Chapter 17
Morning. Benedict enters into Vixen s room. She knows that Vixen who is the daughter of the house takes time to wake up from sleep to begin to go for her affairs that need to be done. And so Benedict opens the door and finds vixen sleeping.
She heads straight to the curtains and opens it apart. Benedict knows Vixen utterly hates the morning sunlight and that is what's Benedict will use to wake her up from bed and the moment she drags the curtains, it shows daylight and Vixen opens her eyes and she groans as she hits the bed in annoyance.
Morning Vixen, Benedict says once again as she continues to hit the bed as the rest of the blinds open. Vixen groans and tries to turn to the other side where she opts to block the sunlight from passing through.
When it gets to the other side of the room and opens it open, there's literally no way for vixen to hide. She finally opens her eyes widely as she stares at the woman who is desperately trying to act as a mother to her.
Do you never get tired? Vixen says:
She looks at the woman who she is not able read in front of her. Normally, they are always fighting each other like cats and dogs but Benedict does her best to make sure Richard does not see all of this. This is the last thing she wants him to think, that she's still in some kind of muffle with his daughter, which is a thing that she's not supposed to be residing in.
At this moment. The man thinks she's the perfect one to take care of his daughter and she puts on that facade when she's standing in front of him. She and Vixen knows how long she can keep her lie and it is not an everlasting everlasting one.
"You have many things to do today, it is better you stand up from the bed." She says to her and Vixen shrugs as she gets up from the bed and she begins to follow Benedict as they head into the dining area of the house.
Breakfast is been served quite immediately and vixen looks around for father.
Where is my father? Vixen asks Benedict who literally just scoops a bowl of salad and doesn't answer her.
"I'm speaking to you." Vixen says.
And I'm not answering you! Benedict says as she fixes her eyes on Vixen.
Do you have no courtesy still? Since you have been a lady you've been trained for this and yet every single time you come to the breakfast without freshening up.
Have you brushed your teeth? Did you comb your hair or change into a morning dress? Then, you can come back downstairs. She says and Vixen looks at her as if she is asking for too much Benedict.
This is really all too much! Vixen says as she stands from the table in her night dress.
Vixen steps back into her room and she shuts it in anger and stares at nobody in truth. After that, she freshens up just like Benedict, and she is frustrated fora short while.
She comes back into the dining hall and she begins to have a bowl of salad.
Do you have any idea what what you'll be doing today? Benedict asks and she looks at Vixen. The last thing Vixen is interested in is what she'd be doing in the castle each and every day.
She had been doing the same routine for almost half of her life now and the last she wants to do is get excited about it. But for some reasons with the new man that lives in the castle, or at least the one that roams around the castle now. That one who is bulky in his dimensions, eyes that strike someplace she did not know she had in her heart.
A part of her wants to know but she would not show that to Benedict.
Oh Pray tell, Mademoiselle? Vixen says and Benedict rolls her eyes before she answers.
The Queen has invited us to be part of the committee that welcomes the Arab lords. What exactly do you do every time you go to the castle? You went to the castle to be associated with these issues and yet you have no idea. Where exactly is your head these days?
Oh, I mean, for the rest of your life since the beginning of your life when you knew that you had to take on the responsibility of queen.
"Your head has never been in the right place before." Benedict says and Vixen hits her hand on the dining table.
Enough! Don t cross it. Vixen says.
And if I do? What would you do? If I stopped speaking, what would you do? And if I do not stop speaking, what would you do? Do you even have any power? Benedict says.
"Oh, in a month I will have all the power right under my finger." You do know how the king literally plays to my tune. I'll play him like a drum, beat t it until there's nothing left to beat anymore. She says and Benedict looks into her eyes and she sees that there is not an atom of loving the expression of the way vixen has chosen to speak about the King David.
If this is someone she loves, she will not use them in a sentence that feels demeaning in a way to use them but yes, Vixen has used all sorts of these in the sentence and Benedict is just seeing the site.
But instead she doesn't see anything. Now that she has seen it. This is the first time and it is still fresh. She cannot even begin to make it make sense in her head. And so she doesn't say what about it instead?
She continues to focus on her food and have breakfast.
"In fact, I have no appetite anymore." Vixen says and the servants who are all around the dining overhear the conversation. They fear vixen.
Benedict may not fear her but they have been working under her and it's not a new thing to fear even after a long time. The only people that do not see a vixen are the ones who work in close acquaintance with her that is Emerald and Susan who come out as they begin to follow her.
Just as Benedict says, Vixen heads over to the castle for the whatever that she really doesn t care about that would he going on. She is in the carriage with her attendants. Susan and Emerald are-sitting in the carriage.
"I've heard a lot about the arab lord, I heard they are big muscular, and they are really eccentric." Emerald says and Vixen looks at her the moment she describes all of those features. It literally describes just one man to her and she smiles. She hears it.
"Oh please, emerald." You always hear these kind of things. Do I remind you what she thought about the last time I went to the marketplace? You told me you met a lot of men who came from the north with such arms and when I got there, the men all looked like all cowards.
For goodness sakes, that isn't it. You just really have a bad way of judging people. Emerald says.
So what else have you heard about the Arab lords, Emerald? Susan asks her and she looks at her.
"So as I was saying, I heard the Arab lords dwell in some kind of forest and they take pleasure in making wild animals domesticated."
"You know what I heard from the servants of the castle." I even heard that they will be coming to the castle with a giant Tiger.
What!? Vixen says as she looks at her and Emerald wonders if she has said something wrong.
"I've misspoken, my lady."
Not at all. "I just think it is just absurd to think that these people will ever be allowed to enter the castle with such wild animals." I mean a tiger, imagine if the tiger was to go rampart and kill all of us.
The king cannot possibly allow that not allow that. She says and Emerald nods in agreement.
Are you sure? I wonder why the king is letting such people who are dangerous on the outside to come into our environment. It's unsafe. Well, if my father's agreed to it with the king then probably it has some meaning to it. She says and Susan looks at her.
What about the bead, have you given up on it? Susan says and Vixen looks at her:
"I will never give up on my bead." Hunter threw it somewhere in the forest and I will definitely find a way to make him pay for it. She says and Emerald looks at her.
My lady, Why do you care so much for that bead. She says and immediately Vixen goes back into memory lane. "One that has happened a very long time ago." One that she did not have a very vibrant scar for but she remembers the circumstances that brought about it how it literally is something that gives her life to this very moment.
"Very soon she knows that she's going to have nothing, no life." No nothing. And perhaps that is what is daring her to be able to attract two men at the same time. She doesn't know what it is.
As long as her bead was far away from her, strength was leaving her, one after the other it was seeping out of her. She could only enjoy the small amount that she has left.
