Tough Decision

My eyes widen, choking on my saliva. Mrs. Smith chuckles and pats my back.
I drink the water a waitress brings before turning back to the doctor
" Excuse me?"
Is this woman crazy? I don't even like babies at all and now she wants me to carry one? No way. Ava, you can't.
" I don't even like kids," I tell her straight up,
" You don't have to like them to carry one, sweetie," She says, her voice so calm as though she did not drop a bomb for me to digest.
" Why should I do that, Doc, I already told you, I'm leaving this city as soon as possible,"
" You can't without money or documentation," She retorts. Fuck it, she's right. I only have $ 800 in my account.
" If you agree to do this, my ex-son-in-law and I will pay you lots of money,"
I take back my seat and sigh, covering my face in thoughts.
“ You want money and I want to fulfill my daughter’s wish,”
“ That doesn’t mean I’m willing to sell my womb!” I tell her sharply.
For so long, the doctor has been making me take tests and blood samples, she said it was part of the job. Well, I was tricked.
“ You weren’t looking for an assistant, you wanted a surrogate!” I accuse, damn, how could I be such an idiot, I should have seen this coming, I have two papers, no experience, nothing, and yet she hired me.
“ Loren’s fiance can give you the protection you need,"
I groan, I hate how composed she is during all this.
“ You’ve said it yourself, he wasn’t for the idea, now that she’s died he’ll hate it even more,” I try to reason with her.
“ He loved my daughter, and trust me, he won’t turn away from you or the child,”
What’s wrong with this woman, now she’s making it about the man. I put my hands in my hair, this is all confusing but if I can get protection then I'll be fine.
" Wulfric needs this, he needs you and that baby," She says softly again.
" And this man will give me security?" I can't believe I'm even giving it a second thought.
" Without a doubt. I’ll give you a week to think about it,”
Mrs. Smith gave me a week off to think about it and if the answer is no, I'll still continue working with her. After cleaning my apartment thoroughly, I decided to go to the mall just to relax and see if I can get some groceries. I carry my handbag when the bracelet from Mikael falls out. I crouch down to pick it up and stare at the beautiful jewelry. It is indeed unique and alluring, I wonder why Tai and Mario wanted it so badly and why did Mikael say he stole it from his clan? Did he mean family? He called it a witch's bracelet but there's nothing witchy about it. Putting the bracelet back in the bag, I leave for the mall but I didn't expect to see him. I smile when he waves.
“Sister-in-law!”
“ Hi, Jeremy,” I greet with the same smile. He looks cute with his dreadlocks tied in the middle and he has a pretty petite girl with black hair and red highlights.
“ I see you're still alive, I thought you were killed or something,” he says casually, the girl with him hits his shoulder playfully, but he pinches her cheek, they look so cute. Are they a couple?
He bends down to whisper something in her ear and she giggles, blushing hard.
“ How have you been?” He brings his attention to me.
" Alright," We discuss a little about stuff and he offers to give me a tour whenever I'm free to which I agree.
“Oh, I forgot to introduce you guys,"
" Daniella is this ... Um.." He trails, realizing he doesn't know my name. I chuckle and extend my hand
" Aviana,"
As we shake hands, Daniella's eyes turn a shade dark of red but she blinks several times and smiles.
" Hello, Aviana, Please excuse me," She breathes, I squint my eyes at her change in attitude suddenly. There was a different kind of energy about her, and I was drawing closer to her.

“ I’m sorry about that,” Mutters Jeremy, still looking in the direction Daniella ran off to.
After exchanging phone numbers with Jeremy, he goes after her. I get the desire to check my bag and the bracelet is glowing red, Oh fuck. What is happening?
I need to ditch this bracelet and city, In order to do that I need money, so I guess I have an answer for Mrs. Smith.
