Chapter 17 - Rehearsal
Reign
My assistant, Kali walked into the house frowning at her phone. “Hey Kali, did you and your phone have another argument? You’re frowning at it again.” Koltyn snickered. She glared at him. “Sorry, we are just a little behind schedule. We need to go; Duncan is already texting me like wildfire. He’s driving me crazy.” She grunted. “Oh please,” Jyden said, “it’s only soundcheck, they can do it without us.” He smirked. “Yeah, but it’s something you need; you’ve been a little off key lately.” Jaz shot back. Jyden covered his mouth as if he was injured by his sister's comment.
“C’mon, let’s get this last show going.” I said walking to the door and made my way to the car. “Alright, is everyone ready? We need to get back to the hotel before Mac and Duncan send out a search party.” Ryott laughed. We all loaded into the van and made our way back to the hotel. I was leaving my Hellcat in storage until we came back from our sabbatical. Imma gonna miss my car. “I’m gonna miss this place.” Koltyn sighed. “Actually, no you won’t. We can come back anytime we want.” I grinned. “I just closed on the house along with the surrounding 1,000 acres.” I clapped excitedly. “What!? No way!!” They all yelped in surprise. “Yup, plus it will also be part of the sanctuary.” Damien wrapped his arms around me and kissed me. “You are amazing.” “Naw, just trying to keep them safe.”
When we arrived at the hotel, we went to our rooms that we would be staying in for the next couple of days to be closer for the final days of the tour. I would have rather stayed at the house but that was three hours of driving to and from. “I hate being in hotel rooms, especially after staying at the house. This just feels so stuffy and confining.” Koltyn said spread out on the living room floor watching tv. “It’s only for a couple of days babe.” Jazlyn said making herself comfortable across his chest. “No, no, no, no, you two better behave! None of that lovey dovey shit out here.” I grumbled. “This is common area, do all that shit in the privacy of your own room, that goes for Jyden and Ryott.” “Well, then it also applies to you and Damien.” Jazlyn giggled, her hands on her hips and her head titled to one side. “Yeah, right! Only in HIS dreams.” I scrunched my face and stuck my tongue out. “Yeah, well…” I hand no other come back at that moment. Damien was on the phone listening to our conversation and chuckling the whole time. I glared at him and went to my room; I closed the door and they all erupted in laughter. “Ya’ll suck!” I yelled.
A few hours and a long hot relaxing shower, a nap, and a light fruit salad, we started to make our way to the elevators. “Hey beautiful!” A voice yelled from down the hall. “Duncan, my man!” I squealed and ran into his arms. “You ready to get this party started?” He asked as I jumped on his back. “Let’s go!” I laughed.
Damien
My eyes filled with rage; Ayres wanted to take control. “How dare he touch mate! She belongs to us!” Ayres yelled at me. ”We should kill him NOW! He has no business touching her.” “Ayres, shut the hell up!” I yelled back. “If you hadn’t scared her, we could be the one with her.” Ayres scolded. “Damien.” Jyden whispered to me brother. “You need to stay calm, that’s just Duncan, he’s our tour manager and Mac’s brother.” Jyden informed me. “He shouldn’t be touching her!!” I growled. “Jyden, get movin’!” Duncan yelled. “Yeah okay, we’ll take the next elevator.” Jyden told Duncan. I gave Jyden a look of daggers. “If you want to win her, you need to chill, by the end of week the six of us will be on a plane home where she will be staying with us for six months or longer. You will have her all to yourself, well, you’ll have to share her with the Jaz and Ryott.” Jyden reminded me with a big grin. “Besides, Duncan is like an uncle to her, to all of us.” He assured me.
The band was waiting in the lobby for us so they could make their way to the stadium. I couldn’t believe the number of people that were there to see my siblings and mate. The cheers they were getting, the gifts and the flowers. They worked hard for their success, the time away from home, the missed holidays, I now understood and felt nothing but pride. The security team gathered all of them together, surrounding them with Duncan in the lead with his arm around Reign. “Oh Goddess,” I said silently said, “please help me contain my anger and my want to rip his head from his body.” Jyden nudged me in the ribs and Jazlyn glared at me.
“Alright people let’s stay together.” Duncan started his instructions. “First off, let me introduce Damien Hunt, he is taking over the band security and especially Reign’s security, he and his team will be starting now and for the duration of their long-needed sabbatical.” He said gesturing to me. “He will be in charge, if there are any problems or concerns, please let him know. You can also seek out his associate, Moses Grey.” He motioned to Moses, who waved everyone. “So, with that, Reign, Jaz, and Ryott, you three in the first car with me. Jyden, you, Koltyn, and your brother in the second car.” He finished. “Shadow, you drive Reign’s car.” Shadow nodded. Shadow is part of the new security team and has been with Reign for about six months.
