CHAPTER 283
After returning with a cup of warm water, Arianna noticed Xander's phone ringing on the desk.
She glanced at the device, hesitating for a moment.
Neither she nor Xander were the type to invade each other's privacy, but Arianna felt a twinge of concern that it could be an urgent work call.
After a brief internal debate, she walked over and peered at the screen.
The caller ID read: Bunny.
That didn’t seem like a business-related contact; it sounded more like a nickname for someone close to him.
Arianna tried to recall the names of Xander's friends, but she couldn't think of anyone with a name that resembled 'Bunny.'
Then the thought crossed her mind: ‘Bunny..Bunny... unny...… Harmuny?’
Harmony?
No that can't be. He doesn’t know Harmony.
Right?
Her heart raced at the idea. It couldn’t be—could it? Surely, she was just letting her imagination run wild.
She had once dropped by his office unexpectedly to see if her suspicions were warranted, but there had been nothing to find. Maybe this was just another case of overthinking.
Arianna bit her lip, staring at the phone screen intently.
The quickest way to quell her worries would be to answer the call. Hearing the caller's voice would clear everything up.
Yet, it felt wrong to pick up Xander’s calls without his permission.
Despite her better judgment, curiosity got the best of her. With her heart pounding, Arianna reached for the phone.
Just as her finger hovered over the screen to answer, the call disconnected.
She couldn’t tell if the abrupt end left her relieved or more captivated.
The sound of approaching footsteps suddenly pulled her out of her thoughts, and she quickly set the phone back down, masking her emotions.
When she looked up, Xander had just entered the room.
Arianna's face brightened, her eyes shining as she greeted him warmly.
“Hey,” she said, a soft smile spreading across her face.
“Hey, yourself,” Xander replied, a playful glint in his eye as he stepped closer. “Wrapped up your meeting, huh?”
“Yeah,” he murmured, moving in and wrapping her in his arms. He brushed a gentle kiss across her forehead, pausing just a moment as his gaze held hers. The warmth in his eyes sent her heartbeat into overdrive.
"Now," Xander said, a playful glint in his eyes,
"What brings my lovely wife here, sneaking up on me with surprises?”
Arianna’s cheeks warmed, and she glanced to the side, flustered. But Xander was quick to reach over, gently tilting her chin so her gaze met his again.
“Did you miss me, Ari?” he asked, his voice soft and affectionate.
Her lips curved into a smile as she looped her arms around his neck, looking up at him with sparkling eyes.
“The general manager from Starlight TV called me this afternoon. I won the competition, and they offered me a position on the network. I accepted! I was hoping... if you’re free, maybe we could celebrate over dinner tonight?”
Xander’s eyes flicked to the clock for a moment, and his brow furrowed.
“Dinner tonight?” he repeated as if weighing his response.
He was meeting Harmony later.
“Yes,” she replied, her voice hopeful.
He let out a breath, glancing away as he hesitated.
“I’ve got another meeting later on.” A flicker of disappointment crossed her face, but she quickly tried to hide it.
“Oh… I understand. Work comes first. We can always do it another time—”
Xander looked back at her, hesitating just a moment before making his decision. Before she could finish, he reached for the phone on his desk, dialling with a determined expression.
“Ronald, let’s postpone tonight’s meeting. I’ve got something urgent to attend to.”
Ronald’s voice sounded surprised on the other end. “An urgent matter? Should I reschedule it for later?”
Xander smiled, barely containing his amusement. “Yes. My wife has just invited me to her celebration dinner.”
Realizing what Xander meant, Ronald chuckled and simply ended the call, used to Xander’s priorities when it came to Arianna.
Turning back to her, Xander met her gaze with a tender look. “No matter what’s on my schedule, I’ll always make time for something as important as this.” He pulled her close, his words softening her disappointment as she felt the warmth of his embrace.
Overcome by his affection, she rose on her toes, giving him a quick kiss that he deepened, holding her close as if wanting to savour every moment together.

Later, as they drove away from the King Group, Arianna watched Xander at the wheel, his gaze steady on the road. A thought had been nagging at her since earlier: who was “Bunny”?
The question hovered in her mind, but she hesitated, unsure if now was the right time to ask. She bit her lip, her curiosity blending with the warmth of the moment, wondering if she should give in and voice her thoughts.
