Chapter 69

Driving back home I couldn't help it, I couldn't help but think about Brendax and a way to help him out. I couldn't go home so I drove to his apartment, hoping I would find something - anything.

Reaching his house, I halted the car and jumped out. I walked through the gate, removing the caution tape the policemen must have left off. I walked through the door and inside his apartment.
I asked Rayden for his password before.

Walking into the living room, I saw that the policemen had scattered the house in their attempt of searching. Looking at the fallen sofa, I remembered that I and Brenden sat there watching movies last night.

I wished we could go back to that moment, I wished it could only have moments like that. I didn't want to go to his room or the guest room so I just headed to the kitchen. I looked around and then sat in the dining area in the center of the kitchen looking into the space.

I remembered what Kylie had said. I didn't know why I believed her. Perhaps because she said the truth, Kylie never hides, whenever she did something she would say it to my face because she knew I am too soft to react.

Perhaps she was hiding but her face looked too soft and too blissful, she was so sure she didn't do it. However, who could have done it? Who could have implicated Brendax? I couldn't think of anyone.

Just then, my eyes caught something. I stood up quickly and walked to the sink counter, it had some food ingredients and an apple that had been cut into half. The happy looked rotten, spoilt and it smelt bad.

It was the same apple I was cutting when I was in Brendax's house before he confessed. I remembered that I left the apple and went to him when he wanted to confess.

Furrowing my brows, I looked beside me; directly at the gas cooker and the pot which was on it. I opened it and my mouth flung open at the sight. The inside of the pot was black, decolorized, and smelly. Closing It back, I saw that it was the same pot I placed on the fire previously, I could remember vividly that I was cooking mac.

After Brendax confessed to me, I left his house without checking on the food or even switching off the gas. Brendax must have forgotten to switch off the gas so the food got burnt. I shook my head; such a dirty man, he couldn't even wash the pot.

With this, I turned around, looking at every angle perhaps I could find something but I didn't. And, I was too scared to go to the rooms, especially the guest room where Helen was found.

Getting back in my car, I drove back to the office. I had forgotten my phone in the car, and by the time I checked it, I saw that I missed dozens of Dylan's calls. I called him back quick, pulling at the company's underground pack.

With this, I got down from the car with my phone glued to my ear. It rang and Dylan picked it up on the second ring.

'Where the hell are you?!" he shouted.

'Brendax got arrested." I blurted not knowing how else to explain to him.

'He what?!"

'I will explain when I get to your office." I ended the call and walked into the building. Taking the elevator, I reached the top floor within some minutes, I hurriedly walked to Dylan's office.

Opening the door, I saw him pacing to and fro. He only stopped when he saw me. He walked to me swiftly, wrapping his hands around me and kissing my lips. I wrapped my hand around him too and laid my head on his chest.

'How did Brendax end up in prison?" He asked, his voice was low and solemn.

I disengaged from him and went to seat on the sofa in his office. I sighed sadly and looked at him.
'A dead woman was found in his guest room."

'Brendax can't kill a human!" Dylan snapped. At first, I was shocked at the way he defended Brendax quickly but I nodded my head in response. Knew that as well.

Dylan sighed worriedly, I could feel worried overshadowing his initial expression.
'I am sure he was framed, I can suspect Kylie." He uttered.

'I thought the same thing as well but when I went to confront her, she said she didn't do it. For once, I believed her because of the genuinity in her eyes and her unfazed expression. However, I can't think of anyone except her." I laid my head on his shoulder. Turning to me, he caressed my hair and planted a soft kiss on my forehead.

'We'll come to the end of this. I will talk to Stephanie later, I am sure she will do something about it." He told me.

I nodded my head thinking about Stephanie. Stephanie was one of Dylan's flings but she ended up finding a nice guy that showed her so much love so she and Dylan became friends. Stephanie was a criminal defense lawyer. She would be perfect for Brendax's case.

Next Morning:
9:00 am,

It was a Saturday, I didn't have to go to work but I really needed a distraction. I didn't want to see Brendax either because I know I would cry seeing him behind bars, especially for something he didn't do.

Clara sent me details of all the files I had to work on for Monday but I decided to get it over with. I needed a distraction, what better distraction than work? Dylan decided to see Brendax this morning and I hope the duo talk well and bond better than they did before.

Busy with my laptop, my phone rang. I looked at it, and seeing the name displayed on my screen, I picked it up quickly. It was the inspector general.

'The autopsy result came out. You will be shocked to see the cause of her death. Brendax caused it."

Brendax did?!
I couldn't believe my ears. I shut my laptop hurriedly and picked up my keys. With this, I walked swiftly to the park and drove off.
