Ava's Transition

Nikolas POV


I'm looking at the woman next to me on the bed,  she has been sweating nonstop as her body tries to adjust to what's going to be her new normal.
" You were always so innocent, Aviana," I caress her hair softly, her eyes are fixed up on the ceiling, they keep changing from jade to a darker forest green as she shakes vigorously.
Ava is innocent and I hate myself for changing, now if she survives the transition, she will be reborn as a wolf.
It's against the law, I know but my mate will come first, the law the damned.
A small smile makes its way to my lips as memories of us replay in my head.
She's fragile but thinks she's strong. She makes me want to be a better man, I want to be better so I should be more deserving of her, to be worthy of her love.
Aviana has been in this state for days now, why is the transformation taking so bloody long.
" Dada," I turn and look at the small girl at the door, she's so little in her small dress. My daughter is a mixture of her mother and me.
I watch her carefully walk towards me, looking very curious with my nephew, Julian, following closely behind.
" Come, Juju," Amber motions for her cousin to come close. 
My daughter pulls my shirt and I bend down to pick her up in my arms but my nephew moves closer to Ava.
" Julian," I warn him, but he grins going to my now sleeping mate.
" Dad, Juju has superpowers," she whispers in my ear. I look at her confused
" Why are we whispering?" I ask in the same tone.
She shrugs with the cutest smile, I watch as Julian touch Aviana and a white halo rushes through the room. Suddenly my mate stops shaking and Julian looks at us with a satisfied sigh. I put my daughter down.
" I told you she'll be okay, I'm your hero," boasted Julian, my daughter smiled and I ruffle Julian's hair.

Julian's touch seemed to have eased Ava, I have to remember to give him a toy. I look at my woman once more, she looks so pale, I immediately rush to her side once she coughs. Ava opens her eyes slowly but she still seems hazy.
" Hey, wifey," I joke, she smiles painfully. Raising her hand to touch my cheek softly.
" You said, you loved me," She whispers, her voice is weak and she looks tired. I nod.
" When did you know?" She asks, caressing my jaw with her fingers softly
" The truth is that I don't know how, or when," I answer her honestly, what I feel for her is unexplainable, it's beautiful and sweet like her, my Ava, my mate. It's her fragile strength, her beauty, and most of all it's her soul I adore. 
" I'm so sorry, love,"  I know she loved being human, it's what made her different, such a frail thing holding her own against powerful supernatural creatures.
" Nik, what is that?" She asks, looking panicked and jumping out of bed. She looks around the room, holding her head.
" Stop, stop," She chants, holding her head as she sits on the floor. I try to calm her but she's hysterical.
" Ava, it's your wolf!" I growl, she snaps out of it and she looks at me shocked.
" What.. what do you mean," she says as she pulls away from me.
" Make it stop," Ava jolts, her wolf taking control.
" Stop, don't take control," I release my alpha aura, and she trembles, bowing low. I hate myself for this but I'm an alpha and it's the only way she can listen.
Ava hugs her legs and buries her face into her lap
" Leave, please," she cries. I try to hold her but she revolts against me

Aurora invited me for dinner at her resort but I refused, so she used her command as city Luna. 
"It's normal Nik, she's adjusting and it's scary, " My sister says, transition is never easy. Ava has been pushing me away and I don't like it, she locks herself in the room all day.
"Why is she pushing me away?"
"She's just scared you don't feel the same way about her anymore, so she thinks she's making it easier for, trust me I know how she feels," She explains, why would she think that? Does she think I don't like this part of her? I love every part of her.
" Why would she even think that... She's my woman," I say. Xavier laughs and I growl at him
" Now, she's your woman?" He asks, I glare at him.
" Baby, enough now. Don't tease,"
Aurora scolds him gently. He smiles at me and she continues
" What attracted you more to Aviana was her humanity," She reminds me. I know, the little human was so fragile yet resilient but I love her, human or werewolf.
"When I was in transition to hybrid, I had my entire coven with me, I had their love and support yet I felt so scared that things will change for the worst, what I feared most was that my mate will stop loving me." Aurora continues and Xavier places a kiss on her neck and I roll my eyes, showing off.
Getting home, I go straight to her door. I listen for her heartbeat, it's stronger and faster than ever. Knowing she won't open the door even if I knock, I sit down, close my eyes, and listen to hear breath like I've been doing these past three days.
I hear her sit on the other side. We don't talk but it's Serene just like this.
' Has she eaten?' I mind link chef Aaron
' Yes, alpha.' he responds and I close the link and open another for my brother.
' Nik, how are you?' Jeremy asks
' Where are you?' I ask, he sighs before giving me an answer
' At the new dawn pack,' he says, he's the alpha there now, he even changed its name from Red moon pack to new dawn pack.
' and my daughter,' I ask
' She's here, Daniella just put her to bed,'  he says. Jeremy is good to his niece and nephew. He's also a good alpha, he surprised everyone with his growth. But what was more surprising was when he chose Daniella over his real mate. It was not too hard for the girl either because she was already in love with her human fiance, so they parted on good terms.
' How's Ava?' he asks.
' Kiss Amber for me,' I end the mind link. Not wanting to answer his question, I don't know how Ava is. She doesn't talk to me and she's shutting everyone out, including Amber.
' She needs time,' says Alec. I nod. We will give her all the time in the world, this transition is not easy for her.
