CHAPTER 43
Piper was overjoyed, and she said,
“Sheena, if I marry Xander, I won’t leave you out. I’ll make sure Xander introduces you to his friends, and you can also marry into a wealthy family and become a real-life Cinderella!”
Sheena immediately clenched her fists, a smile playing on her lips, revealing the clear ambitions in her eyes.
She knew well that Piper never treated her as an equal. Whenever Piper felt unhappy, she would hit or curse at Sheena.
The only reason Sheena endured Piper, offering her crafty advice and doing her dirty work, was because she had her own dreams of marrying into an influential family one day.
Piper had grown up spoiled. Not only was she unruly and bossy, but she was also not the brightest person. In a nutshell, there was nothing particularly impressive about her.
Thus, she might not truly capture Xander’s heart. The future was unpredictable, and no one could be certain who the future Mrs. King would be.
Sheena's thoughts were filled with endless possibilities. She had executed her role flawlessly, and if Piper made any mistakes, she would be prepared to take advantage of the situation.
With her aspirations exposed, Sheena smiled at Piper, concealing her true motives beneath a mask of loyalty and appreciation. The competition had only just started..
If Sheena could turn her life around, she would definitely return the humiliation she had suffered from Piper a hundredfold. But she knew it wasn’t the right time for revenge—yet.
Sheena lowered her gaze, concealing her true emotions. She then plastered a fawning smile on her face and said,
"Piper, you treat me so well. No matter what you want me to do, I’ll do it wholeheartedly!"
“Good,” Piper nodded approvingly. “You can transfer the money now.”
Sheena knew exactly what Piper meant. With a curt nod, she responded,
“I’ll transfer the money to Nate immediately!”
Piper leaned back, satisfied, while Sheena quickly took out her phone to make the transaction. As she typed, she couldn't help but think of the day when she would no longer be under Piper’s thumb.
The day she would stand on her own, no longer needing to play the sycophant.
Sheena's thoughts wandered to Nate, the shady producer who had orchestrated the whole scheme against Arianna.
She couldn’t help but feel a twinge of guilt for the part she played in ruining another woman’s life, but she buried that feeling deep inside. For now, she had to focus on the task at hand.
Sheena glanced up at Piper, confirming the transfer.
"The money will be sent to Nate shortly," she informed. Piper's eyes widened with a pleased expression.
"Excellent. By ensuring this, we can guarantee that everything goes according to plan. Anyone who tries to come between me and Xander will face the consequences just like Arianna," Piper declared.
Sheena agreed, strategizing her next steps silently. She was already plotting her own ascent to power, while Piper relished in her temporary victory.
She decided to bide her time, serving as Piper's loyal ally until the perfect moment presented itself.
In the meantime, Sheena maintained her composure and acted as Piper's faithful companion. She silently vowed to herself that one day, the tables would turn as she observed Piper revel in her success.
At the King Group’s foreign branch, Ronald had been accompanying Xander on a business trip abroad.
Unfortunately, due to the time difference, Ronald only discovered the viral incident involving Arianna after it had already gained significant traction back home.
However, there was an important meeting scheduled early in the morning with many influential people in attendance. As a result, Ronald hesitated to bring the matter to Xander's attention.
Despite Xander being married to Arianna, Ronald was unsure of Xander’s feelings towards her.
What if Xander didn’t care about Arianna at all?
Reporting this issue might not only seem irrelevant but could also lead to severe consequences for Ronald. He might find himself packing his bags and being fired on the spot.
The risk was too high for Ronald to take!
The meeting lasted the entire morning, and by the time it concluded, it was already one o'clock in the afternoon.
Ronald followed behind Xander as they walked into the office. After giving it some thought, Ronald cleared his throat and said, "Mr. King, Ms. Johnson... she's in trouble."
Xander, feeling exhausted from the long meeting, had leaned back in his chair with his eyes closed. Upon hearing Ronald’s words, his eyes snapped open. He fixed Ronald with a burning gaze and commanded,
"What do you mean she's in trouble? Tell me exactly what happened!"
Although Xander's voice was calm, Ronald felt a sudden chill down his spine.
He took a deep breath, aware of the gravity of the situation, and began to report the incident in detail.
As Ronald spoke, he pulled out his phone and showed Xander the obscene pictures and videos.
Xander's gaze fell on the screen, and a dark, murderous intent quickly filled his eyes. Without a word, he snatched the phone from Ronald's hand and, in a fit of rage, slammed it on the floor.
The phone shattered into pieces under the force of his blow.
