and in the twilight, they seemed to be nearly one person. Despite these challenges, they could gather strength from each other, at that exact moment to present a united front against any incoming storm.
---
That night when Amelia was in bed, Bruce decided to take a stroll for a round. The Packhouse was almost as quiet at night as it was in the day. His destination was a door of a small, rather inconspicuous office located far in the corner of the floor. He only rapped once on the door then walked in as is the tradition for any room in Sudan.
“Elijah,”, now a Major, and his Beta and closest ally, looked up from the papers scattered on his desk. Sometimes, issuing the stare was enough to convey everything Bruce wanted him to and was any more than sufficient to get the message through. “So, it’s time then?” Elijah asked leaning back on the chair with its four feet off the ground.
Bruce agreed, and entered the plane, shutting the door, and sitting across from Elijah. I said calmly ‘It’s high time, you have to know all that has happened. ’
Elijah listened for the next hour and Bruce explained that Ema found out about Amelia being a hybrid, the altercation between her and Amelia about the coming war, and more importantly, Ema decided to remain with the Pack. Elijah listened carefully and as the hours passed by, the look on his face was becoming more solemn.
Finally, Bruce closed the book and Elijah whistled, low and long. ”That’s,” he paused for a moment to gather his thoughts, “a lot to take in,” he added his voice notably devoid of enthusiasm. “You are positive about this I assume About allowing Ema access to all of this information. ”
Bruce softened his posture and placed his hands onto his knees, palm down, with fingers slightly spread apart. A low growl comes from the man as he clenches his fists at his sides, “But is it the right thing to do, Yeah?” “Yes, Elijah, yes I think it is… Amelia’s visions have shown that we do. ”
Elijah's brow furrowed. ”I beg your pardon, Alpha, visions can be mistaken And Ema. . . her relationship with the Pack has been mostly strained since she got to know of Amelia being Luna.
He opened his eyes to look straight into Bruce’s face questioningly, “What do you mean?” The tone of his voice sounded just a tinge wary
