Chapter 12
It's been two weeks, the messages hadn't stopped. She hadn't stopped receiving them. She would rather not stop receiving them because she liked the way each message was composed. Perhaps it was who composed it she liked, but would never admit it to herself.
Before going to bed, Alexia would expect it, and she always received it. Whenever she wakes in the morning, she checks her phone first and indeed, his messages are waiting for her on the phone.
It felt so nice.
So good.
So real.
So pretty.
So incredible.
It was one of those best feelings, but she would never admit that to herself.
Alexia would never admit that a part of her was beating for that man. That man who broke her. That man who hurt her. He almost ruined her. He took a part of her. She wanted to avoid being vulnerable to him again. Admitting it would make her vulnerable again, so she would rather pretend. Avoid it.
She picked her bag off the table after having her breakfast, she was heading to work again. Her thoughts were taken back to that night again. She had wrapped her hands around him, she loved it. It was so good. It was as safe as she felt before. She felt like he was shielding her from the pain he had inflicted on her.
However, she thought it wasn't possible for the one who caused the pain to take away the pain. She thought. She thought.
Furthermore, she started her car, excluded the thought of that man away from her mind, and replaced it with Henry. Last night he texted her, but she was asleep and didn't receive it. It seemed after receiving the text message from ‘him' she falls asleep because it was the only thing she thought about. The only thing she expected. The only thing that keeps her awake at night.
She sighed and took out her phone from her purse. She spotted Henry's message, clicked on it, and it came into her view.
‘Babe, I know you're so curious about my whereabouts and why I left. I will explain everything in due time, and we'll be back together. Your dreams and plans for a family will come true. I love you."
She read to herself.
A smile appeared on her face, accompanied by tears. It was not tears of joy, it was tears of guilt and regret. She knew he loved her, he really loved her. However, she was in love with someone else. She was still thinking about Dylan.
She wanted it to be Dylan.
She wanted it to be Dylan texting her about a new family.
She wanted to be with him.
She planned to make a family with him.
She planned that they would be together forever. She wanted to have four kids with him; two boys and two girls. It would be too perfect.
They had plans. She had wished, but it wasn't the same as his – Dylan.
She arrived at the company, she made up her mind to evaporate the feelings. Likewise, she and Dylan are different now. Dylan was nothing but a playboy, and she was a married woman. She should ask him to stop, to stop being her secret admirer, she didn't like and appreciate the gesture – she lied – to herself.
She reached her office and settled in front of a pile of documents. She was still thinking about taking to Dylan. She wanted to ask him to stop his childish play.
Perhaps because Kylie was now married to her father, he thought of coming back to play her. After all, she was the puppy who loved him too much and begged him to stay with her. She was the one who loved him very much. Conceivably, he knew no woman would be so stupid as she was to him.
She stared into the air, tears surrounding her eyes. Why was it so hard? She wished it were as easy as she predicted. She wished she could cut him off, but she couldn't. She just couldn't see herself living without his text messages every day; it made her delighted, but at the same time broke her heart.
Why did he have to be a torture to her?!
She thought she had moved on, but right now, she didn't know anymore. Everything reminds her of him. Every damn thing!
Just then, staring at the files in front of her, the door flung open. It was no apart from Dylan. He wore a glimmering suit that fitted his tall stature. His handsome features came to view, he was too handsome for anyone to look away from.
In his hands are some files.
He dropped it on her table, his expression was serious. Dylan had always been serious with work, he knows when to be serious and when to be a playboy.
'The achievers would like to have a meeting with us at the lounge. I picked the perfect place," he said, one of his hands resting on the table while the other jammed with his waist.
Alexia took the file, she checked important things before nodding her head.
'You will have to go alone. I… I have things to do." she answered.
Dylan nodded his head.
'Didn't see you after that day at the hotel. Don't tell me you're shy," he smirked.
Alexia felt irritated.
She felt like smacking his face, but she didn't.
She didn't even look at him or reply, she didn't want his face to draw her in like some kind of magnet.
Dylan smiled.
'Don't worry, we didn't do anything much. You tried to kiss me, but I pushed you off, seemed I'm more decent than you are." with this he walked out.
Alexia raised her head after he had left.
She looked at his retreating figure and gently pinched her hand. How could he be so shameless? She thought.
* * *
Dylan's car stopped in front of the lounge, he stepped out of his car and walked into the building. It had so many beautiful lights and welcoming surroundings.
He noticed his Business associate at the far end of the room. He walked to them, and they began to discuss business immediately.
'We can't be in Mexico tomorrow, you didn't inform any of us," Dylan uttered, almost annoyed.
'We are truly sorry. We'll be launching the company by next week,, and we need you and Alexia to be there as our business associates. We are sorry the news got to you late." The other man with blonde hair spoke with a friendly expression.
'I will have to inform Alexia about it and see what she says. I cannot promise you anything at now because this news got to us late," he answered.
The man nodded, stood, and shook Dylan. With this, he walked out.
Dylan sat still, he brought out his phone and began to press it. While doing this, a commercial popped up on his phone. It was the company's commercial.
Alexia popped up in the commercial, displaying their newly developed technologies. Alexia had always been the face of the company because of her vast knowledge and inviting face. Everyone knew some customers only patronize them over and over again because they get to see Alexia's face.
She was so beautiful. Although, she applied no make-up and wore a suit. Also, her hair was always packed up, but she still looked flawless
Dylan couldn't deny it, her face did some unknown things in his body. He still felt guilty, but would never admit that to himself or her. He would never apologize or make it obvious that he was hurt. That Kylie hurt him. That he finally felt what it was like to be betrayed. That he was heartbroken. That he felt the pain he had inflicted on millions of girls. He would never admit that because he was Dylan young, the young billionaire playboy.
While staring at his phone, the door to the lounge opened and someone walked in. Dylan wasn't interested in the door that opened, but the people who walked in.
He couldn't help but notice the Auburn hair that cascaded down her shoulders and the man beside her who was busy planting kisses on her Caucasian cheeks.
Dylan was surprised, but soon that feeling was covered with disgust and irritation. He sat on his seat and watch as the man and woman walked to the counter. They both smiled at each other as the counter lady processed their order.
'Is Alexia just unlucky when it comes to love,, or she is just surrounded by freaking hypocrites?!" Dylan widened his eyes, his mouth was stuck open.
Dylan would never forget Clarissa's face. She was the same girl who called him to cuss him out after Alexia found out he was cheating on her. C
