Chapter 59

Sapphire's POV

" I just wish they owned up to the truth a long time ago," I said, taking a sip of my drink.

" You know, I think she did whatever they did with the best of interest. Of course, she thought she made the right decision by hiding your past from you, probably not to lose you. "

At that moment my phone rang, and I picked it up.

"Hello Sapphire, where have you been? It was just a party, wasn't it? Am I missing out on anything" It was Leo, my best friend asked.

" Oh, he cares, how lovely to know that you care about me, " I teased, stealing a glance at Jason, smiling.

"You know I don't care. I just felt like I should know where you are "

"I believe you on that, careless mf. So, tell me, what have you been up to?"

"Nothing much, just chasing the love of my life."

"Good luck with that," I said, chuckling.

" Tell me, why are you not at home yet? Your parents are killing me with suspicious eyes everywhere they see me."

" Look, Leo, I'll need your help, inform them both that I'm doing fine here, I'll be back when my head is cleared a bit" Jason stretched his hands and held mine, still looking outside the window. He knew I needed support, and he gave me one, it was all I could ask for, all I needed and it meant a lot to me.

"Not that they care that much about you anyway. You've been a nuisance throughout your life, it is best you should stay far away from us all," he teased. You'll pick up offense from his statements if you were not close to him.

"Sarcastic dark-humored mf. You'll never change, would you? You called to check up on the nuisance in your life, good luck with that." At this statement, Jason burst out in laughter and I joined him.

" Wait, do I hear a male voice there? You're cheating on me, aren't you, Sapphire? I'm severely heartbroken."

" I've been cheating on you from the beginning, Leo. You've been replaced with a more suitable best friend, my mate." I gazed at Jason as I talked, his eyes, and beautiful facial looks, and I felt like the luckiest in the world.

"You've replaced me with Jason already? What's going on, Sapphire, why are you doing this to me?" he teased again, taking it to its climax. We were used to such drilling by ourselves.

"Oh, I'm sorry about your heartbreak. Jason and I would do our best to patch it up, we've got the best glue in the world."

" He attended the party too?"

" Yes he did love, he came with his beta, but he stayed back while his beta went back to function in the Royal chamber of their pack."

" Oh, I see. So, in what manner did he sweep you off your feet? Are you ok?" He asked without giving me time to answer the first question, so I just listened to him.

" I'm ok, Leo. I guess his intentions are pure. "

" We'll need to discuss more about this, Sapphire. "

"Look Leo, I'll get back to you. Don't be bored without me."

" Of course, I wouldn't," he replied, cutting the line.

" You have a peculiar connection with your best friend, and it's nice," Jason said, still holding my hands and smiling.

" You think?"

" Yeah, just hear me speak with my Beta," he replied, laughing lightly, still staring at me. My eyes glued to him, I laughed too, starting gently, then it got louder, his voice increasing too, in laughter, and soon we both were laughing at full length. He bent towards me, tickling me. I laughed the most.

"Jason," I said, laughing. He continued as I tried to resist him, it was all pleasing. Gradually, he stopped, both of us laughing at the top of our voices.

"Jason, you're ....." I said, fits of laughter choking the rest of my words.

"A pest? A nuisance? Tell me, love," he said, still laughing.

"Hmmm, I guess I would say hot. You're hot, Jason." I put my hands on his well defined chest, looking at him tenderly, we were both staring at each other.

"You're beautiful, Sapphire. Not just beautiful, you're sexy, words can hardly describe how perfect you are. He picked up my hand still on his chest, kissing it lightly, his eyes still fixed on me. He placed them back on his chest.

I looked at him for a while, different thoughts going through my head. Life was going so far and suddenly I had to deal with my parents and with me being an elemental. I suddenly looked out of the window, those thoughts growing in my head. My hand was still placed on his chest, but my face was facing outside.

"Still thinking about the elemental stuff?"

" You've done it again, Jason. You've successfully read my mind again."

" Perhaps I care so much about you, that's why I get to read your inner thoughts. Perhaps when you get to care for me that much, you'll be able to read through my mind too."
“Sorry, I just did that out of curiosity but you can block me from your mind just won’t show you how to” he paused " Look, Sapphire, just give your parents a chance to do better beside you, they truly care. I still see the love in their eyes when they look at you." he continued

" I'll try, but it's hard. More difficult to trust them with the truth. They lied to me and made me feel that it was a dream. When I trusted them the most and needed their help, they shattered it all. When I thought they were so close to me, I discovered they were actually far away from me."

I looked out the window again. The limousine was driving quite slow, slow enough for me to notice how beautiful the sun looked in the sky, a sunset serenade.

"Beautiful, isn't it?"
