CHAPTER 39
Bruce had thick curtains that he usually opened in the morning; however, the rays only illuminated the wooden floor across the room. Bruce placed his hands on the table with his fingers intertwined and a frown on his face when deep in thought. The man had gotten the feeling that there was something amiss in his pack and that is why he had arranged to meet Ema this early in the morning. He was determined to locate the crux of the conflict that seemed to escalate during the last few weeks.
Across the table Ema sat, her spine rigid, her gaze shining with curiosity and barely concealed stubbornness. She was waiting for such a moment and had planned it well; she was ready to activate her strategy.
Ema began by extending an apology, “Thank you for getting this meeting so early, Alpha,” she said this with no shakiness in her voice while inside she felt the fluttering of butterflies in her belly. No, I wanted to raise some points that I have at the moment I will follow your advice though. "
Bruce bent slightly forward and looked into Ema’s face with his black eyes. ‘Okay,’ He replied in a low calm tone.
Ema took a deep breath preparing for what was to come next. “It concerns Amelia,” she said, still focused on Bruce’s reaction. But what about the risk she poses to you and your pack; you forget that as well. ”
Despite this, Bruce was not showing any signs of being jealous; however, Ema could sense that Bruce’s eyes were becoming narrower whenever the name of his mate came up. He only asked: ‘’Explain’’ to me.
"Alpha, I’m sure you love Amelia" Ema intervened with a childish tone that she did not usually use, not to mention she was a beta too, You must accept the fact that she is a bad influence on the pack we are ruling. The conflict, the anxiety, and the doubt seem to be the emotions that drove the series. Her being a hybrid goes against all that has been built over the generations and all that we are as a society. "
Bruce’s lips formed a thin line, but he did not interrupt Ema as she went on to talk.
Ema did not stop there: ‘I have been collecting evidence for weeks, Alpha,’ She whipped out a thick folder from her bag. This is evidenced by the testimonies of the pack members who feel threatened by her presence. Reports of her illicit relations with foreign people. She intends to bring drastic changes in the manner in which the common people of this country are living. "
Bruce did not get up from the table when she placed the folder in front of him and pushed for him to take it. His face was again completely blank and his eyes were glued to Ema’s face.
“For that … evidence?” Bruce asked and although he noticed the smug look on Bane’s face, he couldn’t help but notice how worryingly low his voice was.
With determination, Ema adjusted herself on the chair as she threw a daring attitude of her chin up. She said, “Yes, I am going to present it at the pack meeting today. “ “To reveal to everyone how cruel and dangerous Amelia is to herself and everyone around here and that she should not be allowed to remain in the pack but we should resume obeying the old ways and get rid of her at once”.
There was a dreadful silence for a few seconds. That which Bruce said sent a shiver down the spine of Ema and when he looked into her eyes she instantly remembered she was not sure of beating a man. Had she overplayed it? But no, Annie decided, no she ‘wouldn’t’ let him have his way or control her. She had put too much effort, or rather effort in thinking into the process to reverse her now.
“And you think they will side with this?” Bruce finally asked in what could only be described as a ‘neutral’ inquiry.
Ema nodded and was eager to go ahead and implement the tasks. “Alpha, I’m sure they will. They are scared. Confused. As never before they need a powerful traditional leader. They will beg for a change the moment they are shown the proof and understand how great a threat Amelia is. ”
Bruce leaned back in his seat looking at Ema’s face. "I understand," he murmured. After a moment, he asked, and his tone was mixing curiosity and irritation, “And what would you have me do, Ema? What is your expected reaction to this… plan of yours?”
Ema's heart pounded. This was the time; this was the opportunity they had been waiting for. She sat, elbows on the table, directly facing them, and spoke in a tense whisper. “Come over Alpha, please,” she said passionately. Stay with your pack, with your people Give up Amelia and all that she offers Turn back and show them that you are still the leader they need.
Bruce's face became serious. He snarled, “You are telling me to deny my mate. ” “To leave my beloved female, “
Ema replied sharply, “I ask you to save your pack. ” “This is to preserve your bloodline, our culture. ” You have duties towards all of us even though Amelia is your wife or partner. It is assumed that you are to protect the tradition.
Bruce was quiet for a while thinking over the matter. He had a mixed look of pain all over his face as he shut his eyes tightly. When he started speaking for the third time, he could barely be heard near the phone. “What particular measures would one have to undertake to ensure that you did not put this plan into action?” he asked.
The situation with Ema began to worsen and she had a problem with breathing. This went beyond her imagination, outdoing her every single imagined expectation. She replied trying not to show her nervousness, “The contract, the one you brought Amelia here is expiring is it not? Today. ”
Bruce slowly inclined his head from side to side keeping his eyes shut.
“After that it is easy,” Ema echoed full of desire and anticipation in her heart. ‘Get rid of her. Discharge her and pack Amelia off, sending her back to where she belongs. Show the pack that you have accepted your follies and that you are serious about respecting the set traditions
The woman paused to catch her breath before continuing the final approach. ”And. . . marry me instead. Make me your Luna. We can lead the pack to a better future and the strength and purity we deserve through our unity.
Bruce’s eyes suddenly flew wide open and set his gaze on Ema; she suppressed the urge to avoid his scrutinizing look. Feeling a little uneasy, the man looked at the lady, then, in a very low tone, repeated the question, “Marry you?”
