CHAPTER 277
Williams's complexion drained instantly.
The general manager’s words and his final glare made it clear that William’s position was in danger.
As the big screen flickered off and the lights illuminated the room once more, the audience realized there would be no further developments. With no choice left, they began to rise from their seats and exit.
Brian’s mother hurried over to Arianna, a look of embarrassment on her face. “I’m so sorry for not recognizing you earlier, Mrs King. I almost acknowledged the wrong person as a saviour. Thank you for saving Brian that day.”
Arianna smiled gently and shook her head.
“There’s no need to apologize. I owe my thanks to Brian as well. If it weren't for him, I wouldn’t have been able to seek justice.”
She affectionately ruffled Brian’s hair.
“Thank you, Brian.”
Brian shook his head rapidly, his expression a mix of disbelief and gratitude. “You’re the one who got the doctor to help me,” he insisted, his voice filled with emotion.
Brian’s mother looked surprised.
“That happened?”
She turned to Arianna, her eyes filled with appreciation, and said, “I really can’t find the words to thank you, Arianna.”
Arianna smiled and said, "Honestly, the doctor wasn’t completely sure it would work, but I thought it was worth trying anyway. I didn't want to get your hopes up if things didn't go as planned. In the end, it was Brian’s strength that helped him break through that psychological barrier.”
Brian's mother hugged him tightly. “That’s my boy!”
“It’s time for us to head back to the hospital. Once Brian has fully recovered, I’ll make sure to visit you again with my husband.”
Arianna nodded.
“Of course. Please drive safely on your way back.”
After Brian left with his mother, Arianna was about to walk away when someone suddenly stepped in front of her, blocking her path.
She looked up to find William standing there, his expression dark and furious.
Arianna’s demeanour remained calm, and she stopped in her tracks. She addressed him casually,
“What can I do for you, Mr. Schuck?”
Williams's fists clenched, a wave of rage threatening to boil over. She had ruined everything!
Holding onto the last thread of his reason, he glared at her and ground out through gritted teeth,
“You’ve destroyed me, Arianna. You can’t just walk away from this. You signed a non-disclosure agreement, and now that you’ve breached it, I’ll make sure to pursue this to the bitter end! Don’t think you can just enjoy your life after what you’ve done to mine!”
Arianna smiled, her eyebrows arching slightly, radiating a beauty that captivated anyone who laid eyes on her, causing hearts to flutter.
Arianna took a step closer to him, her red lips curving into a smirk as she spoke, “You seem quite eager to tangle with the lawyers from the King Group.”
“You…” William’s eyes widened in shock.
“Why the surprise? Did you enjoy rallying public opinion online and painting me as the villain? I think it’s time I show you what it means to wield power.”
Arianna twirled a lock of her hair lazily.
"You're more than welcome to contact my lawyers whenever you want, Mr. Schuck. Now if you'll excuse me..."
With that, she brushed past him, her high heels clicking confidently against the floor, not bothering to look back.
As she approached the door, Harmony stood there, watching her intently.
Arianna walked by without a glance, and while Harmony didn’t try to stop her like William had, she did murmur as she passed.
"Are you feeling happy now?"
Arianna considered just walking away from Harmony, but she found the question amusing, making it seem like Harmony was the one in trouble.
She paused and turned to face Harmony, who was slightly shorter than her. Looking down, Arianna asked,
“Are you finally going to stop pretending?”
At that moment, the two women stood facing each other, completely open and vulnerable. Arianna locked eyes with Harmony and spoke each word clearly:
"If you wish to keep the truth hidden, be careful not to make any mistakes. Anything that isn't rightfully yours can never truly belong to you.
Arianna took a small step closer and continued,
"How can you believe that you can take something that isn't yours and hide it indefinitely without anyone ever finding out?"
Harmony blinked quickly at Arianna's words.
But instead of showing any signs of shame or defeat like before, Harmony kept her composure.
She mirrored Arianna’s words back to her,
"Anything that isn't rightfully yours can never truly belong to you."
A slow smile crept onto her face as she met Arianna's gaze.
“Interesting.”
For the first time, Harmony spoke directly to her.
“Arianna King…”
Her voice dropped to a low, unsettling tone.
"You’re going to regret that."
This was the real Harmony…
At that moment, Harmony's striking yet innocent expression gave off a strange vibe that made Arianna feel uneasy.
A person's real nature is revealed from the inside. Arianna once thought Harmony was friendly and delightful, but her view had shifted.
It was a shame that Harmony was so enchanting. Outer beauty doesn’t matter if the heart is corrupted. Arianna was prepared to defend herself if Harmony decided to confront her. A small smirk formed on her face as she raised her chin.
"Well see about that"
As soon as the words left her lips, they both turned away from each other in perfect synchrony, backs straight, their figures retreating in opposite directions.
As Arianna exited the stadium, a cool breeze sent a shiver through her, prompting her to wrap her arms around herself due to the thinness of her dress.
Suddenly, a black car pulled up in front of her, and the back window rolled down slowly.
Arianna glanced over and was met with the striking face of a man. He looked at her, his eyes glowing with a warm, gentle light.
She was completely taken aback, as she never expected to see Xander—who was supposed to be away on a business trip—appear right in front of her.
