CHAPTER 30

Ema felt the shooting pains in her shoulder where the heart was bitten as the fighting fury slowly began to subside. She can change her form back and looked a human with disgust on her face while checking on the cut.

Amelia’s voice disturbed her thoughts at the back; she turned to hear her say, “Here, let me look at that.

Ema glanced at the right time to see the hybrid coming; her injuries were finally healing due to her unique body structure. Fury chased by anxiety was supplanted with a hitherto concern or perhaps some respect in Amelia’s eyes.

Bruce arrived as soon as Amelia began cleaning and putting a bandage on the wound of Ema. He had also reverted to his human form although one could see through the marks on his body that he had fought fiercely with Alpha.

He cleared his throat and replied in a rough-sounding but clear tone “Report. ”

Amelia looked up from her work. There have been losses, but there is a way to cope with them Launched the invaders.

Bruce nodded and looked at the scenes of the battle all around him. Establish the search teams. Adhering the idea, that they are indeed gone and do not regroup to advance another attack is the first desire. Set up the injured to be taken to the medical center.

Bruce looked at Ema as the members of the Pack chased after him doing whatever they knew to do following his orders. The eyes were restless and sSehnsuchtas if he was seeing her for the first time.

In an almost inaudible voice, he replied, “You saved the life of Amelia. ”

Looking straight into his eyes Ema said, "Therefore, I did the right thing any Pack member would do in similar circumstances of suffering. "

Bruce almost smiled and his face was red, but only momentarily did he quickly make it back to a neutral expression. ”Perhaps,” replied Bruce as the rest of the Pack snarled and looked his way, each member not having such a difficult relationship with us recently.

Forcing herself to sit up a little straighter Ema noted that a faint line formed between her eyebrows. Was her performance too bold? Had she revealed too much in her gesture, the way one who has something to hide would? Bruce continued before she could open her mouth to make an answer.

He spoke in a low tone and with so much sincerity, “I’m sorry Ema, I have let you down, I have doubted your loyalty but tonight I realize I was wrong. ”

Once Amelia finished wrapping Ema’s shoulder, she also stood up and joined Bruce on the other side. She went on, “We both have you to thank. ” “You would have been in for a licking before now if I had not interfered. ”

Ema had to force down the bile that was steadily rising in her throat. The genuineness felt in their tones made her assignment seem like a colossal chore. By some manner, she was able to murmur “I only did what I had to do. ”

Bruce gave a headshake. I was impressed; you went the extra mile. These probably would not have been possible If not for the fact that you put your life on the line for the Pack and Amelia. Oh, that is something I will never forget.

He came closer and took her untouched shoulder to hold. “Ema, I’d like you to understand that moreover, I am willing to give you my blind trust in the future reigning over this Pack, fighting for Amelia’s life and mine own. ”

Ema felt the very rug being pulled out from under her. Bruce talked a lot and the faith and trust she saw in his eyes was like a punch to the body. Everything she had planned in detail, every lie she told and every half-truth in that exact moment felt disgusting in her mouth.

She began, “Bruce, I. . .” not knowing what she was going to tell him at all.

Still, Bruce gently grabbed her by the shoulder and shook lightly while interrupting her speech.

"Here, there is no need for you to speak. Tonight you are acting and your actions are telling a story louder than words ever could. Now go relax. We should however wait until every one of us has regained some strength and then we should sit down and deliberate on this."

Bruce and Amelia departed to help in mobilizing the Pack’s recovery, thus being alone after the battle, Ema was left alone.

Would the love she had for them transform into hate and would she be forced to sit on the side of the fence she never desired to be in? Ema felt as though she was being split right down the middle she had never experienced that before as she watched them leave. Her objective, her promise to Caroline, was to look for the loophole that would allow her to prevent it, to guard herself and potentially the Pack from whatever Bruce and Amelia were hiding. The other was this undeniable feeling she had that night when she was fighting with the Pack and Amelia. This was a burden and at the same time Bruce’s very first gesture of trust to her and she felt the weight of it squarely in her heart.

Looking in the direction of the woods, Ema could see that the attackers were no longer around. This danger they had experienced this evening was real. Every game she was playing, every secret she ever tried to solve was not real when compared to the actual danger of this world for the Pack.

Ema rode back to the Packhouse when the first sign of a new day was beginning to break on the horizon. She had a headache, her shoulder and all her body ached and inside her head, there was a conflict of thoughts and passions.

It dawned on her that she had to make a choice. Or should she continue to live a lie and lose something she achieved in the last few months? Or the risk of becoming a loyal member of the Pack and accepting the rules without questioning would be the only choice?

As she moves through towards her bedroom, Ema gets a revelation of who she is when she glances at the mirror. She was a fighter; her face was smeared with blood and dirt, and the fight’s energizing stage gave her much to worry about. About However, there was also something else there: Thus, Ema found confidence and a feeling of acceptance which she didn’t have for some time.

‘What have you gotten yourself into, Ema?” She whispered to the reflection looking back at her in the bathroom mirror.

She also knew that nothing would be as easy as that and that she would have to work hard to find the solution. However, Ema realized one thing for sure as she fell onto her bed, finally giving in to exhaustion: This could have meant that life would never be the same, meaning nothing utterable by this show would ever be the same.

While the battle was done, the war was just beginning; or in Amelia’s words, the war she anticipated as well as the war going on in the depths of Ema’s heart. The last thing Ema remembered before drifting off to sleep was the utterance – to the best of her knowledge – of her wish to dream… and to whomever or whatever was listening, the desire to be provided strength and guidance to know that they were to take the correct decision at the right time. But now she had accomplished a big thing in a small amount of time, she had to wait for the right time to tell Caroline this.
