Chapter 58

LUTHER'S POV

"Okay dad, I'm off to school!". Lisa yells from downstairs

"Have fun honey!". I yell back, she follows Alvin who was to drop her off.

I was finally able to knot my tie, I stare at the mirror admiring my reflection "I look good". I put a smile on my face

" Are you ready?"Violet asks walking in on me

"Yes, I am". I gasped looking at her outfit "You look great".

She smiles at me "Thank you, you look good as well".

I give her a look "What do you mean? You can't see me".

She giggles " I can tell, you smell nice".

"That I will agree with you, come on let's go". I take her hand and we both go downstairs together.

We see Amanda and Leo in the living room they both stand up to greet us " Good morning".Amanda said with a bright smile

"Good morning Amanda". Violet replies " Are we ready to go Leo?".

Leo just stares at me as he responds to Violet "Yes ma'am".

" Alright then, Amanda try not to miss us too much okay?"

Amanda scoffs "Trust me, I won't ". Violet giggles

We get in the car and Leo drives us

I walk with Violet in my arms to my office, all eyes were on us, I should be used to it by now, Violet might not notice because she's blind but I do, and they make it very obvious.

We enter the office, I see Andrew on my seat "Boss!" He exclaims excitedly waving at me with a bright smile

This kid... "Who's voice is that?" Violet ask curious

"That's Andrew he's my....uhmm...person, like my own guard who I send on an errand".

" He sounds pretty young though".

I laugh nervously "Yea....thats because he is".

Her eyes widen "Oh". Andrew walks up to Violet.

" I'm Andrew". He said stretching his hand out

"Violet, it's a pleasure to meet you"Violet stretches her hand and Andrew immediately grabs a hold of it and shakes it

I clap my hand "Good, now that we all know each other, let's just get to work" I give Andrew the get-out signal with my head

He awkwardly yawns "Jeez I have to go...guard the door, later". He walks out. That kid...

Violet let out a sigh "let's get to work then, you mentioned Lexi came by yesterday, what did she want, what did y'all talk about?".

I chuckle a little bit What did we talk about....we talked about business...she asked about her benefits".nice save.

Violet nods "That makes sense, I will have to get back at her on that, thanks again for your help Luther".

" Violet, can I ask you something?".

"Of course".

I sigh "Did your father ever give you something special? Something very important, like treasure ".

She shakes her head "No, the only precious thing father has ever given me was mothers necklace".

My eyes widen "And this necklace is with you right?".

" Of course, I kept it somewhere very safe, I wore it during our engagement".

I suddenly remember "Of course, other than that, there's nothing else right?".

She shakes her head "Nope".

I walk close to her and place my hand on her shoulder "You have to be very careful, don't tell anyone what you've just told me, not the guards not Amanda, do you hear me?".

She gulps "Is everything okay? Why do people keep asking me this question". I don't say anything. "Are you hiding something from me, Luther?".

At this point I knew I had to tell another lie, I don't want Violet to worry, she should just focus on taking back her father's company, while I'll try to handle the rest as smoothly as possible "Of course not, I'm just worried because I noticed it too".

" Oh alright then, let's just focus on today's work okay?". I smile at her





JESSE'S POV


"You didn't go to the office today?". Benita asked surprised to see me at home.

" I didn't, there's nothing for me to do". A maid brings my food and puts it on the table "Come have breakfast with me".

Benita smiles as she joins me at the table "I can't remember the last time we had dinner like this".

"Me neither". I feed her a spoon of porridge "How's that?".

She talks with her mouth full" It's yummy" she swallows "I will be going baby shopping soon with your mother, just get a few things".

" Shouldn't you wait for the gender reveal?".

She shurgs "Just a few things mustn't wait for the gender reveal to get those".

I let out a sigh "If you say so then". I start filling my mouth with porridge

"I still remember your gender reveal party with Violet, wasn't it a boy?".

I instantly drop my spoon, I glare at her "Why bring that up all of a sudden?".

She shurgs "I just felt like reminding you, but it's nothing to be upset about, you'll have a better child soon, one without a disability". She starts laughing

I stand up "I've lost my appetite". I walk away.

Anytime I remember my baby with Violet, it breaks my heart, I didn't even get to name my son, didn't get to see him, feel him or even touch him, he was gone way too soon.

I enter our bedroom, and Benita suddenly enters "Are you mad?". She asks wearing a maniacal smile

"I don't have time for this, I don't have time for you".

She laughs "Don't be mad okay?". She suddenly kisses her teeth "Babe, do you know one thing that has been bothering me".

I eye her "What?".

"When we buried violet, didn't we bury her body?".

My eyes widen, and I stutter "That-that isn't important right now".

"I think it is important, there were two bodies that day, the driver and Violet. The body was destroyed to the extent it wasn't recognized that we immediately believed it was violet, we didn't show it to the press purposely and showed just the ID cane to keep the disturbing image from the media, on the day Violet showed up surprising us she attacked you by asking, was it just my ID cane you buried and announced me dead? Surely she doesn't think we are that dumb, I mean you are but as for me". I roll my eyes at her "You purposely admitted to it to avoid more claims because once people find out the body that was found and buried wasn't violet the police and FBI might get involved, because they would want to find out who that person is and properly investigate the accident, no bribing your way out of that one.".

"You think I don't know that? That doesn't matter Benita so far we are the persons who know about it". I kick my wardrobe out of anger "Darn it!"...

She chuckles "Things just keep getting interesting, anyway I better get ready, it's baby shopping time". Benita leaves the room.
