Chapter 21

4:30pm

Jason’s POV
Two hours later we are both headed out of the hotel.
“Will mate come home with us today?“ Spike asks as we pull into the lounge parking lot. “I doubt it, she’s a successful businesswoman that’s made a name for herself here, she doesn't seem like the type to just drop everything and leave. That’s probably why she wants to sort out our expectations from now,” I say as I park. I get out and walk up to the back door. I am about to knock when Ryan opens the door. “Alpha Griffin” he says with a nod, “Beta Ryan” I respond stepping in. As I walk past him, I smell her scent on him. “Why is mate’s scent on him?” Spike grumbles. “Their scent isn’t mixed so it was probably just a hug” I answer. As I enter the dining area, I see Ms. Xander pacing back and forth.

“Your job is simple, get her to where she needs to be without being detected,” she says into her phone, “she is to be treated with respect at all times…okay…let me know when you’ve picked her up," she says before hanging up. I clear my throat as she pinches the bridge of her nose. When she looks in my direction I see her blood-red eyes, indicating that her vampiric powers were in full effect. Sighing, “Mr. Griffin, you are a very hard man to reach,” she says, walking to the table in front of me and taking a seat. “Is there something wrong?” I ask taking a seat at the same table. “Yes,” she answers seriously. Slightly furrowing my brows, “Where is she?” I ask. With a sigh, she motions for us to sit. Taking a seat at the table, “Mr. Griffin you already know Ryan, my head of security”. "Yes," I nod in acknowledgement and he does the same. Turning to Ron, “I’m guessing this is your Beta?” she asks, “Yes, Ron is my beta and closest friend” I answer. Fully acknowledging him she says, "It's nice to meet you Ron". Then, looking back at me, "Something came up and Ms. Redd won't be joining us anymore. Realizing that she was not joking, I start to get upset. Ms. Xander, I'm not one to joke around when it comes to my mate.

Also growing impatient, Ron makes a mistake. Before I can stop him he lets out a threatening low growl and slams his fist down on the table as he says, "stop messing with us, we've been waiting over four years to find our Luna..." With blood red glowing eyes Ms. Xander cuts him off, “Listen and listen good, when you’re in my territory, and in my establishment you speak to me with respect. Don’t mistake my leniency for weakness because I can end you in the blink of an eye”. Looking at Ron, I’m surprised to see his skin going pale as if he can’t breathe or move. Chuckling I interject, “Ms. Xander I would really like to return home with my best friend, so let me apologize on his behalf.” As if waiting for my official apology, she raises her left brow. Shaking my head, “I’m sorry for his disrespect” I say with a smirk. Smiling in return, she releases whatever hold she had on him. Then, with a sigh she says, “Sorry, I’m exhausted and irritated so my patience is running short” as Ron gasps for breath. “It’s okay I understand, after all, vampires aren’t really known for their patience” I state. With a shrug she says, “True, so I think it would be best if your beta goes and sit at Ryan’s table”

With a nod, I link him to go to the next table.

“I guess my assumption that you’re a hybrid is wrong” I say

Chuckling, “No, you’re not wrong, I’m half vamp half wolf. The difference between other hybrids and me is that both of my parents are alphas. Well, my father is a high ranking pure blood vampire and my mother was an alpha luna. They were mates, so in essence I'm an Alpha Hybrid" she chuckles. As a result, I inherited both of their strengths. I have a wolf but she really doesn’t come out much. It’s actually a little annoying when other wolves feel they can slug their minuscule authority around and I end up having to rely on my vampiric strength all the time. "

“Ms. Xander, do you know who I am?”, I'm curious to since there are only a few individuals that remain unbothered by my presence. “Yes, alpha Jason Griffin of the Blood Moon pack. I've heard quite a bit about you, the strongest alpha in the ware world currently” she answers, “Do you know who she really is?” “She’s the CEO of Phoenix AI” I say confidently. “Yes and no” she answers. I am slightly confused by her answer so I ask, “What does that mean?”. Resting her chin on her right palm she says, I can’t tell you exactly who she is, but what I can say is that she is also just as respected as you.

I can tell that something is bothering her and I can bet that it has everything to do with my mate, so calmly I say, “Ms. Xander, please don’t tell me I came all this way just for you to test my patience”. Sigh, “She was here, but something happened and she had to leave immediately” she answers while opening up the laptop in front of her. Turning it to face me and hitting the spacebar she says, “See for yourself”. I watch as she arrived and Ryan hugged her. She looked amazing in her dress and heels. “Our mate dressed up to see us,” Spike says excitedly,

Then I saw how they all sat and talked. After that, I saw her look over at her phone, smile brightly and then it looks as if she answered the call. I’m guessing it was FaceTime since she stood the phone against one of the glasses that was filled with water. But then her smile drops and she looks worried. The call went on for a little while and she hung up. She says something to Ms. Xander and then goes upstairs. While she was upstairs, Ms. Xander picks up her phone and makes a phone call, it looks like the call went her way because she looked relieved when she hung up. Once Ms. Redd comes back downstairs, she has on a completely different outfit. She looks as if she was going to go fight someone, Black fitted pants or jeans (I can’t really tell), black fitted t-shirt, and a black bomber jacket. Her hair is now pulled up into a regular ponytail, and she looks silently angry. Ms. Xander takes a ring off of her right hand and hands it to Ms. Redd. They talk a bit more and then Ms. Redd puts on the ring on her left hand. Before she leaves, Ms. Redd hugs Ms. Xander and Ryan again. As they pull apart Ryan says something to her and she nods in agreement, then they both leave together.

“What happened?” I ask as the screen goes dark.
