Chapter 70

Avery

Renauta started trembling even more. Teo picked up the knife and grabbed her finger and pressed the knife to it. 

Renauta: No 

Teo: Then why are you with him in his home?

Renauta: it’s a scam

Leila looked at Renauta, it seemed like she wanted to say something. So, I typed it out. “Switch to Leila. She’s trying to get Renauta to shut up. Cut her a bit if you need to”, 
Teo moved over to Leila and grabbed her pinky finger, pressing the knife into her finger. Damn, that knife was sharp.

Teo: No screaming. Are you related to Jake Woods?

Leila: No 

Teo: Now you two need to be honest with me. I know she is truly Randall’s daughter. I need information from her. Now, if you two aren’t related to Woods, it’s going to be a fucking problem for me because I have three body bags and I really don’t want to kill some random women, so start talking. Who are you? And why the fuck are you parading like his family?

Renauta: A... a... a ma... A man came to us and asked us if we wanted to make easy money. All we had to do was separate Jake from his wife and kill her.

Teo: Who is the man

Leila: Mayor Morrison

Teo: How did you convince Woods that you were his family?

Leila: the mayor has his real mother and sister locked away somewhere.

Teo: I guess the mayor has some tricks up his sleeve. Why does he want the woman dead? 

They looked at each other.

Teo: I don’t have time. Answer me so I can decide if to let you live or kill you.

Leila: She Killed his son and Woman 

Teo: if I am correct, Mrs. Morrison is still alive, right? 

Teo looked at Daryl, who nodded. 

Leila: Not his wife, his mistress. Renee Peterson. 

Teo: ahh so he was the one that ran all those people off the road?

Renauta: Yes. He wants to get rid of them both.

Teo: lucky for you. I don’t need impostors; I need the real family so. If you can find out where he has them, I’ll let you go. 
Renauta: we don’t know where he has them

Teo: Come now, you must know. I know that a DNA test was done, and it came back positive. How?

Leila: Morisson swapped the swabs that were used. 

Teo: Do you know what Woods' mother and sister’s names are?

Renauta: No, we don’t, please let us go.

Teo: No. You will remain here until I get the real Family, until then make yourself comfortable. 

Teo walked over to Sherry. 

Teo: Ms. Randall, are you going to give me the details? You’ve been here for a week now, and I’m out of patience. Either tell me what I want to know now or I have no use for you. I’ll get your mother. Maybe she will tell me.

Sherry: Go to hell 

Teo stabbed her and the two idiots started screaming. 

Teo: Take Ms. Randall’s body out. If I hear another sound from either of you, one of you will die. I only need one of you. 

Teo blindfolded them and put the gags in their mouths and we left. Once upstairs. I helped Sherry out of the contraption. “That was fun”, she said, smiling. 

“Avery, we need to call the boss and get them back”, Landon said, pulling out his phone. From his tone alone, I knew he was worried, especially about his wife and daughter, and I didn’t blame him because I was worried about all of them. 

Jake

We were relaxing out on the patio. I saw Landon calling, so I answered. I listened to what he was saying. I ended the call and looked at Damien. 

“Get this house on lock down. Irene, Get up here, everyone inside now”, I said, walking into the house. 

“Mr. Wood’s what’s going on”?, Andrea asked. 

“Mayor Morrisson is behind everything. He and your Ex-wife were lovers, he’s pissed because she is dead and so is his son”, I said walking around, making sure everything was locked up. I closed all the curtains. 

“WHAT”? Garret said. 

“Mr. Woods everything is good. The rest of the security detail is on alert and hidden. We’re waiting for orders from Landon. They are on their way here”, Damien said, and I just nodded. 

We sat in the living room quietly. What the hell was happening to us? About an hour later I heard the knock on the door. I handed Amelia to Irene and opened the door. She was standing there with Landon behind her. 

“Okay, we’re heading back home” she said, walking over to Irene. 

“Boss, I called in more security detail for the house. We have enough to get home”, Landon said. 

“Okay, let’s go. Then we’ll handle this. Avery, you, Amelia, Cassy, Andrea, Irene and Esther will head back in the Tank. The rest of us will come with the other cars”, I said. One look at me, and she knew it wasn’t up for a debate. 

“Okay” she said, grabbing Cassy’s hand. 

On the way back to Ryedale, Teo kept them insight. He handed me a phone. There was a video, so I played it. I couldn’t believe what I was seeing. “Teo is Sherry hurt”?

“No Boss. It was something we made per the Mrs.’s. Instruction”.

“Okay”, I said. I continued watching the video and listened to Renauta and Leila talk. The minute we got back home, Landon jumped out of the tank. And the rest of the security details stood around the tank as Landon and a few of the other guys went into the house to make sure everything was clear. After a few seconds, Landon came back out, motioning for them to get out and head inside. The minute we got into the house, I felt a bit relieved knowing that they would be safe at home. 

The minute we got back in, everyone went to do something. I took her hand and led her to my office. She stood looking at me. “Before you say anything, Avery, no, you have done enough. Let me. Landon and the rest of the security details handle Morrison. I'm going to get Shawn on the line. And I'm going to make sure Morrison gets ruined through Ryedale. I will find my mother and sister. You've done enough, love. I don't want you to get hurt. I don't want Amelia to get hurt. Because if Morrison could go this far, who's to say he won't? He won't hurt you. Amelia, Irene, Sherry, Esther. Anyone. And I can't take that chance. I can't lose you. I just can't”.

She smiled at me.” OK, I'll let you do this. I'll stay right here, and I'll wait for you”.

I grabbed her and pulled her to me and took her mouth. She returned my kiss. “I love you, baby girl, I really do. I'm going to leave now. Landon stays with you, OK”

“OK. And be careful, Jake”.

“I will love, I promise”.

We went back outside, as we turned the corner. Landon was walking into the house dragging a man. He dropped him on the ground. I looked at her. 

“Cassy, why don’t we go play with baby”?, she said, lifting the little girl up. I guess he didn’t want to traumatize her. Andrea left with her also. I walked over to where the man was and looked at him. 

“Where did you find him”?, 

“On the other side of the fence, he had a gun on him”, Landon said. I looked at the man. 

“Now you have ten minutes to start talking before Landon puts you in a body bag”, I said. 

“I was paid. The mayor paid me two million to get the girl”, he said shakily.

“Which girl”?, I asked. 

“The baby, Woods Daughter”. I think I snapped. Because I was there, and I wasn’t. All I saw was red and the buzzing sound in my ears. I felt someone holding me but didn’t know who. 
“Jake, Jake, look at me please”, I heard her voice, but I couldn’t focus. 

“Please, Jake, look at me. Amelia needs you”, 

When everything came into focus, she was standing in front of me holding onto my hands and the man was covered in blood. Landon just stood there looking at me with an expression I'd never seen before. 

“Look at me Jake, Amelia’s okay. Look, Irene has her. She’s safe”, she said, holding my face. When I looked over, I saw Irene holding her. I walked straight up into our room and stood under the shower. Fuck, I really just lost my mind at the thought of someone hurting our daughter. I heard the shower door open, but I didn’t turn around.
