CHAPTER 53

Without hesitation, upon hearing that she might be in trouble, he swiftly booked the next available flight back home, unable to shake off the need to see her.

As soon as he landed, he discovered that Arianna was at the Dark Room and rushed there without delay. It was only when Xander saw her standing before him that he felt a wave of relief.

Arianna was unharmed, yet she still managed to utter such infuriating words.

This woman had an uncanny ability to get under his skin.

Soon, Xander's handsome face darkened. As the emotions in his eyes settled, his tone turned cold and indifferent. "If Grandma sees that you're hurt, she'll blame me for not taking care of you properly. Don't forget our agreement," he reminded her.

Just as she suspected...

Xander didn't hit her to avenge Piper and even took it upon himself to care about her injury because of their agreement.

So, he was planning to get his revenge once Grandma King believed their act?

Arianna lowered her gaze, grateful she wasn't delusional about Xander's feelings. Otherwise, he would undoubtedly mock her again.

Taking a deep breath, Arianna responded with a hint of sarcasm, "Don't worry about it. I remember our agreement well. Since we're supposed to be a loving couple, I'll make sure to hide my injuries and not let Grandma find out. I won't break our deal!"

"That's not enough," Xander replied. "We need to treat your wounds immediately. I'll call the doctor."

After that, Xander took out his phone, ready to call the doctor.

Seeing this, Arianna quickly rushed forward and grabbed his phone. "Don't. Don't call the doctor."

Xander frowned.

"These are just superficial wounds, there's no need to worry. Besides, if the doctor comes this late, Grandma will surely find out about my injuries, and I don't want her to worry," Arianna explained.

When Arianna was sick before, Grandma King had been worried about her all day. Thus, Arianna didn’t want to trouble Grandma King anymore.

Xander met her gaze and remained silent for a few seconds as if suddenly understanding her thoughts. Then, he said,

“You don’t want to call the doctor because you want me to apply the medicine for you?”

Arianna was speechless. How could Xander, with such a high IQ, completely misunderstand her intentions?

He always managed to twist her words!

To prevent Xander from accusing her of trying to seduce him again, Arianna immediately denied,

"No! That’s not it! I don’t want that! This is just a small injury, and I can handle it myself!" Without giving Xander a chance to reply, she quickly ran into the bathroom.

Once inside, she locked the door and pressed her ear against it.

She heard his footsteps moving away, indicating that he had probably left.

That was not surprising at all. As long as Xander was confident that Arianna wouldn’t reveal the truth to Grandma King, he wouldn’t be concerned about her.

A sudden pang of pain hit her heart, and she laughed self-deprecatingly.

Although she had been injured many times before, she never felt pain. Yet, with Xander’s slightest gesture, she would think it hurt.

It was so f*cking pretentious!

Arianna gazed at herself in the mirror, her frustration evident in her reflection. "Arianna, you’re so f*cking pretentious!" she muttered under her breath.

After quickly tending to her wounds, Arianna emerged from the bathroom in her robe, only to find Xander seated on the bed. She froze, puzzled by his unexpected presence. Hadn't he just left? Was he reconsidering his decision to leave, perhaps planning to retaliate?

Xander's gaze met hers, and he gestured for her to approach. Arianna hesitated, unsure of his intentions.

"Come here..."

Xander's gaze lingered on Arianna as he beckoned her forward. "Come here and apply the medicine," he instructed with a touch of firmness in his voice.

Arianna's eyes fell on the medicine kit beside Xander, and she realized he hadn't left as she initially thought. Instead, he had fetched the kit while she was in the bathroom.

Arianna hesitated, contemplating his motives. Was he genuinely concerned for her well-being, or was there a hidden agenda behind his actions?

Perhaps, Xander didn't trust her and was worried about Grandma King noticing her wounds, causing trouble. Arianna hesitantly approached him, offering to handle the medicine herself.

Before she could retract her offer, Xander firmly grasped her wrist, swiftly pulling her onto the bed. With a determined motion, he loosened her bathrobe.

Sensing her reluctance, Xander's expression softened slightly. "I'm not leaving until I'm sure you're properly taken care of," he added, his tone gentler this time.

Arianna clutched her lapel tightly, her frustration evident. “I already said…”

“If you don’t want to disturb Grandma, then silence would be appreciated!” Xander interjected, his tone cold and unwavering.

“Or perhaps you’re deliberately trying to get her attention?”

Every word that left Xander's mouth felt like a calculated attack, fueling Arianna's growing anger. She struggled to contain her emotions, but Xander's sudden grip on her shoulder caught her off guard, pressing her down onto the bed.
