Chapter 27
After admitting to himself that he really loves her, Dylan felt a lot better than before. He realised now that he wanted her and be wanted to be with her. Although they are circumstances that tend to separate them, he was willing to look past them and push to be with her.
Meanwhile:
'Anna, you can't tell Dylan that I still have feelings for him. I am married now, I am not suppose to be in love with another man. Aside from that, Dylan is a ruthless man, he will only take advantage of my feelings." She uttered.
Anna nodded her head.
There was no need trying to convince Alexia that Dylan really cares about her now. If they are meant to be, they would be together.
Alexia smiled out tears and continued to eat her food while they changed the subject.
'Tell me about Cole, did he really ask you out?"
Anna nodded her head.
It was the same time the doctor walked in.
Anna raised her head to see the doctor. He greeted Anna and walked closer to her.
He checked her hand and temperature, she was getting better and her wounds were healing fast.
'Doctor, when will she be discharged?" Anna asked.
'Very soon. However, she needs someone to stay with her when we release her? After the series of test, we found out she needs a lot of care and attention. I discussed this with her husband, he asked us to get her a nurse who will take care of her." The doctor talked directly to Anna.
'Who? Henry?" Alexia asked and the doctor turned to her.
He nodded his head and pursed his lips.
'Doctor, we'll get back to you." Anna replied. He nodded his head and walked out after regulating her drip and some other medical items.
Alexia regained her sad face. She didn't think Henry would say that to the doctor. She thought he would stay seeing now that she was sick and needs attention. She used her fork to pick on her food, staring into space as she did.
Anna looked at her.
She touched her palm and gave a reassuring smile which Anna reciprocated.
Two Days Past:
Anna, her mother and father sat across Dylan. Dylan was busy on his laptop. They were all in their house in Mexico because of Alexia.
His sister stared at him and he noticed but he didn't say anything to her. He continued to work on his laptop.
'Brother, when last did you visit Alexia?" she asked.
Hearing her name, he stopped what he was doing and stared at her.
'Two days ago. Why?" he asked.
'Because she ignored you when you came last?" she raised her brows.
Dylan sighed.
'I am giving her the space she needs, you know. I can't bother her since she doesn't want me around." He let out another sigh.
'Are you blaming her?" Anna wondered with puzzled brows.
' ‘cause I were her, I would kill you with my bare hands after what you did. If you really want to earn her forgiveness brother, I think you should continue to care for her. Alexia is a good woman, she doesn't deserve the bad things that had happened to her. She really needs her husband now and he is no where to be found after he left that day." Anna squeezed her face. She wished she could find Henry and speak some senses into him.
' When will she be discharged?" Dylan continued to type on his laptop.
'Today, I'm going there in the next few minutes, I am cooking some food for her. She can't leave the hospital on an empty stomach." Anna stood from the chair. She saw her parents whispering some words to themselves in the other living room as the living room was in two parts.
'What are you too talking about?" Asked Anna. She looked at her mother she she was a splitting image of.
Her mother ocean blue eyes lit up as she smiled.
'We are thinking about bringing Alexia home after what the doctor said. I will like to cook my homemade dishes to her since someone don't appreciate it." She looked at Dylan who don't even pay attention to them.
Anna smiled.
'Yes mom, Alexia staying with us would be the best decision you ever made -- I mean one of the best decision." She corrected after her mother gave her one of those eyes.
Hearing the name of Alexia, Dylan raised his head and looked at his parents.
'Are you being serious?" Dylan asked.
'Of course. The doctor told us she can't stay alone for now. She needs attention, love and care. Her husband said he will be busy so they should hire nurses to take care of her which is obviously a bad decision. Alexia has been nothing but nice to us even after you broke her heart. You mother and I decided that she will be going home with you after she her discharge today." Mr. Young uttered. His wife smiled.
Dylan dropped his laptop. He was so excited.
He doesn't live with his parents but this is one of the best news he had ever received because it means that he would be able to stay with Alexia most of the time with the pretense that he came to visit Anna or his parents.
'Mom, who said I don't like all your homemade delicacies, I actually miss them now that I think about it." He uttered.
Anna smiled.
His parents were astounded.
At The Hospital:
Noon: 12pm
Anna arrived in Alexia's ward, she was already packing her bags. She wore a short gown and white slipper. Anna stood at the entrance with a smile on her lips, she loved the way Alexia tried to do something even though anyone would be wiling to do then for her.
She walked in and Alexia noticed her.
She smiled seeing Anna. She was done packing her bags so she sat down while Anna sat in front of her.
'Mom and dad are coming with the car soon. You know we are also travelling back to New York today?" Talking, Anna placed the lunch bag on her lap. She brought out the food she had brought for Alexia.
'Really? It's nice. I haven't seen Regan, you know?" Alexia uttered sadly.
'Uhm, what could have happened to her? I didn't see her too since you were admitted. You should call her." Anna suggested.
'I did. Her number is not reachable. I am really worried about her, I hope she is fine."
Anna nodded her head and served her the food.
Alexia consumed it while they talked about something else.
* * *
Regan sat on the only sofa in the living room, tears gathered in her eyes while she placed her elbows on her lap, her head bent so all black shoulder length hair covered her entire head including her face.
Right in front of her was an unknown man. He had a little scar on his face. His hair was black and long to his cheeks. He had a dirty smirk on his face and he didn't look friendly at all.
'How much did you collect from him now?" he asked looking at her.
'I can't extort money from someone that doesn't even remember me!" Regan snapped.
The man whose name was Albert dashed to her, he held her by the gut, pinching her jaw and causing her pain.
'And your useless child? Do you think the money you send to him monthly is enough?!" he snapped at her.
'Brother, let me go! I sent more than two thousand bucks every month which is equivalent to 40,000 Mexican pesos and you're still complaining? Brother, I am trying. Do you want to kill me? I feed you! I feed my grandmother and I feed that child every month. Do you think if Dylan knew I had his child, he would give me money? No, he would kill me and the child!
You have prevented me from going out for weeks now, I have work to do especially now that my boss has been admitted to the hospital!" she snapped angrily looking at her crazy brother who did nothing but smoke. He let her go and walked to the window opposite them.
Albert turned around and brushed his hair to the back with his right palm. He smoked into the air with a faint smile crossing his face.
'Don't be stupid. No one would reject a child. You should tell him if he doesn't pay you, you'll take it to the public. How can you be so stupid?! If I were you, I'd be swimming in money."
Regan rolled her eyes.
'I have my plans, okay? I have my plans. Just stop calling me and let me do my work. You have to unlock the door now or your allowance next month will be deducted. Albert, stop smoking around my son." Regan uttered, packed her bags and walked away with the key Albert had stretched to her.
