CHAPTER 339

The bodyguard nodded firmly. “I’ve checked everywhere. There’s nothing unusual.”

Brian leaned back slightly, thinking for a moment before saying,

“Make a call and find out who owns the number we received earlier today.”

Without hesitation, the bodyguard took out his phone and made the call. A minute later, he ended it and turned back to Brian.

“The number has been reported multiple times. It’s linked to telecommunications fraud.”

Telecommunications fraud.

Sarah let out a soft laugh. “Scammers are everywhere these days, aren’t they? Looks like we even almost fell for one.”

The explanation, though unexpected, seemed plausible. Scammers often took advantage of trending topics or heightened emotions to deceive their targets.

Feeling a wave of relief, Sarah exhaled and turned to Brian.

“If that’s all it was, there’s no reason to stay any longer. It’s been a long night, and honestly, I don’t want to spend any more time near… her.” Her uneasy glance flicked toward the restrained figure on the bed.

Brian reached out, giving her hand a reassuring pat.

“Alright, let’s head out.”

As they reached the door, Brian stopped abruptly, a thought striking him. Turning back, his sharp eyes settled on the girl in the bed. He looked to the bodyguard.

Arianna pressed her ear against the door, straining to hear every word. Beside her, Xander crouched, his sharp gaze sweeping the hallway to ensure they remained undetected.

“Stay here and keep watch,” a commanding voice ordered from within the room.

“Don’t let her out of your sight, and make sure no one gets close to her. If anything suspicious happens, let me know immediately.”

Arianna’s heart sank at the words. How was she supposed to get close to the girl now? The surrounding security seemed impenetrable.

The muffled response of the bodyguard reached her ears.

“Understood, Sir.”

Arianna turned to Xander, her expression a mix of frustration and desperation. “How are we going to get to her now?” she whispered.

Xander’s jaw tightened, his eyes narrowing as he processed the situation. “We’ll find a way,” he assured her in a low voice. “We just need to wait for the right moment.”

Arianna leaned back against the wall, her mind racing. "If they’re watching her that closely, any move we make could tip them off. But if we do nothing, we’ll lose her."

Xander’s gaze softened for a moment as he placed a steadying hand on her shoulder.

“We’re not going to lose her. I promise.”

She nodded, drawing strength from his calm resolve. Still, doubt gnawed at her. How could they outmanoeuvre such tight security? And how much time did they have before the girl was moved—or worse?

......

The bodyguard remained in the ward, and Arianna found herself at a crossroads. Staying any longer would only risk exposing her presence, which could lead to the girl being moved somewhere even more secure—or worse. If that happened, Arianna would lose any chance of reaching her. With a heavy heart, she decided to leave.

On the drive back, Arianna feigned sleep, leaning her head against the window. She didn’t want Xander to pick up on her turmoil, but her mind raced with worry.

By the time they reached their home city, the first rays of daylight had already broken across the horizon. The clock was ticking—there were only about twelve hours left. Arianna felt the weight of the situation crushicrashingon her.

Was she really about to stand by and watch as Xander lost everything he had worked so hard for—all because of her?

She clenched her fists, determination surging through her.

No.

She wouldn’t let that happen.

She couldn’t.

Xander had an important meeting that morning, so he drove straight to the King Enterprises headquarters. As they pulled up to the front entrance, he glanced at Arianna, who was still pretending to be asleep.

“We’re here,” he said gently, his voice pulling her out of her thoughts.

Arianna opened her eyes and got out of the car with him, steeling herself for what lay ahead.

Xander moved closer to Arianna, his expression softening as he leaned down to kiss her forehead. Just before their lips could meet, her hand shot out, landing a sharp slap across his face.

The sound echoed loudly, catching the attention of everyone around them.

People turned to watch, and as soon as they recognized Xander and Arianna, their interest grew. One by one, onlookers gathered, pulling out their phones to capture the moment as whispers spread quickly.

Arianna pushed Xander away, her glare icy and her tone biting.

“Did you think I married you out of love, Xander? This was all about revenge. Nothing more.”

She stepped back, her face set and unyielding.

“I’m finished with this charade. I have no interest left. Be a man and give me a divorce.”

Gasps rippled through the crowd, shocked by her declaration.

The notorious marriage of Xander King and Arianna—the subject of endless gossip—was now falling apart in the most dramatic way possible.

It had been two years since Xander had publicly rejected her, a moment etched in everyone’s minds. Now, the situation had flipped, with Arianna delivering a devastating blow right in the middle of the street.

The mark of her hand was visible on Xander’s sculpted face, a clear indication that Arianna had stripped him of his pride without a second thought.

Xander’s face darkened, the fire in his eyes growing stronger as a chilling aura surrounded him. His powerful presence made the onlookers instinctively step back, intimidated by the intensity of his rage.

Ronald arrived just in time, his eyes widening in shock as he took in the scene before him. Without hesitation, he signalled to the security guard at the entrance, motioning for him to come over to Xander’s side.

“Mr. King, are you… are you alright?” Ronald asked quietly, his voice low as he looked at Xander.

Xander’s piercing black eyes remained locked on Arianna with sharp intensity. His lips parted slightly as he spoke in a cold, unwavering tone.

“You’re probably a little out of sorts, Arianna. It’s been a tough few days for you, hasn’t it?”

His gaze flickered briefly toward Ronald as he issued his order.

“Send her away. Let her get some rest.”

His voice carried an unmistakable authority, sharp and commanding.

Ronald nodded without question. He motioned to the two security guards standing nearby, and they quickly stepped toward Arianna.

As anticipated, Arianna began to resist.

“Don’t you dare send me away, Xander, not unless you explain yourself here and now—ugh!”

Before she could finish, Ronald had moved swiftly, covering her mouth with his hand as the two security guards seized her from both sides. They forced her toward the car, struggling as she fought them every step of the way.

Without delay, they managed to push her into the vehicle and lock the doors. Ronald hastily took his place in the driver’s seat, started the engine, and slammed on the accelerator, speeding away from the scene as quickly as possible.
