Chapter 39

LUTHER'S POV

"Why are you here!" He exclaimed

"let's use our words, I told you, I'm here to help you"

"Bullshit! That's the same fucking thing he said to me, Y'all don't help no one, you take advantage of them".

"I'm serious, please".

He smirks "I don't fucking believe you, you are all the same".

"So what? Instead of believing me you rather shoot me? What good those that do for you?"

He shakes his head "I was in the fucking Military, I've gone through things I shouldn't even have gone through at this age, I have seen things I shouldn't see, you think going to prison is something that'll scare me?".

"What of your grandmother then?".He  doesn't say anything

"I'm clean, I swore to you, I can help you, and if I ever double-cross you, you can shoot me". He hesitates a little before eventually giving in, he puts the gun away 

I sigh out of relief "Thank you".

"So, what do you want to know so bad?".

I sit on his bed "Everything, how you came across Jesse, how you got involved with him, things you heard, things he made you do".

"In that case, you better make comfortable". We suddenly hear a knock on the door." Who is it?". 

"Is my dear, brought some snacks for you and your friend". Andrew quickly opens the door for his grandma and takes the tray she was holding "Thanks granny". 

"You're welcome dear, how would your friend like to spend the night here? It's already late". 

I look at my phone and see the time was already 9 pm, shit and I didn't take the car with me, Andrew gives me a look

I laugh nervously "it's okay, I'll find my way home, it's not far from here". It's fucking far

"Okay then, I'll be on my way". We watch her walk away, Andrew closes the door

"I first met Mr Harrison while I was still in the military, I was nothing but a mere errand boy, but I still trained along with the other soldiers. I practically grew up in the military, they were my family. One day during our training I was told some rich guy was looking for someone to take care of some dirty work, I didn't agree to it at first, his offer increased each meeting-".

" Why was he so particular about you though?".

He sighs "I was never enlisted, I was never qualified or anything, I was an orphan, my father died during one of the battles my mother died of a heart attack hearing the news, the only surviving family I had to take me in was my grandmother and of course knowing her condition there was no way she could take care of me, so the military took me in".

" I'm so sorry".

He shakes his head "Dont be, I was like 5 when it happened, the last time Mr Harrison came by I thought he was just going to try to bribe me again, but to my surprise, it was blackmail. He told me he was going to report me and that will put the commander in chief and the other soldiers in trouble, and that's how it all went down, I left the military afterwards, I came to live with my grandmother".

My legs suddenly feel cramped, I use my hands to massage them " Keep going don't mind me, tell me jobs he made you do".

"Well he mostly made me spy on people and take pictures of things that'll put them in trouble, but there was a time he asked me to do something weird".My eyes widen "About two years ago, he told me to look for Ammonia".

" Ammonia? What is he doing with that".

He shurgs "I didn't know, I just did what he asked, he told me to go to Chad's residence. I will never forget that night, it was raining heavily, The security and help all left their posts, they were suddenly out of sight just like I was told. I enter the living room, my job was simple, it was to pour the Ammonia on the floor, I suddenly hit a stool and the lamp on it fall to the ground, an old man rushes down the stairs, he spots me, I try running away but he grabs a hold of me, I manage to escape his grip, I decided to run away, I take the Ammonia and was about to escape when I bump into someone, the person had a mask on like me, the person asked for the Ammonia, I hand It to the person, I immediately left, a few weeks later I heard the man, Mr Chad had died and his daughter was blamed for it, I decided to quit working for Mr Harrison, he contacted me two years later and used by grandmothers illness against me".

I clench my fist "Do you remember anything about the person who was left with Mr Chad after you?".

" Not really, it was night and rainy and dark we both had masks on".

"Do you know anything about Jesse's business with the Minister?".

"They are looking for something, something powerful, that will give them control over businesses, they believe is with Mr Chad's daughter".

That day, the day Violet ran to my room, she mentioned someone was in hers, I guess one of Jesse's men, they were searching for it. I dont Mr chad ever mentioned anything like that.

" Thank you, Andrew, I'll be in touch". I stand up from his bed

"Woah, what about me? You swore man".

I smile " You are one smart kid, like I said I'd be in touch". I give him a card "This is my number, give me a ring".

He looks at my business card " You work in a fucking pizza place?".

