Chapter 65
Vixen could never be considered to be someone who is patient with people. Patience was not in her dictionary, especially when she felt so entitled to everything.
She never really did anything to bother or wait for things, they always arrived for her even before she could call for it twice. And in this moment, she's waiting, something she's never done before. She's waiting for Hunter to come back from wherever it is that he is ready to leave her to.
And now she is thinking, over thinking actually it's really not good for our health. Yet, it leaves her to think about the dangers of what he hasn't told her yet. It is a dangerous thing to think about.
And she knows that her mind was supposed to reach that place where she felt that she had to understand what his intentions her. His intentions mattered to her. And when she can't seem to sense what is intention say anymore. This is exactly when things begin to prove to be painful.
And they were already proven to be only if you were to give her a damn explanation at the exact time when he needed. She needed it and should not have to wait for him now.
Vixen is tired of waiting anyways, she feels like doing something better and she wants to give it up. And the moment, she hears the horse pulling in from a distance and she stands on her feet immediately and she heads back inside, not make it look as if she was really waiting for him.
Another thing she really should quit doing was acting like she was disturbed about his absence even when it did disturb her. So now for her own sake and shame, also some kind of ego that she is keeping at bay.
She beads back upstairs to make it seem as if she wasn't waiting for his arrival on time and when he enters into the house.
Hunter finds the house quiet than expected, he actually expected Vixen to be standing someone close to the door and ready to shout at him or inquire of where he had been.
He knows he has some explanation to do when he first saw the gown. Hunter did not remember what it was about. And the moment he remembered it at the slightest moment, he felt a bit of guilt and he wants to explain that to VixenS
He wants to make her understand why that cloth was in a closet and Hunter cannot still believe there would be a time where be would have to give another woman explanation of what he can and cannot put in his house.
And perhaps this is the sacrifice that comes with making acquaintances and he cannot help but break it down.
Vixen. He says as he steps into the house and he cannot hear a single word coming from any area of the room.
He checks the receiving room to know if she's there before. It's upstairs and he heads into each room one after the other until he enters one room and he finds her cleaning up her bed.
"There you are." He says to her, she turns her face to meet him and she smiles.
"I see, you've gotten back from wherever you felt that you need to you need to run away to." She says to him.
"Okay, let me explain."
Hunter at that moment couldn't get himself to think or put into understanding everything that was happening around him.
"I'm sorry for not giving you an explanation earlier." But now I want to give you one. He says to her and her turns eyes eases into ferocious anger.
She begins to walk towards him.
"No Hunter, I don't care about your explanation anymore." We're still figuring this thing out. Right?
"I didn't have the time or the right to be jealous about you." She says to him, and he extends his hand to meet her and make her understand but she steps back before he can touch her.
Am I not right Hunter? Isn't that what this is about? Do you really even care for me? Do you see me as something that you have to cultivate and keep? Because sometimes I feel that in my eyes all you think of nice little immature girl.
I was sheltered from the world. And for the first time, having the freedom and opportunity to step out. You, yourself will not bring your secrets to me so easily.
"You rather make me follow you like a dog that I am not. I didn't come back and tell me that you know, I deserve an explanation." If you knew that I deserved an explanation, then you would have given me when I saw it deemed fit not when you thought about it.
"That's what you do and care about someone's feelings." You don't do things at your own pace, you do things in a manner to not ruin the peace between you and that person. And Hunter, you have ruined the peace between us and I'm not going to take it lightly with you. She says to him, and he nods his head, trying to make her know that. Yes, he has wronged.
"Yes, I acknowledge my mistake." I shouldn't have done that. I'm sorry, Vixen, please. I promise you I did not see you as any of those things you have said.
"I've… I treat you with respect." And I will always continue to. I promise you, you are no less in my eyes here. You're smart, you're brave, and bold and I will never reduce you to any of those insecurities that you may have.
"Oh, please, Hunter. It is not insecurity." It is what you've always called me since the first day we met. She says and is about to excuse herself away from but he takes a hold of her. And at this moment, she does not see it coming.
"Yes, yes, we started off a very long path. We became enemies but now look at where we are." Far from Southland, far from our family. We never saw each other like this but I promise you that even if I felt a slightest bit of what I was, I would never be in this position with you.
Vixen, please let me just explain. When you first showed me that gown, and it didn't click anything. And the moment I remembered what that was, I couldn't waste any more time than to find this person.
"And I know you're wondering what this person is. And yes, I met this person eight years ago." During the wars, her family was caught up in the war, her father died and she was with her siblings.
Some of her siblings were parted. And they were all alone looking for each other as a general in the army. I gave them refuge in my house. "This gown especially, was one that she told me her mother left her." They stayed in my house for about a year before they decided to move on. And I forgot about it.
"So, seeing this dress made me remember the conversation that I had with this woman. It is nothing." I promise you that I haven't lied to you about anything. It's nothing to me. I simply remembered what the story was all about.
And I decided to try to bring it back, Vixen, do you understand me? He says as she folds her hand and looks at him.
She takes time to ask her inner self if she's really buying his story. She looks at his eyes, the seriousness in his face can be equal to the time she asks him about his gun. And she also tell him that she believes in him.
She is just stressing him, which she knows she shouldn't do, but then she feels as if he made her think all night of what this means and what that means. So, she feels as if she should punish him a bit.
"Vixen, please." He says as he steps closer to her. And she cannot even look at the suffering on his face anymore. As she holds his hand and she places her forehead upon his chest.
Fine. She says and she smiles.
"I buy your story." She says to him and he smiles in gratefulness and she did not proceed to drag this moment anymore longer than she is supposed to.
So when you went out, what did you go do?
"I went to visit someone who knew her. And I thought I should know a bit more about her since she left without no communication." He says and Vixen nods in understanding.
"Well, wherever she may be, I hope she's fine."
And before she heads out of the room, to leave him to whatever is about to do. He places a kiss on her cheek and she can tell that they are still in a good place because all of a sudden, all of the anger and resentment that she's feeling for him is vanished.
