Chapter 48
Jason's point of view:
Ron kept quiet for some more time trying to figure out who the vampire was. They weren't common in our region and the ones who came in sometimes left after their business. There was no love lost among these two natural creatures so malice was avoided as much as possible. They weren't allowed to our public gatherings so a vampire being here was a rule breaker. That's why we were so curious about what she wanted.
“Jason?” Someone tapped me from behind. Ron drew back and positioned to attack at any wrong move from her. I turned to the hand on my shoulder and slowly looked up to the face it belonged to. It was Anne, Sapphire's friend.
I had met her during a little get together I had a while back. She was a hybrid, from Sapphire's pack. Although I had my reservations about her at first, I later realized that she was a good person, at least to her friends.
“Ron, she's chill “ I said and he hesitantly calmed down. He was already ready to go full wolf on her incase she tried anything fishy. As he sat down, I still sensed his energy on standby for the worst that could happen.
“Hi Anne, have a seat.” I offered. She sat down, graceful as ever. If there was anything Anne was known for, it was making a statement with her outfits. She was always on point. I scanned her body even if I wasn't supposed to. For a girl like her, it was really hard to resist looking at her. She had a tall height with a slim thick physique. Having flesh in moderation in all the right places. She wore a red body hug dress that was short, revealing most of her thighs and only hiding a small part of the top. I wondered why she had to be friends with my mate. I would have had her for lunch instead.
When she sat down and I lifted my eyes, I found Ron also starring, his energy calming down and his lust filling the room instead.
“A man's weak point.” I whispered into his head. We laughed and she looked at us, confused.
“So how have you been?” I start a conversation.
She slapped the air with her hand like she was brushing off something.
“I've been fine. A lot of traveling here and there mixed with clan work and pack meetings. It's not easy to be a valuable hybrid and an ambassador you know.” She said proudly.
Did I forget to mention that she was a braggadocio?
Ron furrowed his brows and looked at her, a tinge of disgust forming on his lips. That was also my first expression after meeting her but overtime, I came to realize that she was a sweet soul and never meant to seem like that. Instead, she only wanted to share her wins with people she thought of as friends.
“Okay, that's a nice achievement. I guess you're really working extra, yeah?” I asked.
“Yes darling Alpha. It's been a whole lot of work and it's getting tough on me and hard but it's all fine. I'm capable so I'll cope.” She answered. Then she rolled her eyes,
“Forget about me, how have you been?” She asked. Aside from being full of herself, she never let that get in the way when taking care of her friends.
“I'm fine. Just pack business and a lot of new things playing out since I met my mate.” I answered truthfully.
She smiled.
“Love does change people,” she shook her head and smiled.
“I'm hosting a party tonight.” She blurted, “ and she will be there. Just in case you need to speak to her.”
I smiled unconsciously. After leaving her house the day before yesterday, I haven't had the courage to call her or text her. I bled myself for her fall and wondered all day how she must be feeling and what she must be doing. I guess this is my chance.
I looked at Ron and he smiled and nodded, consenting her idea to meet her.
“Yeah, sure, we'll come.” I answered.
Ron squeezed his face, “we?”
“Yes, we. I'm not going anywhere without you.” He looked at me, shook his head and slapped his forehead feeling ashamed of me.
“We're no longer five year olds, you are now an Alpha and can do perfectly fine without me.” He said.
She looked at Ron, checking him out apparently to our surprise.
“He can come along.” She said dryly. Then suddenly adding more emotion she turned to him and put her pinky finger in her mouth.
“Infact, I think he should come along.” Ron just stared and nodded like she had put him in a trance. She probably did, vampires had that power although it didn't work on some wolves, it did for the most of them.
“Okay boys,” she got up, “I'll see you around. I have to catch up with Leo so I will go see your Luna.” She winked at me.
“Bye.”
She left, cat walking boldly and attracting stares from all round.
“That is one hell of a girl.” Ron whispered.
“Shut up bro.”
…………………………………………………
Going to a random club wouldn't have been worth it. The party was mixed, wolves and vampires so Ron was quite uncomfortable with the scent at first but got chill later on. It was a glow in the dark mask party and it was the craziest one I had attended in a while but still, I stood at a spot trying to avoid dancing or getting drunk so I could talk to Sapphire once I see her.
After a while of waiting, girls had come and gone, Ron had followed some to a hotel room to make out. I felt bad about missing the fun but the fact that Sapphire was here, made me keep in check.
Then her scent passed my nose. I followed her and found her sitting in a corner awkwardly. I knew it was her because of her scent and because I knew I was expecting to see her but the way she agreed to dance with me showed that she didn't know who I was at all. Still I couldn't stop myself. Spike was so excited and I guess Enya was too because she wouldn't stop moving. Some part of her probably realized it was me but her stubbornness wouldn't let her agree to it.
And so later that night, when she realized that she had just let me mark her, I felt guilty, I felt like I had broken her trust, the little she had that I couldn't go against her wishes.
