CHAPTER 348

Brian gave a sharp nod to his bodyguards, and two of them immediately seized Arianna’s arms, yanking her upright with brutal force.

A cold, menacing gleam flashed in Brian’s eyes. “Say your goodbyes, Mrs. King.”

With that, he raised the syringe in his hand, aiming its sharp needle directly at Arianna’s chest. But before he could make his move, a deep, commanding voice echoed from above, smooth yet laced with authority.

"If you so much as lay a finger on her, you'll regret it more than you can imagine."

The room froze in shock. Brian, his wife, and the bodyguards turned their heads toward the sound, startled by the sudden interruption.

Brian’s gaze instinctively shifted upward, and his breath hitched as his eyes landed on a tall, poised figure standing by the railing of the second floor.

The man held a small device in his hand—a video camera—and its lens was focused squarely on the scene below.

The realization hit like a lightning bolt, and Brian’s face drained of colour. Every damning moment had been captured.

The man’s piercing gaze locked onto Brian, and the faintest smirk tugged at his lips. His features, sharp and striking, were unmistakable.

It was Xander King.

Brian felt the cold grip of dread tightening around him.

How long had Xander been there?

How much had he seen?

Desperate to understand, Brian spun back toward Arianna, his voice quivering with barely controlled rage.

“You… Arianna, you planned this! You lured me into this trap—with him!”

It all became clear: they had orchestrated the entire thing, leading him to expose his crimes, provoking him into showing his true colours—and capturing everything.

They had forced Brian to testify against the very crimes he had committed.

They had pushed him to his breaking point, provoking him until he lashed out and attempted to kill them.

And every damning moment had been recorded, creating a mountain of irrefutable evidence against him.

Arianna let out a slow breath, shaking her head.

"Setting you up? That’s what you call it? All I did was anticipate your moves and outmanoeuvre you."

Bet you didn’t see that coming, you vile old man!

Initially, Arianna’s intention had been simple: to bring Renee to see Selby and grant her heartfelt wish. But Brian’s ruthless response—sending people to silence them—had changed everything.

During the subway ride, Arianna had considered every possible outcome. Her time abroad had taught her to think ahead, to prevent problems before they escalated. That was why she had taken precautions in advance.

Avoiding Brian’s reach, however, was only a temporary solution. If Renee was ever to truly break free from her life of captivity, the perpetrators needed to face justice. Only then could she live the peaceful, happy life she deserved.

Exposing Brian’s crimes wasn’t just about Renee’s freedom, though. It was also the only way Selby could understand how deeply Renee had suffered, despite his misguided attempts to shield her.

Only then might he finally accept the truth and step forward to make things right.

It was the best way Arianna could think of to protect Xander and the King Group.

With that in mind, she contacted Xander and worked with him to devise a plan that would give Selby’s parents a taste of their own medicine.

“You… You…” Brian stammered, rendered utterly speechless and unable to refute her.

Sarah, on the other hand, was visibly shaken by Xander’s sudden appearance. Yet, she forced herself to stay composed. Years of enduring gruesome scenes during her medical training had given her a mental resilience far greater than most.

She grasped Brian’s hand tightly, her voice cold and merciless.

“We’ve come too far to let any outsiders here leave alive!”

Brian stared at his wife in disbelief.

Sarah held his gaze, unflinching.

“Our family must stay intact, no matter what it takes.”

The truth would devastate Selby, which was why no one who knew it could be allowed to walk away. For the sake of her husband and son, every outsider in that room had to die—including Xander.

After all, no one outside that room would ever know how Xander met his end. Even if the kings sought vengeance, they might never trace it back to them.

Brian nodded firmly.

"Yes, we must stand together. Why should we fear Xander when we have the upper hand?"

Renee was nothing more than a fragile girl, and Arianna was just a delicate woman. With five trained bodyguards at their disposal, there was no way they couldn’t handle Xander.

Xander, having overheard their confidence, let out a derisive chuckle.

"Oh, so you want to fight? By all means, let’s get started."

He paused, a smirk playing on his lips, before adding casually, "But do me a favour—don’t come at me one by one. It’d just waste my time."

The taunting words lit a fire in the bodyguards, who exchanged wary glances.

Everyone knew Xander was a formidable player in the business world, but there was no reason to believe he had any real strength to back up his arrogance. What could give him the audacity to provoke them?

If his infamous ally, John—the so-called “King of Hell” —had been present, they might have hesitated. But Xander alone? He was as good as defeated in their eyes.

Brian had no intention of debating fairness or tactics. At his subtle signal, the five bodyguards immediately charged up the stairs, ready to take Xander down.

Xander set the camera aside with deliberate calm, then began slowly unbuttoning his cuffs, rolling up his sleeves with a smooth, almost casual grace.

By the time he finished, the five bodyguards had already charged at him, surrounding him.

Xander continued to roll up his sleeves while effortlessly dodging their attacks. Fists flew, but none of them even grazed him.

Renee, watching in a mix of fear and confusion, leaned toward Arianna and whispered,

"D-Does your husband know how to fight? Will he be okay?"

Arianna gave her a reassuring look.

"Don’t worry, he can handle himself. At least, in theory. Although… I've never actually seen him fight before!"

As the heir to the King family, Xander was trained in a variety of skills from a young age, including martial arts by top-tier instructors.

"In theory?" Renee repeated, her anxiety growing.

For a moment, she couldn’t shake the feeling that the three of them were about to meet their end right there. She was ready to accept it, but the thought of dragging innocent people into it made her stomach churn.

Xander finally finished with his sleeves, straightened up. His gaze toward the bodyguards shifted, hardening into something far more dangerous.