I clear my throat "it's complicated, I own it, by the way, just give me a call so we'll keep in touch, when I give you my word I always keep it no matter what". I suddenly imagined Lana in front of me giving me a look, ah chills.

"Okay then, you sure you won't stay here tonight?" He asked concerned

I sigh "if I do, I'm afraid my wife wouldn't be happy with me, well, soon to be"

"Oh you about to get married, that's cool....hey, man, that lady, Mr Chad's daughter, is she okay? I heard she miraculously came back to life, I feel really bad because I feel partially responsible for my father's death".

I walk up to him and put my hand on his shoulder "You're a good kid, it wasn't your fault, she wouldn't think that either, and she's the one I'm about to get married to even". 

He gasps "No way, dude...no wonder Jesse ask me to take your picture but wait, what were you doing with that lady in the bar?".

I nervously laugh " Will you look at the time, I better be off, see ya". I run out of the house.


I better find a way home, who should I call. it's fucking cold here. I bring out my phone from my pocket, I dial Leo's number "Hey Leo, can you come to pick me up?...yea I'll send you my location". I sigh, I'm pretty sure Violet is fast asleep.


   




                       


                       VIOLET

I pace around the living room

" You should calm down young lady".Amanda said as she yawns 

"Calm down, it's 11 pm and Luther is nowhere to be found, where would he go right after he was almost arrested by the police!".

Amanda scoffs "Pretty sure to that baby mama of his".

I stop " You think?".

"Uh-huh, I tell you, men are not to be trusted isn't that so Kat".

Kat responds nervously " uhmm well, maybe he had an emergency since he didn't tell any of us where he went".

Amanda asks with a sass tone "Are you with the ladies Kat? Why are you taking the man's side?".

" sorry".

I grunt"we aren't even married yet and he already does this!".

Amanda whines " I've told you many times to call off the wedding!".

"No, I can't".

" Then go to bed already.....we are all tired, at least I'm tired and I can't go to bed if you aren't in your room at least. This is why I wanted to work from home". 

I shake my head, when did Amanda is free now. I kind of like this side of her

"I have to go out ma'am". Leo said

" By this time? Where if I may ask?".

"To get Mr Benjamin-kim".

My eyes widen "He called you?".

"Yes, seems like he's stranded, I want to go pick him up now".

" Good then, I'm coming with you".

"What!" Amanda exclaimed, "No, go to bed!".

" I had enough rest today, why can't I go?".

"It means I have to go with you, and I don't have that kind of strength".

"You can stay home, I will go with Leo, he will keep me safe don't worry".

Amanda groans " No...still-nevermind just go, I'm going to bed".

I smile brightly 





                      LUTHER'S POV

Come on...come on... it's freezing. I suddenly spot the car, I smile.

The car parks in front of me, I was open to getting in the front seat when the window of the back seat suddenly opens

"Hi, daddy!" Violet exclaimed excitedly waving at me

I awkwardly wave back "Hi-hi" what is she doing here?.


I was sited next to Violet in the back seat "Leo, why did you bring Violet with you?".

"Forgive me, she insisted she tags along".

I sigh " Violet you should be in bed".

"And you should be home, you didn't call me or let anyone know where you were going, do you have any idea how worried I was?". She suddenly gasps and covers her amount.

I smile at her "You were worried?"

"Yes, I mean no, yes, yea we all were, Amanda kept pacing around and wondering where you were".she folds her arms

I scoffed" You're cute".

"Huh?". I just smile.

Violet is a Precious gem and she needs someone who realises that so they'd take good care of her, I'm going to keep the promise I made to her and I'm going to make everyone who hurt her pay.

We finally reach the house, Violet was already fast asleep with her head resting on my shoulders, I carefully carry her into the house, and lay her on her bed, I use her duvet to cover her properly.

Looking at her she looks like an angel, I use my fingers to gently trace my face, beautiful, I was about to leave when I hear her say

"Don't go, no, please don't go".

I whisper " What's wrong? Nightmare?". 

"Father, no, no, come back.........the baby, his crying, please, don't leave me, don't leave me all alone". I take her hand

"I'm here, I'm not going anywhere". 

Her eyes suddenly open, it catches me by surprise, she looks directly at me, she draws me close till our nose touches, she whispers "Dont go". Our lips suddenly meet each other, Violet kisses me by surprise, and my eyes widen.
