Chapter 46

Sapphire's point of view:

I looked around the hall. I was so uncomfortable. There were so many unknown people, and then this short black dress made them stare at my skin. It wasn't the dress that made me uncomfortable; it was the fact that I smelt a vampire, and I couldn't tell who it was among the people around me because all of them kept staring like they wanted to eat me. I blame Anne and Leo for setting me up to come here to a vampire and werewolf party.

It wasn't entirely their fault though; I'll say it was my ego and love for proving points that got me here.

“Anne!” I yelled when she showed up earlier at my house in the afternoon. A few hours after the drama with mom.

“Girl,” she ran up to me and hugged me. Picking me up and twirling me around with immense strength. She was so excited and happy to see me after not hearing from me for a while. She was a vampire, but a good one, the best one for me.

“I heard all about what's been going on. I'm so sorry, my darling,” she said, arranging my hair even if it didn't need arranging.

Anne was a perfectionist, always wanting everything sparkly clean and aligned. She wasn't obsessed with it though; it was much like a calm obsession. Something that brought out the glam in her. It was her perfectionist nature that made her as attractive as she was and made me drawn to her.

“It's okay,” I replied, hugging her again. In reality, I did need her warmth.

“So what has she been doing all the while?” She asked Leo from behind me.

He shrugged and made a crying face by folding his hands and wriggling them in front of his eyes.

The bastard.

I let go of her and smiled.

“Want anything?” I offered.

“Yes.” Leo answered swiftly.

I gave him a side eye, “I definitely wasn't talking to you.” I answered. We all laughed and Anne swirled around before stopping excitedly and clapping her hands together.

“Guess what guys!”

“What?” We asked in unison. Yes, Anne was always a drama queen and we should be used to her bubbly announcements by now but they still excited us because everytime she did that, whatever it was was always lit.

“Well… there's a party this weekend.” She started then looked over to Leo and then at me sourly. “But it's a vampire party. With wolves of course, and I promise it won't be just both of you.” She added for clarity.

The sound of a party was cool but the mention of a vampire party wasn't one bit appealing to me. I didn't like vampires. Anne was my friend because I didn't know she was a hybrid from the start, I thought she was fully wolf. And she knew this fact, that was why she gave me that look.

“Don't be a sour pus and just come along with us” she wailed.

“No, I don't like being looked at. They'll stare all night. It's like they don't like the smell of ‘dogs’ , remember?”

That alluded to a party we attended in freshman year. She had told Leo and I that there were other vampires but unknown to us, we were the only ones and when a fight broke out between Leo and another vampire, they kicked us out of the party saying that ‘dogs’ were not invited.

She tilted her head and gave me puppy eyes.
“How many times do you want me to apologize for that day? I mean, I didn't know it was strictly vampires only. ” She wailed in her defense.

“Oh please,” Leo concurred with me.

I smiled because that meant he also wasn't going.

“You didn't know when the host, who was your boyfriend, threw us out of the party?” He asked.

“Well guess who threw you out too?” He laughed at his dark humor joke about her boyfriend breaking up with her. It was so funny and the urge to laugh made me hide my mouth behind my palms and laugh silently but the sound was heard by her and she pouted her lips.

“I'm sorry guys. You mustn't be so cold. And petty,” she enunciated petty so loudly, it could completely trash the apology.

“This would be different I promise.” She said,

“Okay, cool, I'm in.” Leo accepted.

I turned to him, giving him a deadly glare.

”What??

“Yeah,” he shrugged, “ I don't have any problem attending the party. I just won't get into a fight again and get kicked out.”

“You have to prevent getting drunk again first.” Anne added and we giggled.

“And we all know that that's impossible.” There was another giggle.

We all went quiet for a while and when I looked up at the both of them, they were staring, arms akimbo and heads tilted.

“What?” They gave me a more dreadful look. “Urgh, fine I'll come. And Leo, put your hands down, you look gay.”

We all laughed at that one.

…………………………………………………

“A drink?” He offered and I accepted it, mumbling a quick thank you. Here I was at the party, feeling like I was about to be attacked by a thousand vampires and none of the friends who had made me come here was in sight. I was definitely going to kill them after this.

I tried looking around the room for them but it was a masked party and even I was unrecognizable. I was pretty sure that Leo was in some corner making out with a hot vampire he must have trapped while Anne would be greeting the guests and showing off her beautiful self. I was supposed to be jealous and spited by her braggadocio but instead, I found it really interesting.

His hand held mine and I felt a shrill. It felt like Jason's touch.
I looked at him, trying to make out his face from the mask. One thing I was sure of was that Jason would scent me and wouldn't do anything like this with me if he was the one. And how could he possibly be the one when he hated vampires so much.

It was definitely not Jason, so that's why when he pulled my waist close and started feeling my thighs I said nothing but let him. And even when he kissed me and led me into a room, the only words I said were, “harder.
I'M MATED TO THE STRONGEST ALPHA MALE
