Chapter 61

Jake

After three weeks in the hospital, we were finally heading home. We decided on the name Amelia Woods. The three weeks that she was in the hospital with Amelia, I used that time to fix the nursery. I wanted to do it myself. I had Shawn take care of the company for a few days and took some needed time off. I spent almost every night at the hospital watching them. And Landon was always outside. Someone in the hospital saw us the night when she went into labor and posted that shit online. After that I had Landon, Shawn and the PR department doubling down and making sure Amelia’s picture didn’t get leaked.

When we left the hospital there were a few reporters outside. Landon and Teo made sure they didn’t get too close. Amelia was in her car seat. Avery made sure she was covered. now I had another female to protect not just my wife anymore. When we got home. They were all waiting for us. Well waiting for the baby. Andrea was here with Cassy and so was James.

Avery left Amelia with Irene and the others. Cassy came over to me.
“Handsome man she is so tiny, I can’t play with her she will get hurt” she said looking at Amelia who was asleep.

She’s tiny now but she’s going to get big really really fast then you can play with her” I said looking at her.
“Really” she asked, her eyes wide
“Yes really” I said, and she ran to her mother and in that second, I knew I would do anything for Amelia and Avery. I knew I loved Avery but the minute I held Amelia, I felt so much love, Love I didn’t know I could have for anyone other than Avery.

Later that night when the house was quiet, I stood in her room looking at her asleep in her crib. I don’t even know my parents. They abandoned me for whatever reasons and never looked back ,but I made something of myself. I felt her beside me and pulled her into me.

“I love you baby girl. She’s so perfect. I didn’t think….” I trailed off.

“You could love someone so much. I love you Jake but I’m saying this now, I love our daughter more” she said smiling at me.

“I have my own family princess, and it was all because of you. Thank you, baby. Do you want more kids”?

“Nope. Let’s go to bed” she said smiling at me.


Avery

Life has settled down now. I was in my last year of college and did it online. It’s been one month since Amelia was born and Jake was like a mad man. He keeps saying I’m taunting him when I had no idea what exactly I did, but I figured it out a few nights ago and I could help but laugh at him. He had to wait six weeks before I could have sex, and it was screwing with him.

I had tremendous help with Amelia especially when I had online classes. Irene, Esther and Rachel. I was sitting in the living room playing with Amelia when Landon walked in.

“What’s up” I asked him

“Ummm Ms. McLean is here”


Resa hmm. “Let her in and stay with me” I said, and he nodded and left. I always knew Landow took his Job seriously but after Amelia was born, he was more alert somehow. I saw him walking back into the house with Resa. She had a giftbag in her hands.

“Hello Avery”

“Hi Resa, have a seat” I said nodding towards the couch.

“Sorry for dropping in on you. I was in Bennington for work, I returned yesterday, and Uncle Garret told me you had a baby girl. This is a small gift from me” she said handing me the bag.

“Thank you Resa” I said taking the bag from her. I could see the way Landon was looking at her.

“She’s beautiful. I’ve seen pictures of your mother. She looks exactly like her. What is her name”? she asked me

“Amelia. Would you like to hold her” I asked her and saw London almost lost his shit.

“Thank you but no, I’m scared, and I don’t think your husband or security would like that. I just came to congratulate you and see her. I wanted to ask you something” she said

“Sure” I answered not taking my eyes off Amelia who had fallen asleep.

“Remember when you were thirteen and I had sneaked you out to go to the movies”? she asked, I looked at her why was she bring that up and of all times now. I guess she saw the look on my face.

“I don’t mean anything but remember that night clearly. We climbed over the side wall and there was a car parked on the road” she said then I remembered it.

“A black four door sedan. When we got to the theater I got scared and told you the car was following us, and you said we would check so we went to the corner store, but it didn’t follow us” I said

“Then you kept telling me you would see the car at the same spot on the road from your window. I forgot about it, but I visited mom this morning and she said. Well, she said Renee Lied, that Alexis and I can’t be half-sisters because after she got pregnant with me, my dad got a vasectomy. And I think the car that we saw that you kept seeing, maybe Renee knew that person, because no one would just park their car at that place, besides Damion wouldn’t allow them. I’m saying it now because while I was driving here, I saw that car a few moments ago parked right where we saw it that night so many years ago. I took a picture” she said handing her phone to me.

“Landon, call Teo and have him check” I said, and he pulled his phone out.

I looked at the picture and sure enough it was the same Car. I showed it to Landon.

“Send it to me” he said, looking at Resa. She asked for his number and sent it to him.

When Jake got home that afternoon, during dinner I told him what Resa said and what I remembered. He said he would talk to the security detail and have them investigate it. He was acting strange.

“Jake”?

“Yes Love”? he answered but didn’t look up. I put my fork down and looked at him. I guess he felt my stare because he put his for down and stood up, he grabbed my hand and led me to his office. He held me by my waist and buried his face in the crook of my neck. I ruffled his hair.

“Talk to me, aren’t you happy Jake? do you regret everything now”? I asked quietly. He looked at me immediately.

“No love, I don’t. I’m sorry I made you feel that way. Something happened today”. He said. I waited for him to tell me.

“My Biological mother showed up today along with my sister”. He said, the tone in which he said it, let me know how he was feeling. I held his hand.

“Are you sure she is really your mother”? I asked

“We’ll receive the DNA test tomorrow. If mine and my supposed sisters match because according to her, we have the same father. I don’t…” he said quietly.

“You don’t know how to react to this do you? you have questions that you’ve always wanted to ask but you’re scared of the answers”.

“How do you know me so well”? he asked caressing my face.

“Because you’re my husband and I love you. Whatever happens I’ll be right here beside you and so will amelia”. I said kissing him. When he fisted my hair, I pulled away and smiled at him.

“You have your doctor’s appointment next week right”? he asked, pulling me back into him.

“Yes. One more week and then you can take me, but in the meantime, I’ll help you relax”, I said sinking to the floor and undoing his pants, at the same time there was a knock on the office door. I stood up and smiled at him. I opened the door, and Irene was standing there with Amelia.

“She just woke up and is a bit fussy”. She said as I took her. Jake walked over to me and took her from me and sat with her. “Why are you awake? it’s time for you to be asleep, princess”. He said looking at her, she stopped her fussing and just went quiet, listening to him.

On Friday Jake called me from work to say we would be having some guests for dinner, I just said it was okay. When he walked in at seven there were two women with him, one looked like she was in her forties and the younger one looked about thirty something. The minute he saw us he came over to us and tried to pick Amelia up.

“No, Jake go shower first” I said blocking him. He leaned over smiling and kissed me.
“Hi love”.

“Hi babe”, I said

“This is Renauta My biological mother and Leila My sister. This is my Wife Avery”, he said looking at them. I guess the DNA results came back positive.
