Chapter 56

LUTHER'S POV

*FLASHBACK*

"Big mouth? I don't understand, what lie?". She asked curiously

"What I'm about to tell you Violet can't know about it, I will be the one to tell her myself".

She raises an eyebrow "Okay? ". She said with a confused tone and facial expression

I let out a sigh "You are going to tell the board that you know where Mr Chad hid his treasure".

Her eyes widen "What treasure? What are you talking about?". She asks to whisper

"You just have to trust me, if anyone asks just simply tell them Violet told you, and if they ask what it is, just beat around the bush".

"And this is going get them off my back?". I nod "it's not like I have evidence that my uncle was the one who sent the threat, going to the police wouldn't do me any good, so I'll just do what you told me, but, what is the treasure? if I may ask and why would telling them that conserve me?".

" Truth is, I don't know either, but they're a lot of people obsessed with it, they're willing to kiss the feet of whoever has it, they're willing to kill to have a glance".

"Right". She gets on her feet "Thanks for that, I'll be on my way. I guess this conversation is just between us then?". I nod "Goodbye then". She leaves





______________ Amanda arranges food and plates on a tray

"I messed up this time didn't I?". I asked scratching the back of my head

Amanda gives me a side eye and sighs "You're the one who spent time with another woman". She shurgs

"Nothing happened, we strictly discussed business".

" Right.....and that's why you denied it the first time".

I aggressively pace around with my hands on my hips, Amanda just arranges Violet's dinner not minding me, I lower my voice as I stand close to her "it's not like that, I promise, I just panicked okay? I didn't want her to think otherwise".

She scoffs "Well you did a great job handling that". She said sarcastically

I groan " Should I just apologise? I don't want her getting the wrong idea".

Amanda carries the tray and hands it to me "Here, go serve her dinner and try to talk things out".


I wear a bright smile " Thank you so much Amanda you're truly the best".

I take the tray and go up the stairs, Lisa's eyes were glued to the tv so she didn't have a clue about what was going on.

I knock on the door, I don't say anything so she wouldn't know it's me "Come in!". She exclaimed, I carefully open the door and tiptoe towards her, as soon as I got close to her, her eyes widened with the realisation "Luther?". She asked with an angry tone in her voice.

"I brought you dinner". I respond sheepishly.

" Just drop the tray and go away". I carefully place the tray on her lap, she adjusts herself

"Look Violet, I'm sorry, I didn't mean to lie to you, I-truth is Lexi did come but we only talked business I'm sorry".

Violet sighs "it's fine, I just hated the fact you denied it, I was lied to once, and that didn't end well, I guess I'm scared everything will just end up repeating itself".

" I'm sorry, I didn't even realise. Even if our marriage might not be what it seems, I promise I'll remain faithful, as long as we both have these rings on, okay?".

She smiles "Thanks Luther".

"You're welcome sweetheart. Hey, let me feed you". I pick up the spoon on the tray

"No, you don't have to I can eat myself".

" Come on...I insist, I'm your husband after all". She hesitates a little bit before she gives in, I smile as I feed her. it reminds me of old times, feels like yesterday she was just a little girl, where did all that time go?


As soon as she was done, I go down the stairs to drop the dishes, I see Leo on the dining table drinking some kind of energy drink. I drop the tray on the sink, I was about to leave when he

"Mr Benjamin-Kim?".

I force a smile "Can I help you with anything?".

" What exactly were you doing with Lexi?".

I shrug "Thats none of your business".

He scoffs and takes a step close to me " I warned you not to hurt Violet".

I wear a smirk "What are you going to do about it? beat me up?".

He clenches his fist "I just might, just because your marriage isn't a real one doesn't make it right to mess around, you've already done it once, are you yet to learn your lesson? or will having another child outside do it?". Without thinking twice I punch him across his face, and he instantly falls to the ground.

" You bastard!". I exclaimed, I clench both my fists, he just stayed on the floor, I think I might've broken his jaw. I walk away before I do something I might regret.

That kid had it coming, the only reason I keep him around is that he knows about our secret.

I was about to enter the bedroom when my phone suddenly rings, I pick it up, and I hear a familiar voice.

"I'm outside your house". The call ends, it's Gary.

I go outside and see him in a black leather jacket, smoking the cigar he had in between his fingers.

He doesn't notice when I approach him, I hit the back of his head to get his attention, and he starts shocking " Shit! I'm so sorry!". I start patting his back

"You dumbass!" He yells at me with his red teary eyes, I instantly start laughing

"I'm sorry". He threatens to hit me, he lets out a sigh

"Did you like my gift?".

" What gift?".

"All the info about I had on my boss, gave a file to that kid you have under your wings now".

I scoff "So that was you? to think he was acting all cool".

He laughs "Yea.." I notice his pessimistic look

"Everything okay with you?".

He smiles "Yea, don't worry about me okay?".

" Look, you don't have to keep risking your life helping me".

He shakes his head "Nah it's really fine". He draws his nose.

I sigh, there are some things wrong "Come on, tell me what's going on?".

" It's all good I promise, I just came to check on you okay?". I put my hand on his shoulder

"Gary, you can tell me anything, don't try to hide anything from me okay? if you have a problem open up".

His lips start shivering " I-i need your help men, I don't know what to do". He instantly breaks down, crying like a baby.



It hurts my heart to see him like this
