CHAPTER 45

Amelia was gradually coming back to awareness with the help of Elijah– it is as if the consciousness was gradually getting back to the body as the tide to the shore. Pain was the first which she became aware of; it was a deep, pulsating pain, as though it was stretching from head to toe. Then the sensations began to hit her: The sound could be heard to be that of a beeping which she came to conclusion to be medical devices, the feel of the bedsheets, she was on, and a hospital-like smell.

It was difficult for Amelia to pull her eyes open and she had to rub them against the dim light in the room. She slowly blinked her eyes and saw herself standing in a tiny room with She did not have much furniture in it. By the sides of the bed, there were life monitors that looked like security guards formed of light in the dark.

Amelia felt something and acknowledged the stiffness at the back of her neck and she leaned a tiny bit to the side. Elijah sat, leaning back in a chair by her bedside, looking all weary and tired. His usually clean-shaven look was scruffy, his hair looked like he’s been touching it a lot and his shirt looked like it had just been ejected out of a clothes iron. There were lines under his eyes, proving they had not slept much lately.

Elijah slowly opened his eyes and turned a little as if he felt her looking at him. This hope raised his features by relief when he noticed Amelia waking up. It was then he whispered low, “Amelia. ” “I am glad you are awake, may I know the way you feel please?” he asked with a very low tone

Despite her trembling lips, she tried to open it and her words got stuck, her throat was dry. Elijah quickly went towards a nearby table and collected a glass of water and taking her gently by the head, she drank. The drink had a cool effect on her throat which had become so dry.

‘Like I have been hit by a truck,’ Amelia finally replied, her vocal chords sounding rather hoarse. “A few trucks indeed. ”

Elijah drew his lips back into a ridiculous smirk. Then the shrink said, Well, that is to be expected given what you had been through.

Recollections of clearing as well as the battle against the vampires grown stronger which implies a breakthrough. This caused a reaction from Amelia’s body to contract and then Elijah had to reassure Amelia by touching her arm.

”It is alright,” he muttered. “You are safe now. We are safe here; they cannot harm us here, they are not around here. ”

But notwithstanding all the questions crowding in her mind, she unconsciously became a little more at ease. How many days have I been away

"Three days," Elijah replied. ‘’You endured. . . serious disfiguring wounds. But this Hybrid nature of you is helping in your recovery which otherwise should have taken much longer than this. ’’

When receiving the knowledge, Amelia nodded her head. Then it struck her. “You saved me,” she said tenderly to him, while still gazing at his eyes. In the open space workplace In the wilderness Would you come all the way to get me.

And then the tension that was evident on Elijah’s face seemed to dissipate and his expression became more or less neutral. “Of course I did. Since you left the cabin, I have been stalking you in order to shield you without undermining your struggle. I had to intervene today when I saw you were on the edge. ”

They finally walked up to Amelia and she felt a lump rise in her throat. “I am grateful,” she softly said.

Amelia thought she saw it in Elijah’s eyes and although he only nodded, he did feel something. This is when she was able to see har how much Elijah had behind her for several years. Not only now, in such a critical situation, but for as long as she can even recall, she felt this way. In all those trying times she had been a rock that he could always rely on.

Amelia exclaimed and furrowed her brows, “Elijah. ” “Why? Why have you backed me so much up? Bruce has my allegiance till death, but this felt more, much more than that. ”

Elijah’s face was covered by a shallow and for a brief moment he looked paternal, older than Amelia had ever seen him. Suddenly he got up and walked towards window. ”Amelia, you do not understand some things…are complicated. ”

Amelia tried to raise up to sitting position but the effort proved to be futile, pushing, ‘Then help me understand. ” Elijah quickly moved to the bed to adjust the pillows to ensure that they supported Amelia.

He tore his gaze away from her and said, “You should sleep. ” “We should talk about this after. ”

Amelia was not to be outdone by this They might not have been accomplices of previous times, but they were not going to allow any stone to be left unturned. She definitely had no clue and was in the shade for far too long without the knowledge of the whole truth. "No," she firmly replied. “Elijah no more secrets I said No more half-truths I think I have a right to know why you risked so much for me?”

Elijah stood up again, then sat back in his chair and silently took a deep breath. He stared at Amelia for a long time as if to make a decision on what action to take. Finally, he spoke something. ‘Of course, you are right; the truth is something which you really need, However Amelia , you have to understand that what I am going to tell you will definitely change the whole scenario. ’ ‘Are you sure you are ready to face it? "

Elijah tried to take a full breath. “Indeed, Amelia,” The reason I’ve stood for you, defended you, has been because… I felt this bond with you. ” He stiffened, hesitated and swallowed. "I'm your father. "

Those words heavy with meaning floated between them for a brief second. As if having the breath knocked right out of her, it was as if Amelia lost all energy. She could barely get the word out, “What?”

By the time he is through, Elijah has sorrowful looking eyes full of an odd mixture of desire and suffering. Way before you were born, many many years ago, I was born and then labeled to a pack. I took the liberty to introduce myself to the lady Rose who happens to be your mother. Yes we had an affair, as much as it is socially forbidden we had an affair. "

Amelia's thoughts whirled. This is not possible. Despite the attempt by her to down play the relationship, he was her father. . . , but we rubbed it all off and things started falling into place. The feelings that had never crossed her mind about the resemblances in their behavior, the way, in which Elijah had always been protective towards her.

‘But. . . my father. . . ‘ Amelia suddenly began to speak in rather refrain, her voice quivering slightly.