Everyone made their way out to the cars, there were hands coming from everywhere, trying to touch them, hug them or get an autograph. This was insane; my brother and sister are truly rock stars! My mate is a star to me in every way. Shadow made sure to stay close to her while she made her way to the vehicle. We arrived at the stadium and immediately got to work. I was given my all-access pass so I could get around the stadium. Jazlyn had already told me that I need to keep my distance for now. I groaned at her, but I knew she was right, I needed to let her do the show and then I would have her all to myself for the next six months and if I got my way, for the rest of their lives, just the thought brought a sly smile to my lips. “What’s making you smile so wide.” Koltyn asked. “Nothing for you to be concerned about.” I told him in a monotone voice. “Oh please, he’s just waiting for the time he can be alone with Reign.” Jyden teased. “Okay, you two,” Kali said popping her head into the guys dressing room, “get to the stage.” Jyden and Koltyn got up and made their way to the stage and I followed behind. “Oh, you can hang out in front of the stage to get a better view.” Kali told me.
I followed them and made my way up front. For the first time in my life, I was in awe of my surroundings. Someone from the road crew offered me water, I stood there watching them run through their set, I couldn’t help it, but I stared at Reign the whole time. She was amazing, her voice set me at ease, she’s so beautiful. I didn’t like that she was wearing shorts and a tank top but at least the important areas were covered. When they finally took a break, they came down and stood where I was, Reign spoke first. “So, what did you think?” She asked avoiding my gaze. I rubbed my chin and said. “I’m impressed and I don’t impress easily.” I smiled and shoved my shoulder into Jyden’s. My little mate looked at me and smiled shyly. “Okay, y’all ready for this?” Duncan asked. “Let’s get this over with, this will be last time we will have contact with our fans for a while.” Koltyn commented. They all agreed, they loved spending time with their fans, they are the reason they are where they are after all they are the ones that buy their music, merchandise and buy tickets to their concerts. They spent a little over an hour talking with their fans, signing autographs, and taking pictures. They never ever really have enough time to spend with them before they knew it was time to head in for sound check and rehearsal.
It took them a few hours to get all that done. When they were done, they headed for the dressing rooms to change and of course, Reign and I had a heated discussion about her choice of stage attire. “Damien, please let me get through this last show and then we can argue at great length about what I wear!” She gritted her teeth at me. “Besides, what makes you think that you can tell me what I can and can’t wear?” She scowled. She has the cutest little scowl. “Why do you have to be difficult about this?! I told you what could happen.” I responded in kind. “Besides, you are my MATE, and you shouldn’t be wearing cloths like this in front of other males!” I gritted. “Well, that sounds like a personal problem to me. I have been wearing these same outfits for over three years. You have no say in my stage attire!” She reminded me. “You think you can come in here after three nonexistent years and think that you can tell me what I can and can’t do? I don’t think so butt munch!” She said poking her index finger to my chest. “She pokes kinda hard for a tiny female.” Ayres cooed. “Did she just call me ‘butt munch’?” I asked Ayres. “Yep.” He snickered. Before anything else could be said, there was a knock at the door. I turned and opened the door to find their tour assistant, Kali, standing there staring at a file she was holding. She never pays attention to where she’s walking, she walked in and bumped straight into me. “Ooofff - shit, sorry,” she said getting to her feet and then squatting back down to pick up the files and papers she dropped. I stared at her with a grin, Ryott and Reign laughed. “Kali, that’s why I tell you to pay attention, you never know who you will into bump into, literally.” Reign giggled. She looked at her with a lopsided grin. “I don’t know if you two actually met earlier but Kali, this Damien, he’s our new head of security and he’s also the twins’ older brother.” Reign told her. She looked up at me, “Oh, hi.” She said. “I’ve been looking for you, this is for you.” She said handing me a folder. “It has all of today’s activities and any guests that will be here for show.” She explained. “Oh, and Reign, they are ready for all of you for one more sound check.” She smiled and made sure that I didn’t have any questions and then walked out.
“She’s a ray of sunshine.” I chuckled. “Don’t be mean, she’s shy but she keeps me and everyone in order and on time.” She snapped at me and walked out of the dressing room. “Okay, I think we got everything set.” Duncan told them. “Don’t leave the stadium! He instructed. Koltyn and Jyden groaned out. “Where’s the fun in that?” Those two together was never a good idea, they always found a way to get in trouble. “There’s plenty of stadium to explore.” Mac told them walking away with Duncan. Duncan turned and looked at them and pointed his finger. “I’m not kidding, you two better stay outta trouble. This is the last show of the tour, BEHAVE!” He yelled as they ran off. The two of them rolled their eyes at him and turned tail and started running around like wild animals. Reign and Jaz looked at each other and sighed, they hugged and went in opposite directions. Jazlyn grabbed me and dragged me with her, I was hesitant to leave my mate alone. “Damien, she’ll be fine.” Jaz told me. “You need to give her time. You will have six months and longer with her, to get to know her and to let her get to know you and explain more about us.” She told me as she pulled me away.
