Chapter 48

LUTHER POV

Leo drives us to Zara's residence. We get down from the car, Violet and I walk forward, and I ring her doorbell.

"Who is it?". A threatening voice asks from a microphone, I see a small camera and put my face in front of the camera 

I gulp "We are from Chad's, I'm Luther Benjamin-Kim and Violet Anthony Chad". Violet decided to keep her last name when we got married

"Give me a second then". I look at Violet who stood awkwardly, she's nervous, I've heard a lot about chairwoman Zara and she's a tough nut, first day of work and I'm already, working.

Suddenly the voice comes back "Come in". We hear a lot of locks, and the big front door slowly opens.

We enter the house and it's bigger on the inside, it looks like those rich Indian houses.

" The chairwoman is in the greenhouse, I shall escort you both". The big tall bald guard said with his threatening voice.

"Okay". Violet mutters I take her hand and we both follow the guard.

The greenhouse is beautiful, has a lot of lovely plants and the butterflies made it even more beautiful "Wow"

Violet takes in a deep breath "That smells lovely".

" Glad you like it". An older woman said with an apron wrapped around her waist holding a watering can with a fishing hat on her head.

"Chairwoman Zara". I said eventually bowing, Violet does the same.

" Welcome, both of you, is nice to see newlyweds together". She said with a smile 

"I didn't know you were at the wedding". Violet spoke out " I do remember you during the engagement party".

"I'm impressed". She walks towards a plant and waters it "So, why do come to find me, in my home".

I clear my throat " Ma'am, we noticed that you don't partner with us anymore, so we would really like to know what exactly happened".

"I've been visited more than 10times by people in your company, but not one time was I ever asked why I stopped partnering instead they try to woo me with money, like I don't have enough of that".

I laugh nervousky "Well, you can never really have enough that's one thing about money ".

She chuckles "You're a sharp one, but don't think I'll give in so easily".

Violet speaks out " You said you knew my father, but I don't think he has ever mentioned you ma'am".

She drops the water can on the floor "Your father and I go way back, I knew him before he had you, I did him a lot of favours back in the day, we had each other backs, I understand why you've never heard of me, because he scared I might reveal something that I shouldn't".

Violet's eyes widen "What's that?"

Chairwoman Zara walks up to Violet and places her hand on her shoulder "Dont worry yourself about that dear. When I heard of you and your fathers passing, I immediately withdrew from the company, I still have my shares though, It warms my heart to see you alive and well, especially with a handsome young man like Benjamin-Kim".

Violet smiles "Thank you"

Chairwoman Zara looks at her eyes with sympathy "Tell you what, I'll like to see if you really are your father's daughter, if you're able to impress me during your run as president I will come back, I heard of your little race, I'll like to see what you're capable of".







___________ " Well that was a waste of time". I groan stretching at the back seat with Violet by my side

"I wouldn't say so, I think we achieved something". 

" I guess".

Violet ask worriedly "Do you know what my father is hiding from me Luther?".

I instantly bite the tip of my finger, I laugh nervously "Why will your father hide anything from you? It might not even be that serious, the chairwoman obviously said not to worry".

Violet sighs "How can I not? What if its something serious".

" You don't have to worry about that okay? Your father loved you and I'm sure whatever it is, its for your own good so don't worry about that okay?". She turns away leaning against the window.

I noticed Leo peeping, he better keep his eyes on the road if he doesn't want my fingers in them.

We reach the company, Violet and I enter with Leo in front of us, the other guards are guiding the office.

We reach our office and to my surprise I see a man with rich grey hair standing in front 

"Who?". I ask

" I'm Victor Hugo, I'm a close friend of Mr chad and an executive here".

Violet gasp as she wears an elated expression "Of course please come in".

I go grab three cups of coffee for ourselves and guest, I place it on the table and hand Violet hers.

" Thank you Luther". She takes a sip "So Mr Victor, is there any reason for your visit?".

"I just wanted to see if you're okay that's all, I'm truly sorry I haven't been able to come see you".

Violet shakes her head " It's fine too don't have to worry about that".

"If you need anything,I'm always here for you, think of me like your father, okay?".

"Of course". He takes her hand, I noticed he wore a little a smirk.

" How's your first day so far?".

She smiles "It's been great thank you". 

He stands up "Well I better get back to work". He takes his coffee "I'll make sure to put in a good word for you okay?".

" That will be lovely,thank you". He nods with a smile on his face, he was about leaving when he suddenly stops 

"Uhm, Violet". Violet turns to him

" Yes?".

"Did your father ever mention anything about,I don't know, something special? Like an information he asked you to keep?".

" I do not recall no". He leaves 

My suspicion was right, what is this thing they are after.

"Violet excuse me". I run out if the office. Leo suddenly blocks me " What the fuck, get out of my way!". I loose sight of him, I push Leo "What's your problem?".

He scoffs " My problem?, what's yours?".

I wear a confuse expression "What do you mean?".

"You are hiding something from Violet".

" No, I'm not".

"You are, I read your face".

I roll my eyeballs "That's none of your business". I try walking away but he stops me "What are you doing right now?".

" You better not hurt Violet".

I laugh "Dont you think you're taking your job too personal?".

He takes a step closer to me and glares "If you ever do the slightest thing to hurt her, I will personally take care of you"He walks away

I laugh maniacally, what did that kid just do?.
