CHAPTER 72

The Dark Room.

After Sheena was released from the police station, she didn't return to Schmidt’s residence. Instead, she went to the bar and sat at the counter.

Usually, she would be there with Piper, so the manager would personally serve them. However, not only was the manager ignoring her that day, but even the bartender was giving her the cold shoulder.

She had to shout a few times to get the bartender’s attention. Soon, the bartender rolled his eyes and walked over. “Ms. Williams, the alcohol that you want is not cheap. Are you sure you can afford it?”

Sheena laughed in anger. “Are you looking down on me? I have the money!”

Sheena reached into her bag and pulled out a card, tossing it forcefully onto the counter. “Give me my drink!”

The bartender swiped her card, only to be met with a message: Insufficient funds.

“You’re broke, yet you still have the nerve to act so high and mighty. You're just Schmidt’s lackey. Do you honestly believe you're some wealthy socialite?” The bartender flung the card back at her with disdain.

“Leave now!”

A lackey!

Those words ignited a fire within Sheena. How dare a mere bartender mock her!

Suddenly, Sheena caught sight of a familiar figure in the dimly lit bar, causing her to freeze in her tracks.

Seconds later, a sly smile played across her lips. With calculated grace, she loosened the collar of her shirt, subtly accentuating her fair and ample bosom. Then, she sauntered over to the man.

Feigning innocence, Sheena pretended to stumble, purposefully falling into the man's waiting arms.

The man extended his arm to steady Sheena. “Careful there.”

Lowering his head, he was taken aback to find Sheena in his embrace. “Sheena, what's going on? Why are you drinking so heavily?”

Sheena feigned confusion, her gaze distant. Then, she narrowed her eyes, encircling her arms around the man's neck and drawing him closer. With an air of intoxication, she leaned in as if attempting to recognize the man's features.

In their proximity, Sheena's fair and ample bosom was impossible to ignore, leaving the man feeling a tightness in his throat as he swallowed nervously.

"Ah, Mr. Schmidt, it's you…" Sheena finally recognized him.

He was Justin Schmidt, Piper's father.

Sheena's expression quickly shifted to one of respect, and she hastily stepped back from Justin's embrace. "I apologize, Mr. Schmidt. I've had too much to drink."

However, her footing was unsteady, and as she attempted to regain her balance, she stumbled once more. Consequently, for the second time, Sheena not only failed to escape Justin's embrace but found herself even closer to him this time.

Sheena innocently nibbled her lower lip and bashfully apologized, “Mr. Schmidt, I'm terribly sorry. I... I can't seem to stand straight anymore..."

Justin, here for socializing and business discussions, had indulged in a few too many drinks. With Sheena's unintentional closeness, a primal desire stirred within him.

Refusing to release his hold on Sheena's slender waist, Justin drew her in closer, unable to resist the magnetic pull between them.

"It's alright. You can't stay here in this state," he said, considering his options. "I have a room upstairs. Let me take you there for some rest."

Sheena looked at him with a hint of gratitude. "Thank you, Mr. Schmidt."

Justin offered his support, guiding Sheena towards the elevator.

Once inside the suite, Justin settled Sheena onto the sofa before heading to the kitchen to fetch a glass of warm water for her.

"Here, have some water," Justin offered, holding out the glass.

Sheena didn't reach for the glass; instead, she looked at Justin with a mixture of confusion and emotion, tears welling in her eyes.

"Why are you crying?" Justin set the glass down and moved to sit beside Sheena, his concern evident. "You seemed fine just a moment ago. What's troubling you?"

"Mr. Schmidt, you're being so kind to me," Sheena replied between sobs. "It's been ages since someone treated me this way."

Upon hearing Sheena's words, Justin's confidence soared, a rare sense of happiness washing over him. Dealing with Violet's domineering nature had become a tiresome routine, making him yearn for genuine affection.

Gently patting Sheena's back, Justin's voice softened as he reassured her, "You're being too kind, dear. It's just a glass of water. You deserve so much more."

Sheena's tears continued to flow, her vulnerability tugging at Justin's heartstrings. "Mr. Schmidt, everyone treats me like I'm beneath them, like I'm not even human. But you... you've shown me kindness, and for that, I'm truly grateful."

Having overheard the rumors about Piper's actions, Justin understood the extent of Sheena's suffering.

Not only had she been unfairly scapegoated, but she also endured relentless ridicule from others. It was no wonder she felt so deeply wounded.

Feeling a surge of compassion, Justin spoke softly, "What Piper did... She truly wronged you, and I apologize on her behalf. We may have spoiled her, but deep down, she's a good-hearted girl."

Pausing for a moment, he added, "Is there any way I can make amends? Please, tell me your wishes. I'll do my best to fulfill them."

Sheena immediately shook her head, dismissing any notion of blame towards Piper. “Mr. Schmidt, you've misunderstood me. I don't hold Piper responsible, and I have no desire for compensation. Everything I did, I did willingly."

Taking a few deep breaths, Sheena wiped away her tears, putting on a facade of strength. "Thank you for lending an ear to my troubles, Mr. Schmidt. I feel better now, so I won't trouble you any further. I'll take my leave."

Without waiting for Justin's response, she rose swiftly and made her exit.

As Sheena attempted to leave, she accidentally stumbled over the coffee table, letting out a startled cry. Just as she teetered on the brink of falling, Justin swiftly reached out, grasping her hand and preventing her descent.

In the momentum of the moment, Sheena found herself pulled into Justin's arms, landing softly on his lap.

"Phew—" Sheena looked up, her eyes wide with alarm. "That was a close call. Thank you, Mr. Schmidt..."

Justin gazed at Sheena's flushed face, her innocence reminiscent of a doe's, her skin radiant and youthful... Her beauty was captivating, stirring something within him...

Justin had never truly noticed Sheena's beauty before, but now, in this moment, it was undeniable.

Uncertain if it was the influence of alcohol or Sheena's tender demeanor that captivated him, Justin held Sheena down as she attempted to rise.

His hand found the back of her neck, pulling her close, and he pressed his lips against hers, tasting the sweetness of her cherry lips.

Initially, Sheena felt a surge of panic, attempting to push Justin away. However, after a few futile attempts, she surrendered, closing her eyes.

Justin, fueled by desire, pressed her against the sofa, consumed by the intensity of the moment...
