CHAPTER 40

Ema brought her eyes to focus on his and when he asked if he should stop she shook her head in agreement. She countered, “Only this way can the pack be reunited. ” “To show it to them of your commitment to the pack’s future and our ways…” we shall fix all the damages Amelia has done, with me as the Luna, we can strengthen the pack again.

The next silence seemed to linger and it felt like it would take an eternity for the next sound to be made. Thus, as the two of them stared at each other, waiting for the Alpha to pronounce his verdict, Ema quivered in anticipation of Bruce’s response. Everything she worked for and the strategies that she and Caroline set out required this particular juncture.

Bruce had been silent for quite a while and then he spoke, at least this is how it seemed to me. His voice was composed and steady which did not reflect the slightest hint of the anxiety Ema knew he had to be going through. I pointed her and said gently, Ema, I know that you have been thinking about this for quite some time.

She simply nodded her head because she was not sure if she would be able to utter a single word.

Bruce pulls himself up–as in, he gets up slowly–then he looks out at the pack and lands through the window, which lies in front of him. Our people have been following me for a long time, he said to himself. ‘Believed that I would lead them and shield them as well as make the hard choices when appropriate. ’

Not sure about the nature of his anger, he twitted and came back to face Ema. It seems that you are now turning to me to make what may be the harshest decision among those that you have presented. Just give up my partner and the future we had dreams and plans of, just to succumb to tradition. Purity. The traditional methods. "

Ema wondered if this was the right time to stand up. This time, the conclusion of the phrase was for the benefit of the pack,. To everyone here We are your family even though you have Amelia as your wife This is your responsibility This is your legacy.

Ema tried not to squirm when Bruce fixed his gaze on her, which was a very dangerous look on him. None of them could muster a sound for what felt like a long time and the silence in the room could have been carved.

She then felt Bruce agree, though not willingly, as if his head moved up and down by the force of some persuasion though the movement was slow, almost infinitesimal. When Ema heard the soft words: “You are right,” in her heart she felt the desire for him increase. It is easy to imagine Bowden’s reaction: Such a pack cannot be allowed to exist – it is an unwritten law that the pack must come first. Always.

He circled the desk to come face-to-face with Ema. ‘I’m ready to move to the next level,’ he told and the emphasis of his tone was making her nervous. ‘But what if I do this, if I send Amelia away and take you as my Luna?’ he asked me rather roughly. You do not know how tough it can be to be the boss of you all sometimes, Ema. It demands sacrifice, commitment, and loyalty to our population and culture. Scolded “Are you prepared for that?”

There she was standing tall then she raised her chin to indicate she wouldn’t be subdued. "Alpha, I’ve been waiting for this my whole existence,” cried the woman. “This is my destiny To any extent, I will protect our pack and lead it to a prosperous and ethical way of life. ”

Well, Bruce said finally, after regarding her for a time with a searching scrutiny that seemed to seek for some sign of contrary intent, or even wavering faith, in the candor of her eyes. Since he could not find any, he positively nodded once. "Excellent," he remarked. “Yes, I agree to your conditions. ”

At that effect, elation surged through Ema’s system. She had done it. One thing that she had planned for weeks, deceived others and had secret planning and plotting, she had achieved it. She would be Luna, and together with Bruce, they would change the pack into the stronger, pure, and savage pack that it was meant to be.

“I am happy to hear about that,” she replied trying her best to keep the eagerness out of her voice. "You will find that you made the right decision by opting for this choice. With your help, it will be the best pack that has ever been, I promise you that."

Bruce's expression remained solemn. I kept quiet and thought to myself, I just hope that you are right, Ema for the benefit of all of us. Shrugging his shoulders from the decision that he had made he went back to his desk. “I will ask Amelia right now At this I need to get ready for the pack meeting Get ready to have it announced there?”

On this Ema’s reaction was, “Hmm!, as she nodded passionately. ” “Yes, Alpha. The pack must know that their Alpha has chosen a side and is ready to protect them and their traditions and future. ”

Bruce chimed in, barely, but still loud enough for Ema to hear him say “Yes”. He then repeated himself saying “Ema, you will be sent on exile. I Am looking forward to having you in the meeting"

Ema couldn’t help the satisfied grin that crossed her lips as she carefully shut the office door with a click behind her. She had done it. While fooling Amelia she had managed to get Bruce onside to do as she wanted it. She would become the Luna soon and all her dream of being powerful and famous would be achieved.

She had a lot on her mind and was in constant planning mode as she moved through the hallways of the pack house. Earlier there were numerous things to be done before the meeting and lots of gears to organize. Though, for the time being, she had to allow herself to bask in her triumph or victory, whatever it was.

Bruce was still inside his room, rooted to the floor just staring at the door that Ema left ajar. Slowly, the look of accepting what had happened, that he had kept on his face during their conversation slipped away and was replaced with calm anger.

He reached for his cellular phone and dialed a number that he had at his fingertips. It rang twice, and the calm voice of the woman I was expecting to speak to picked up the phone. “It is done”, Bruce murmured. She bit it. "I must talk to you," he said, before they could Go ahead as planned.

Bruce put the phone down and returned to look outside, the vast piece of the pack lands was visible to him. The nation of people which, over the years, he had dedicated his life to attend to as the leader the soil on which he pledged to spill his blood to defend. All these noble structures were threatened today by the conspiracies of several unprincipled persons.

However, the spirit of Bruce was not one to turn a blind side to a challenge. He had faced both the internal as well as external threats that are inherent to the leadership of any pack. And every time, he had come out stronger, his pack together, and his leadership affirmed in the process.

This time would be no different, It was his people; she had no rights to make a deal and form a joint force. Ema and her accomplices had therefore mistaken him, and in their folly thought that they could change him, and make him dump his mate, his partner of preference. They would very soon begin to regret what they have done.
