Chapter 55

LUTHER'S POV

We really are in the tigers' den. We suddenly hear a knock on the door

"Get rid of this stuff ASAP!". I exclaimed, Andrew carries the board and keeps it in the little store room in the office.

He comes back out and opens the door, to our surprise it was "Lexi? I wasn't expecting you today".

I noticed she was a little shaky "Mr Benjamin-kim". She said with an odd voice

" Everything okay with you?". I ask concerned. She nods but her shivering says otherwise "Andrew assist her to the couch". Andrew wraps his hands around her and carefully leads her to the couch, I take a seat next to her " Leave us". I said to Andrew who bows a little before leaving us "Are you okay?". She raises her eyes and I see her teary red eyes. She suddenly grabs my hands.

"You have to help me". My eyes widen

" What's going on exactly?". I ask curiously

I notice her clench her fist, her lips shiver as she tries to speak "I feel someone's messing with me".

"What do you mean?".

She grabs my hand catching me by surprise "Can I really trust you?".

" You have my word".

She gulps "The truth is, my brother wasn't the only one involved with drugs, you see when I was 16 years old". She sighs and a tear roll down her cheek "There was this club me and my friend used to go to using a fake ID, I was young and stupid back then. Anyway, they're photos of me, I don't even know how they got that or how mu photo was taken back then".

" So they're using it to threaten you huh?".

"If I don't step down, they will release it to the public and my reputation". She bends her head using her hands as a rest

I look at the roof, rich people's business sure is hard " Okay, then why don't you just let the release it?".

She slowly raises her head "What are you talking about?".

" They should release the fucking picture, your reputation isn't the only one that would be ruined, the companies too".

She draws her nose "Even so, this just proves to the board that I'm no fit for the position".

" Lexi, when I asked you to partner with us, what did I tell you?".

"That I should trust you".

I chuckle "No, I told you, you were badass, seeing you like this is making me think otherwise". She rolls her eyes.

" Things are different now, it's personal and real, I fear I'm not the only one they'll come for, they might come for people around me".

I scoffed "You have friends?".

" No I don't, but I do have a father". She sighs "The pictures weren't the only thing that was delivered to me, there was a note too".

" Well this is, disturbing, what did the note say?".

She brings out her black purse from her bag and opens it handing me a piece of paper.

I raise an eyebrow as I take it from her, my eyes widen "STEP DOWN OR ELSE".

" That is a threat right?".

"It is".

She gets on her feet " Shit! I knew those assholes were going to come for me but I just assumed it was after my father died, but it seems like they might just fasten that for him".

"Is not like we can report anyone, we don't even have evidence". I give her the paper back " Lexi I wish I knew what to do, you just need to keep your head high".

She wore an ugly frown on her face"What good will that do?". I understand her hurt, but adding her problems to the list might make things more complicated, but Lexi is someone we need.

"What if we fight fire by fire?".

" I don't understand".

I smirk "Lexi how would you like to play a little game called big mouth?".

"You're confusing me, what's that?".

" It's simple, you just need to tell a little white lie so they can all leave you alone and maybe even side you".

"What do you have in mind?".





VIOLET'S POV

Today has been the best day so far, hanging out with Lisa made me happy. We are all at the dining table having dinner.

" Violet why haven't you touched your food yet?". Amanda asks curiously.

"I'm waiting for Luther to come home first".

" Oooh.... You can't eat without your sweetie pie, no wonder you have been asking me to check my phone constantly for his calls, I'm sure you're worried sick without-". I hit the table with my hands to stop Amanda from yapping, this talk might make Lisa feel uncomfortable.

"Thank you, dinner was delicious". Lisa said taking her plates to the kitchen

" Are you sure that is enough, would you like more?". I ask concerned

"No thank you, I'm full". She replied politely.

" Don't hesitate to ask for anything okay?".

Leo leans towards me "Ma'am I think you're being too obvious".

" am I?". I whisper to him

"Yes". He bluntly whispers back. I hear Lisa's footsteps she was stepping out of the kitchen

" Yay! My favourite show is on". She exclaimed excitedly.

I smile standing up from the table "What show is that?". I walk toward her

" The one we were seeing when you stayed with us, where there's a witch and werewolf". I take a seat next to her

"I remember". I start hearing voices on the television

" Are you sure I'm the Queen?". A female voice asks

"Yes and I was sent here to take you back, so you'll save us all from an evil goblin". A male voice responded.

" What's going on now?". I ask curiously

"Rita is the chosen one because she's the only hybrid with royal blood from both sides".I need to stop asking

I hear the front door open "I'm home!" Luther announced.

"Daddy!". Lisa exclaimed

" Hey there kiddo, had fun today?".

"Uh huh, Violet took me to this beautiful restaurant and the mall, she bought me so much ballet stuff".

" That's great!". He exclaimed with excitement. Hearing them talk put a smile on my face, their bond reminds me of that of myself and my father.

"Hey Violet, hope you're okay. How's your foot?" Luther asked concerned

"It's all better. Come have dinner". I get up from the chair and walked toward the kitchen direction

" What's for dinner?".

"Chicken stew and rice". Amanda replies bluntly.

" To think I left my Asian mum's house only to be served rice". Luther mutters

I hold my laugh

"What did you say?". Amanda asks kind of annoyed.

Luther responded with an awkward high pitched voice" Nothing, nothing. Thank you, I will enjoy my food".

Amanda blurts out"I'm mad at you, Violet hasn't had dinner yet cause she's been waiting for you".

"Really?". Luther asks worriedly "You were waiting for me?". I don't say anything, instead, I smile sheepishly. I suddenly notice a smell around him

" What took your time?". I ask curiously

"Uhmm nothing, just work". He denied

" You were with a woman". He doesn't say anything "Her smell is all over you".

" Uhmm, well, I mean, it's not like that".

I take a step closer to him, I sniff him "That smell, is so familiar". My eyes widen " Lexi".

Amanda gasps "How dare you!".

" No it's not like that, we were just talking business stuff". He explains panicking

"Then why did you deny it?". I ask rather blunt.

"It's complicated".

" Amanda, bring my food upstairs, I've suddenly lost my appetite". I angrily walk away.
