Chapter 62

Jake

I knew she would understand, what I didn’t expect was the result to come back as positive. For a few days it had me unsettled but I invited them home for dinner on Friday. I hoped she would understand and ask the questions that I couldn’t ask.

“Hello, please have a seat” she said, and I was surprised that even her voice changed. When she spoke to me, she sounded the way she always does but when she’s talking to others it’s different especially strangers.

“I’ll be back “, I said heading up to our room. After a shower I went back and joined them. “Where’s Amelia”? I asked her.

“With Irene and Landon, please excuse me. I’m going to make sure Esther and Rachel have everything in order”, she said, and her tone tipped me off. She stood up and walked in the direction of the kitchen.

“I’m sorry, your wife is a bit angry at Leila. Leila loves children, unfortunately she had a miscarriage. She wanted to hold your daughter, but your wife said no”, My supposed mother said. I wouldn’t even be angry at Avery.

“No one besides me, my wife, Irene and two other individuals are allowed to hold our daughter. Not even my father-in-law is allowed to hold her”, I said looking in the direction of the kitchen.

“Oh, I didn’t know. I know you’re wealthy but why so many precautions”? Leila asked me

“Because I was kidnapped, and he was shot twice. We only have people around us that we can trust”, Avery said as she made her way over to us and taking a seat next to me.

“That’s awful, who was it”? Renauta Asked

“My stepmother, aunt, stepsister and her boyfriend” Avery said.

“Oh, I’m sorry if I made you feel uncomfortable earlier” Leila said

“It’s fine. Dinner is ready, why don’t we head to the dining table”, Avery said. Okay something was up with her. Her answers were straightforward and direct, she didn’t ask them anything or try to make small talk.

Avery

We sat at the dinner table and ate. These two were up to something that much I was sure of. When jake left, I sat with them, I saw their eyes roaming around the house and when Leila’s eyes landed on my ring, I saw her eyes slightly widen. When she asked to hold Amelia, I was unsettled. Resa didn’t even ask to touch my child, I offered, and she refused because she knew Landon wouldn’t allow it. I just told her no. I picked up Amelia and headed to the back and left her with Irene. While I was coming back, I overheard them.

Leila: Mom, she seems young, too young to be with Jake. He should be with someone else.

Renauta: Leila, mind your words. We have no say in with your brother does. I am just happy that I found him after all these years, and he is happy and has a family of his own.

Leila: Mom, did you see the size of her ring.

Renauta: Leila, I said mind your words

I walked around the corner sand smiled at them. I needed information on them, and I know Landon would help me. During dinner i satred with the questions.

“Where do you live”? I asked

“We shifted Here a few months ago from Ashview”, Renauta said

“How did you realize that Jake was your son”?

Renauta Had a forlorn look on her face. “I saw him and it just clicked. A mother always knows her child” she said quietly.

“Then why was he at an orphanage”? I asked ,Leila dropped her fork and looked at me then at Jake, but he didn’t look up. I knew that’s why he brought them here because he couldn’t ask it.

“I think that should be between my, mother, my brother and I”, Leila said

I sat back and looked at her. Jake had yet to say a word. “I am Mrs. Woods. Whether you tell me or not, I will still know because unless my husband wants to be a divorced man, he would never hide anything from me. Be it bad or good he will tell me, so why was he left at an Orphanage and why did you raise her alone”? I asked.

Renauta touched Leila’s hand and looked at me. “Because I would have died. Their father and I were in love, I was eighteen. I grew up in an orphanage also. Leila Was five when Nathan was born. That was the name given to him”, she said, and I looked at him. He just nodded.

“It was after he was born that the abuse started. I didn’t have a Job, friends or family. One night he had beaten me so severely, that was the night I decided to run with my children. When Max passed out drunk, I took whatever I could, and we left. I had no money or nowhere to go. We were at the bus station, and I was at a loss. I returned to the same Orphanage I grew up in and I left them there. I told Leila that if anyone asks, she doesn’t know her name, but she started crying saying not to leave her, that she would be good. My heart broke that day”.

I could feel Jake shaking beside me, so I dropped my hand to my side and held his hand. He squeezed my hand, and I knew he needed that.

“I took Leila with me, and I left Nathan at the doorsteps of the Orphanage. We waited until I saw the doors open, and the sister took him in. We travelled south to Mistern County. I got a job and worked. Leila would go to school then stay locked up in the tiny apartment until I got home. I returned to the orphanage six months later to get you, but you weren’t there, and the sisters wouldn’t tell me where you were. I searched for you everywhere I could but didn’t find you. I’m sorry Nathan”, Renauta said looking at Jake, she was crying now.

“Love”? I looked at him.

“Yes Jake”?

“What would you have done in that position”? he asked me, and I knew he was trying to drive a point across. I looked at Renauta.

“If I had to starve, I would gladly starve as long as I had both my children with me that was all I would need to give me the strength. I’m sure I would find someone that would be willing to help me with my children while I slave away to make a better life for us”. I said looking at the woman.

“This is my wife, she’s eighteen years old and her mentality and will power is more than many women including you. Teo will drop you home”, Jake said standing up and walking out. I looked at them.

“He is willing to accept you, but he can’t forgive you for abandoning him, it will take a while for him to fully accept you. For as long as he remembers he’s been alone. He met me and I gave him a family and home. Give him some time”, I said looking at them.

“Okay”, Renauta said

“Are you really Eighteen years old”? Lelia asked

“Yes, I am”. I said standing up. I headed upstairs and found him sitting beside Amelia’s crib. I went over to him, and he held me by my waist, burying his face into my body. I ran my hands through his hair.

“I’m here, I’ll always be here, I promise you”.

“I love you princess”, he said looking up at me.

Jake

I was sitting with Amelia outside Rusland’s office, today was her checkup. There wasn’t anyone there. I made sure to pay Rusland well because he had to close his clinic when we had an appointment. Amelia was asleep. When she walked out thirty minutes later, she smiled at me, she was going to get her ass breed again.

“Mr. Woods, everything Is okay. Amelia is okay also”, Rusland said looking at me. On the way home, I stated formulating how to keep her ass in the room with me for a few hours. When we got home Irene took Amelia, guess everyone knows. I was after her in two seconds. When I walked into our room, she was on the bed naked.

“Fuck princess”. I said pulling my shirt off. She opened her legs while smiling. I didn’t need to ask or think. I leaned over her taking her mouth. She leaned into me moaning into my mouth.

Suddenly someone was knocking on the door. “Fuck”. She started laughing. She got off the bed and walked into the closet. I wore my shirt and opened the door. Landon was standing there.

“Boss. Umm Garret, Resa and your mother all three had an accident, separate places at the same time. Something is happening boss”.
