CHAPTER 73

Two days later, everyone had an incredible tale to tell. Both were incredibly crowded; the cacophony of the city was alive as Ema and her rogues moved through the streets of Seattle, because everyone was searching for a group, individually they were able to find their way into the city of Seattle.

The smell of coffee and rain dominated, quite contrary to the dust of the roads and the wild forests they left behind to get to this urban savannah. Ema’s gaze moved from one face to the other.

Until now, they had successfully camouflaged themselves among the local population but she understood that they couldn’t pull off this forever.

“There it is,” Lucas whispered pointing at a small store with a colonial look across the road.

Ema felt her breath stop in her throat as she saw the sign of the bookshop in which their target – was now employed. The windows had books displayed in sealed transparent cases and a hand-painted poster read: Come in and get lost in a good story The shop was so entirely Amelia taking control of almost all the activities that Ema felt guilty for what was planned next.

“Remember the plan,” she whispered but firmly. ‘In we go, we take Amelia, and out before people even know that something is wrong; no squabbling is needed. ’

They answered, their lips set in determined lines; their eyes, however, were worried. They had survived where so many had perished to achieve the dream. Failure wasn't an option.

”Mara, get the lookout, Astor, you’ll take care of the inside, you and I will scope it out Dex, Lucas, have the getaway car ready. ” Ema took the position of the boss like a fish takes water.

Taking a quick deep breath she crossed the first pedestrian strip, feeling as if her heart was in her throat. The overhead bell rang merrily as entering the store, the smell of dust and the aged spots of the literature entailed the interior. For a moment, she was back in the palace library, she and Amelia laughing into the night as they read their books.

Fortunately, there was no customer at the shop and there was an old man leisurely looking at the books under ‘history’. Astor approached nonchalantly and decided to talk about certain autobiographies of ex-servicemen from the Second World War. Placing the coffee on a table, Ema looked around the shop and her gaze was drawn to a door labeled ‘Employees Access Only’ at the rear of the store.

“Can I help you find anything?” a familiar voice echoed and that made Ema’s heart flutter.

Following Astor was Amelia who came in pulling new books in her hands. She appeared more austere – her hair was bobbed, dyed in rather light shades, and she had on glasses that appeared thick-rimmed
and new to Ema. But she had the same smile, the one that was warm, happy and delighted clear up to the eyes.
appealed to her in the first place.

Now she felt a moral pang of unhappy regret. When they had finally split up it was done in a strained manner, and their sense of duty to the cause was served as the destructive wedge. Ema knew that under normal circumstances she would have continued being good friends with Amelia, but this was far from being Normal.

For a second, Amelia looked like she was simply amused by his company. Then she looked at Ema, and simply nodded her head recognizing her. It was the tone of the distressed woman who found herself unable to hold all of them as the books fell on the ground with numerous flops.

“Ema?” Amelia whispered standing in front of him, clearly in shock. ‘What are you – how did you –’

‘We are slow on time,’ Ema interrupted her, marching ahead. “It’s time you left this place,” the words were taken from Astor, but I know where they came from.

The girl was confused and afraid at the same time. ‘What? No way…. I can’t go. I have a life here. I’m safe here and what the hell are doing here? Amelia shouted, you better leave before I forcefully through you away"

Standing close to Ema, Astor kept a rigid look on her already tense face. ‘We will tell you all this later,’ said Ema, and grabbing her hand, he led her to the car ‘Please, Amelia. ’

Amelia took a step back, and her frightened eyes flew from one to the other of them. ‘No, it’s not. You should not be here."

"More people know you are here already, Werewolves, Vampires, Rogues and Even Hybrids. Amelia, you are not safe here"

There was no chance to further a conversation as the sound of the bell above the door interrupted Amelia. Ema turned around abruptly her hand grabbed the handle of the pistol that was hidden under the robe she wore.

Three men entered the bookstore, their bodies language threatening, with their fists clenched up tightly. Ema's blood ran cold as she recognized them:

A man named Max who seemed to be good at strategizing; a big, Jake and a woman she did not know her name but knew her as one of the loyal pack of Bruce.

‘Get away from her,’ the boy called Max snapped venomously, his eyes red with barely controlled fury.

Astor, who has been engaged with an old man, stopped the conversation and started hovering around Ema. The old man saw the fear in them and without any word left the shop.

“Nothing like that,” Ema said nervously “We’re not here to stir up any trouble. ” That’s quite true, it’s simply astonishing people by announcing ‘We’re just taking Amelia home’.

Jake sighed in what was almost a laugh. “Home you say? To return to the people who are going to take advantage of her to regain power?” No way!” Besides you are missing in our dungeon Ema" said Bruce

The mysterious woman came further in, she locked eyes with Amelia and began to speak to her. ‘Are you okay? Did they abuse you’

Amelia looked and shook her head, ‘I don’t know where to begin with this. ’ “I’m alright, Lydia,” said Amelia with a smile, though her voice had an edge to it; “It was the last thing I expected. ”

Ema’s thoughts went on a spin, and she could not comprehend the scenario that was happening before her. How had Elijah’s people known that there were such individuals around them? But why they were so cautious and defensive about Amelia all the time?

‘I think there has been a misunderstanding’, Ema essayed to explain, waving her hands to indicate that there was no harm intended. " we are friends of Amelia, we hear that she needs our assistance here. ”

‘Friends do not kidnap friends!’ snapped Max. “We have all the information about your small group, Ema,” Jake said coldly ill-mannered terms to call her friends The rogues, the outlaws earning their wealth as hired killers, What did they offer you to bring back Amelia? Money, power?”

Ema was very much annoyed when she heard the words of the man. ‘You know, you know nothing about us or why we are here… Amelia is in great danger and we are trying to protect her’.

The look in the center of his eyes was murderous and Max stepped closer to the other man. Amelia will not go anywhere with you because she is under protection. That is the order of Bruce and Elijah.

The name of Elijah was mentioned again and the effect it had on Ema was the same, electrical shock through her system. That’s a fat lie ‘You mean Elijah! Where is he? Why isn’t he here himself?’
